Not Thriving: Hive City

Has existed since 2014, but there are only 13 wicks. That means Starving on Wick, so it's not performing well enough. Maybe it could be merged to Mega City since it says it's a sub-trope.

Nevertheless, the low wick counts means that if we want to keep this trope around, it needs to be either TLP'd or added to the Salvage Yard.

Hmm. On the one hand, the basic concept is probably something that could stand on its own as a trope, assuming some effort is made in bringing it up to wiki standards.

On the other hand, there's also the issue that this would need to keep itself distinct from Mega City, Arcology and Layered Metropolis, since I think some overlap would inevitably happen and lead to potential confusion. From what I understand it isn't precisely the same thing (because a Mega City isn't necessarily a Hive City in the way this trope intends, and a Hive City isn't inherently a self-sustaining, closed system in the way an Arcology is). But then again, do we need this many tropes for such fine-grained distinctions? That's at least a question worth asking and answering.

(Personally, I would imagine that if we keep this this would be a subtrope or cross-over of Mega City and Arcology).

What do we think? I would personally suggest sending this to the TLP and seeing if it can accrete enough examples to determine whether it's distinct enough to stand separate from the other tropes I mentioned.

I don't see a YKTTW Archive link, so it didn't go through TLP before. Maybe try a TLP before merging/cutting.

I'm in favor of Yarding it unless someone steps up to sponsor a TLP draft, in which case I'd be fine with sending it to TLP.

They were saying they had to get a TLP draft for a different TRS thread (the one for The Jester) out of the way before moving on to sponsoring a TLP draft for Hive City after it's sent back to TLP.
