Scope crowner up, hollering to hook.
Hooked!
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportHey ~Imperial Majesty XO, I see you added another option to the crowner. Can you explain what the 'broader supertrope' will cover? Will it be any time an actor contrasts with their character?
Note that upthread, I purposefully held off on the 'making subtropes' option until we knew what would become of Irony as She Is Cast first, because there is no point in voting to split stuff off if we don't know what the original trope will cover.
Sorry, I removed it for now. How would you feel if I added "expand to include other types of perceived irony in casting"?

how are the 'other types' distinct from the other two expansion options?
I still think that we can expand the item, but that "bigoted character, minority actor" thing could be worth splitting into its own sub-item. Sort of like how Actor-Shared Background has subtropes for Queer Character, Queer Actor and Disabled Character, Disabled Actor, except this would cover an opposite dynamic.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. If the trope is expanded I definitely agree we can start talking about splitting off. But that can also be done if the trope is not expanded (ie. we make the bigoted-character thing in TLP and move misuse), which was why I wanted to address expanding first. Kinda like what's going down in the 0% Approval Rating thread.
Sounds good. If we're expanding it and notice big patterns, someone can just split it via TLP later anyway.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCall time?
Yep, calling in favor of both expansions.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportWell, not the outcome I wanted but it is what it is :-)
We just have to rewrite the description (I put it on Sandbox.Irony As She Is Cast) to accommodate the expansion and we'll be good to go.
Bump, there's a newish description on the sandbox now. Feedback pls~
That's good, and it manages to be more concise than the original.
There's an unnecessary "actually" and two instances of "frequently" are being used too close together, but overall the description flows much better now.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Reworded.
Bump. Other thoughts so we can wrap up this thread?
Double bump...
None, apparently.
The rewrite on Sandbox.Irony As She Is Cast seems OK to me.

OK, I have swapped it in, cutlisted the sandbox, and added a notice on the discussion page.
This can be closed.
Closing now.

Crown Description:
Irony As She Is Cast sees significant misuse where the actor contrasts their character in other ways besides talent. What should the scope of the trope be? (Note that other actions such as renaming are contingent on the outcome of this crowner.)
Yeah, it's a definite problem. I removed a bunch, and just have with one added yesterday, but it seems most people simply don't read the description at all. So thanks for bringing it up here. I support renaming this for clarification on what it means, since people seem to assume it means just any ironic casting (where they actually goes under Casting Gag). Right now I guess it's a Non-Indicative Name, so doing that would help.
