Uhhhhh, would depend on how sci-fi the character is I'd say since the most technological of Lotus is steam-punk... for now.

Though, as long as it fits with their backstory and the stats are appropiate, I don't see what the problem may be.

I think I could work with that. Though I might have to find a different reference image.

• Name: Nadia Al-Amin

• Appearance: An adventure, eh? Sounds fun!
• Personality: Nadia is a bright eyed girl who loves making new discoveries no matter how big or how small, and even if things are looking down she tries to find the silver lining. That isn't to say she's wholly naive or rose tinted in her views, but Nadia simply thinks that looking at every small bit of progress as a step forward is the perfect way to keep moving forward.
• Motivation: To see what this new world has to offer, of course! And learn a thing or two out about how it works.
• Likes/Dislikes:
  • Likes: Sweets, learning new things, figuring out conundrums. Also speculative fiction, so this place is perfect for her!
  • Dislikes: Cynicism, staying still, people who aren't straight with her.
• Bio/Backstory: Nadia's lived her life as an ordinary student, attending her local community college and exploring the field of culinary arts. However, after falling asleep during a study session for her class (read: a recipe book about cakes and pies), she suddenly found herself dreaming of being in an old timey town straight out of a fantasy novel. Well, she thought she was dreaming up until she tried flying and landed flat on her face. In any case, very confused about her circumstances Nadia wondered where she was... and suddenly, a book materialized in front of her, giving her some small answers to her questions. But with so much still left unknown, she decided she couldn't sit around - it was time to see what this Lotus had in store for her!

  • Body: Nadia was never one for muscle training, but she has become quite dexterous in her field and her mind is as sharp as her knife. Except, even sharper now due to the strange boons this world Lotus seemed to have provided her.

  • Survival: Hoo boy here we go. Since Nadia is (was) in the culinary arts, she used to joke that that made her a culinary "arteest" (fake French accent and all).   • Summoning: Nadia wishes she could conjure up the currency of whatever town she was in and get by, but sadly no. What she can summon are knives, forks, measuring cups, spoons... basically all you need to either cook or pig out, along with seasonings and sauces. Sadly not the actual vegetables, meat, etc... life couldn't be that easy. However, one thing she does have aside from a well-stocked kitchen arsenal is a jade green hardcover book with a fractal-like representation of a lotus. While ostensibly a cookbook (it contains all her recipes and quite a few unique dishes available only in a fantasy world), it is actually a magical tome of knowledge, blank pages filling out with details of Lotus that Nadia can think to ask it. It doesn't know everything there is to know about the world however; that's for Nadia to discover for herself. (Also, she swears it's sentient. Honest.)

• Age: 28
• Gender: Female
• Appearance: "Subsequent objective: Subdue."◊
• Personality: Quite the icy fellow. Reserved, efficient in her words when she chooses to speak, secretive about her personal reasons. While readily harsh to inadequate people, she will give credit where credit is due. Conflicted about the whole "sucked into a dreamworld" development; while she knows it is all a falsehood, the lie is much more pleasant than the truth.
• Motivation: Identify truth within the dream. Observe occurrences and gather information. Conclude which option is superior.
• Likes/Dislikes: Anyone who can actively back up their claims earns her respect. Anyone who allows weakness to unreasonably stop them earns her disgust. Also, mints are her drug.
• Bio: A fairly average young woman well on her way to a Comp Sci degree, when a brutal mugging (or worse) left her with a couple of broken bones and her left eye gouged out. While the limbs could heal, the loss of half her eyesight left Lynn a rather bitter wreck, but still determined to not let that get in the way of her goals - once her legs got good enough for the docs to say she could start physio. It took a bit longer than she'd liked. One night she crawled out of bed, trying to use her feet for the first time in a while, but to no avail, collapsing on the floor and undoing quite a bit of her recovery. At that point she noticed an odd light coming from the base of the bed, and took a closer look out of curiosity. Before Lynn knew it, she crossed over into Lotus.

  • Body: For some reason, Lynn's body is fixed up with prosthetics in Lotus, and they work better than you'd think.

As part of her transition into Lotus, several schematics were installed into her head, the three most sticking out most being a clockwork shield with both offensive and defensive prowess, a rifle for long-range engagements and some burst-shot pistol. Whether she can put them together is another thing.

• Age: 22
• Gender: Male
• Appearance: Yuval is a hulk, weighing at 110 Kilograms and standing tall at a 2.1 meter height, his hair is actually dyed and his eyes are green rather than red◊. (Sorry, finding fitting art was hard and I honestly didn't want a full description)
• Personality: Yuval is reclusive and anti-social, he's pretty scared of adults and people his age socially, he finds it easier to speak to children. Rosenberg has a strong distaste for bullying, the strong preying on the weak. Even if he won't speak to the one he defends he will still help them long as he can before telling them to learn to defend themselves, though he won't chase justice endlessly, he's not a hero or something. He often cares more about getting to the point than any kind of small talk, but every friend he will actually find he will try to hold on to, likely to an overprotective and controlling level.
• Motivation: Escapism, Yuval is only really searching for a world without his parents or the reminders of his life on earth with artistic inspiration as a bonus, making most of his destinations good landscapes spots or fantastical views that you wouldn't find on earth. Also places where he can get a job to pay for food and art supplies are pretty nice too, he mostly just deals with the cards he's dealt, he doesn't want to go home but he's not ambitious to be some hero or fight strong opponents.
• Likes and Dislikes:
  • Likes: Yuval likes people hungry for knowledge, teaching children art, painting, eating pasta carbonara, hand wraps, sculpting and the color pencil set his best friend gave him (Unfortunately left at home).
  • Dislikes: Adults, bullies, assholes, cheesecake, coffee, computer science, mathematics and boxing gloves.
• Bio/Backstory:
  • Yuval was born to a middle class family in Israel, ever since he was young he was pushed around by everyone around him, his parents pushed him to chase science because of his high grades instead of his love for the arts, his classmates took advantage of his weakness and inability to fight back, bullying him until middle school, where he found his first friend, a girl who chased those who bullied him away before offering a hand in friendship, changing him and giving him confidence to do what he wants, eventually going with him to a place teaching self-defense, giving him the strength to stand up to those who wanted to get him, with her he was free of pressure. Free to be who he wanted to be.
  • Right around the 9th grade Yuval also hit a massive growth spurt, and by the end of the first year of high school he was a giant, no bullies or even normal students really wanted to get close to him besides his friend.
  • Then on the last year, tragedy struck; they got hit in car crash by a drunk driver, his friend dead, shielding him and letting him leave the hit completely unscathed. Yuval was not thankful for surviving this hit, his only friend in the world, gone. It left him in shambles mentally, just living on with no idea as to why.
  • Soon he was drafted to the military, despite his accident, he decided to enter a combat unit to go far away from his family, from everyone near him, and he succeeded for a while before he was kicked out due to his behavior and slightly unstable mental state. He continued on close to his family, to what he hates again, but he returned the same, still stuck in the past, in his friend's death, he even started practicing Muay Thai again just to feel close to her.
  • Eventually he was dismissed from the IDF. He had another year in thoughts as a civilian, after which he entered a fine-arts university. After all he still liked art, even in this state. In the middle of the first school year, on a walk to school closed his eyes for a moment and opened them to find himself in s world of fantasy, to somewhere far away from everything he knew, in Lotus.
• Powers:
  • Body – Having been in a short time in boot camp for a combat unit in the IDF and training in Muay Thai and self-defense since middle school, Yuval's fighting has only been enhanced by this world, as his knuckles have turned from roughhousing a pro-athlete to decking monsters

  • Summoning – Imagination is a constantly used muscle for Yuval, polished and always ready. He found himself incredibly talented at summoning fantastical creatures out of his thoughts, though they are more manifestations of his personality, like facets of him given supernatural form and the name of some mythological or historical figure from the real world. When the entity is hit the user is hurt as well, and he can only summon one creature at a time and they significantly stronger for his connection to them, Rosenberg has minor skill in summoning artifacts, though he is very limited in it, capable of conjuring some fantastical tools (somehow not of creating art supplies though) but he's mostly using it to create light fighting gear except boxing gloves, putting the actual artifact part of the magic on his knee guards and some cool looking hand wraps that'll act like weapons instead of finding some gauntlets or actual boxing gloves, hand wraps look cooler anyway.

• Gender: Male
• Appearance: I am, in fact, a lazy people.
• Personality: Despite Dimitri’s very strange compulsion to drink blood, he is not a violent person. If anything he’s more of a good natured goofy guy than anything else. He’s sociable, has a love for all things mystical, and likes to crack a joke when the opportunity presents itself. Also has just a biiiit of a fascination with morbid things/death in general.
• Motivation: Dimitri wants to discover everything he can about the world of Lotus. Why is he here? What wonders can be found within it?
• Likes and Dislikes:
  • Likes: Vampire fiction, horror movies, the night, occultism, books and film in general.
  • Dislikes: The bright sun, judgmental people.
• Bio/Backstory: Dimitri was born in Moscow and grew up with a peculiar form of schizophrenia that led him to believe he was a vampire. This caused him to have an uncontrollable urge to drink to blood. None of the therapies or medications he tried were ever enough to truly curb it for good, so he did his best to just live with it. He never had all that many friends, but the ones he did have he was quite close with. He studied hard in school, making good grades and even managed to get into a prestigious fine arts college. Eventually though, his psychosis became too much for him to handle. He kept ingesting more and more blood – his own, animals, blood bags, whatever he could find – and he became increasingly sick from this unhygienic practice. He eventually fell unconscious after overcome by a disease he acquired from consuming animal blood.
• Powers:
  • Body – Becoming a vampire has increased all of Dimitri’s physical abilities considerably. His strength, dexterity, durability, and stamina are quite a bit better than they were during his days as a sickly human. His slight mental boon has helped him to bring down his cravings to something that can be controlled.

  • Magic – Dimitri has become a potent practitioner of black magic thanks to the gifts of the Lotus.

His powers of alteration have turned him into a vampire that no longer has human needs like food, water, sleep, or oxygen. His sense of smell and hearing are now greatly heightened, making him an excellent tracker. Not only has his sense of pain has dulled considerably, but he can now place torn off limbs back onto his body and have them reform good as new. He can live through injuries that would normally kill an average human, as long as he is not stabbed through the heart with a wooden steak or decapitated. Lastly, drinking someone else’s blood causes him to recover his stamina and heal from injuries at an accelerated rate.

He can shapeshift into the form of other humans and medium-sized animals such as wolves, as well grow wings/claws/tentacles from his body.

Finally, his Destruction magic lets him to create blasts of dark energy that explode and cause the victim to bleed at an accelerated rate.

Name: Mark Zhao

Age: 22

Gender: Technically genderless, but still identifies as Male

Appearance: A well-built 5'10 man of Chinese heritage, with sharp brown eyes, short black hair and a trimmed beard. After landing in Lotus, his appearance changed to that of a male humanoid composed of translucent emerald goo and two neon yellow lights for eyes. He retains some of his former physical characteristics such as eye shape and body profile. Still dressed in a long-sleeve shirt, jacket, jeans and work boots.

Personality: Although he has a good heart and an inclination to help those in need, Mark isn't exactly someone you would call "nice". He tends to he blunt to the point of being rude and has little tolerance for people imposing their will onto others- in part due to his parents trying to dictate his future career regardless of his own opinion- and doesn't care what people think of him. Though Mark prefer to resolve things with words and he'll rarely (if ever) start a fight, he's also a vindictive bastard who will do whatever it takes to end it.

Motivation: Finding himself in a strange world with strange abilities, Mark just wants to explore Lotus to learn more about where he's in, and to find out why he's been turned into a sentient goo man.

Likes and Dislikes:

• Likes: Food-both cooking it and eating it, reading, Learning new things, working with his hands, photography, moments of solitude.

• Dislikes: Control freaks, Prejudiced people, bitter alcohol, boredom.

Bio/Backstory: Born and raised in Vancouver by two traditional Chinese parents, Mark decided that he want to find his own way in life. His parents on the other hand, had decided that they wanted Mark to become a Surgeon, and often voiced their disapproval when he decided to pursue other interests.

• Things reached a boiling point when Mark graduated high school, and he packed a suitcase and stormed out of the house for good after a particularly nasty argument with his parents. Now free to pursue his own path, Mark rented a cheap studio apartment, enrolled in a local tech college and managed to acquire a part-time job working in a cafe. Though it was a very simple and frugal life, Mark found it to be a happy one.

• Things suddenly took a turn for the strange one night. The last thing Marco remembered was returning from a particularly grueling final exam and collapsing onto the bed with his bag still on his back...and waking up feeling like his body had liquefied somehow...

Powers:

• Body: For reasons unexplained, Mark's body has gained the liquid properties of a Slime monster, granting him incredible mobility and insane endurance. This leaves him with several unique strengths and weaknesses: On one hand, Mark's liquid body is completely immune to physical damage and poison, but it renders him weaker to elemental attacks and he can be diluted to the point of losing his gel body and exposing his core- the part where Mark's "being" resides if dunked in a large body of water. And while his core is virtually indestructible, it's extremely sensitive to pain. A strong blow to his exposed core can render him comatose for hours out of sheer agony.

Aside form that, Mark also knows some healing magic.

• Survival: Mark has always enjoyed experimenting with ingredients and recipes in order to see what works and what can be improved. He's also a good chef, able to make something edible from pretty much anything. It may not always taste the best, but it will fill you up.

• Gender: Female

• Appearance: "Time for a new start"◊

• Personality: Reyna is an outgoing, polite and reserved individual...well, back on Earth she was. In Lotus, she's become somewhat more selfish and a bit of a wild card, choosing to follow her own feelings and desires. Without the expectations and obligations being the pressure that holds her down, she revels in freedom. This isn't to say that she's likely to do reprehensible things though, she still has a conscience and sense of right and wrong after all. Still, despite this, she's not particularly bold, and often runs away from stressful situations and problems if she can help it. Her ambitious facade has given way to carefree abandon chasing what's the most fun for her rather than pleasing anyone else, easygoing and perhaps a bit too manic about the new world...

• Motivation: To have a new start, to revel in freedom and have fun. Most of all, she never wants to go back to Earth.

• Likes and Dislikes:
  • Likes: Gymastics, track sports, showing off acrobatics, curry, sour sweets.

  • Dislikes: Being put under pressure, confronting problems, being cramped up against people, people staring at her.

• Bio/Backstory: Reyna was always something of a lifelong achiever, pressured to be the best that she could. For the most part, she went along with it, trying to be a model student and, later, athlete. The gymnastics and track team proved to be a helpful reprieve from the stresses of studies, and things were alright for a while. By the time college rolled around though, they started feeling less like fun and more like obligations. Still, she didn't want to disappoint anyone, and she still loved the sports. After a pretty grueling day of having gone to intense gymnastics and track training sessions in preparation for events being held soon, and pulling an all-nighter studying to keep her grades up, she sat down on a locker room bench, gasping from exhaustion. As her eyes closed and her chest strained, she felt herself feeling much lighter, the world felt as if it had faded away. The last feeling she could remember was as if ice cold water had been poured over her.

• Powers:
  • Body – Much like she was back on Earth, Reyna is an amazing athlete from her time as a gymnast and track runner as well as having a sharp mind from trying her best to be a star student, so naturally, arriving in Lotus has amplified those even further. She is at least peak human in every aspect, but she obviously has amazing speed, flexibility and acrobatic prowess.

  • Magic- In Lotus, Reyna thought to focus once again on speed, finesse and cunning over sheer power. Her Illusion spells allow her to create mirror images of herself, both physical and phantasmal, as well as brief invisibility. Her side in Destruction is basic wind and lightning augmentations to her attacks
