No idea. The Ouran pic isn't great, but I don't see the current as being much of an improvement, especially since there's nothing in that shot to warrant the glance. I'm voting to revert pending other ideas.
Possibly the forum was at thread limit or something?
Still, old image was better. Current, besides being of worse quality, lacks the weird situation that warrants the aside glance. I vote to revert if there are no better suggestions as well.

I think 9.2 could work. There's another character standing in front of Eddie Murphy, but he's directly looking at the audience instead. It's also clear from the angle of his eyes that he's not looking at an off-screen character; in the former page pic, that distinction is not so clear.
Otherwise, I think the best way to illustrate this trope is with a "before and after" shot. An image of the character looking at something in-universe, followed by an image of the character reacting by looking at the audience. Something like this

Fine with the change. I don't know if it is allowed to post here (I've checked the rules and I don't think it's against them but may have missed something) just to say my initial reasons for not starting an image pickin thread. Basically, I guess I didn't know how to? It was my first time trying to change the image. I tried to find a way to post in the old one, and I swear I actually did try and create a new post but couldn't, but I can't quite remember.
I felt like the Ouran image needed to be changed because it was totally out of context, to anyone who had seen that show, the image didn't clarify, it was confusing. In my opinion anyways. Fine with the change, just wanted to say I basically was too dumb to find the way to post properly I guess.

You can create a new thread using the “create new conversation” button near the bottom-right of the forum page, and holding the opinion that an image does not adequately illustrate the trope is a valid reason to start a thread, provided that it’s logical/rational.
