This is the discussion thread for FEI: The Enhanced.

So, um... do that thing. If you want... nobody's forcing you...

Ahem, anyway. New concepts, ideas and NPCs will be posted here, along with miscellaneous important information. Keep in mind that there is a link to the Discord chat up above, along with the Singup thread link, which you may use to your will.

Well, not exactly to your will, you can't use it to summon an army of flying spiked elephants with luminous pink wings, but you get the picture.

• Real Name: Renée Raleigh
• Age: 21
• Gender: Female
• Description: A young woman who greatly resembles her sister, but her dirty blond hair is shorter cut and unkempt. When on duty, she wears a janitor’s jumpsuit, but when off duty, she prefers a t-shirt and jeans.
• Enhancement: Pristine Aura - The antithesis of her sister’s enhancement, Renée projects an aura of pure cleanliness. This aura erases stains, spills, rubble, anything it considers a mess. (Warning: Aura should not be activated if there’s anything within the mess that you wish to keep; it doesn’t discriminate). This aura is perceived by humans as a fresh scent and a clean feeling. When deactivated, this aura is still present in a weak form, resulting in Renée smelling like a cheap air freshener, and those in her vicinity feeling mildly cleaner than normal. (Warning: This aura does not interact well with Rebecca’s aura, and under no circumstances should the two be activated in the same place at the same time).
• Personalty: Laid back to the point of being lazy, Renée mostly took this job because her enhancement does the work for her. A generally nice person, she’s downright terrifying when angered; (research is ongoing as to whether she can actually erase people with her powers, or if those are just empty threats. Either way, she’s all talk, and would never actually do that). She regrets her poor relationship with her sister.
• Background: Renée was one of those enhanced whose powers manifested at birth, and she spent her formative years using them to do her chores without effort, leading to her generally lazy attitude. When her twin sister Rebecca first manifested her own ability, the sisters found they could not be around each other without extreme discomfort, causing their relationship to gradually deteriorate. They’ve seen very little of each other since graduating high school, and spoken even less. About a year ago, Renée got a custodial job with the FEI, mostly to avoid doing actual work.
• Level of Power: L2

Here's a villain NPC for future use:

• Codename: Rubber Swan
• Real Name: Deborah "Dee-Dee" Donovan
• Age: 21
• Gender: Female
• Description: A tall, pale, spindly blonde woman with pigtails. Her villainous costume consists of a black ballerina's uniform and a black cloth mask.
• Enhancement: Her body is made of a rubbery, highly-elastic substance that makes her superhumanly tough, though cutting is more effective than blunt force in general. She can stretch her limbs several dozen feet, and hit with superhuman strength by stretching a limb back and 'snapping' it forward. She can bounce around like a ball and jump hundreds of feet in the air, or use her body like a slingshot to launch people and things at supersonic speed.
• Personality: Cruel and petty, Dee-Dee is the villain equivalent of a merciless schoolyard bully. She isn't particularly intelligent, and detests anyone smarter than her. In particular she loves breaking and smashing things, and she likes jewelry, so she often breaks into stores. To her, people who use their abilities to help others are lying to themselves, since in the end they always get something out of it for themselves - fame, a sense of superiority, or changing the world to suit them. Her worldview makes her incredibly selfish, which is why she works alone.
• Background: While her younger brother showed promise from a young age, Dee-Dee's Enhancement didn't appear until she was 16. By then her little brother Dexter was already beloved by their parents. She had picked on him, as older siblings are wont to do, but she always thought it was playful, just a spat between siblings. Their parents disagreed, and she was constantly grounded. When she got her powers, she used them to show off to her classmates, and accidentally wound up giving her boyfriend a concussion. Her boyfriend dumped her, but she didn't get suspended - because Dexter had stepped in and convinced the faculty to be lenient, as she was new to being Enhanced. Her resentment only grew for her little brother, and when she turned 18 she ran away from home. Rubber Swan appeared not long after, robbing and smashing her way through heroes. One day she'll end her one-sided sibling rivalry.

Where would we be without some comic relief?

• Codename: Strip Poker
• Real Name: Chance Kingsley
• Age: 27
• Gender: Male
• Description: A short, stocky man, about 5’ 2’’, with brown hair, whose most notable features are a brown tenchcoat with playing card decks in every pocket, a green domino mask that he never takes off, and a god-awful mullet. Has a bit of a beer belly.
• Enhancement: Strip Charge - Chance is able to charge small objects, up to about the size of a loaf of bread, with a mysterious energy. After being charged, the next article of clothing the item touches will disintegrate, along with the item itself. Chance keeps playing cards all over his person for use as anti-clothing projectiles.
• Personality: Egotistical, idiotic, incompetent, and trigger happy, to say that Chance is difficult to get along with would be an understatement. He believes himself superior to all those around him despite having no basis for this belief, a trait which also manifests in near suicidal overconfidence. His answer to nearly every problem is to throw cards at it, which usually just results in pissed off half-naked coworkers. He tends to drink heavily, but it’s hard to tell if he’s drunk at any given moment because his judgment is already so poor.
• Background: Raised by a single mother who would heap undeserved praise upon her beloved son, Chance grew up hearing stories about his late father, who had reportedly fought powerful Enhanced and won, despite not having an enhancement himself. These factors combined to give Chance an ego roughly the size of Jupiter. At the age of 25, Chance sneezed during a game of poker and accidentally stripped his opponent, discovering his enhancement for the first time. He immediately went to the FEI Tower and demanded to join. Once it became clear that he would attempt to fight supervillains on his own and likely get himself killed in the process if left to his own devices, they reluctantly let him join to keep an eye on him.

I will be far less frequent during this weekend; I'm heading out to the cousin's wedding, so at best I'll be able to keep track of stuff happening tomorrow. Saturday is likely completely taken and I should be back by Sunday afternoon. Sorry for the trouble.

• Codename: Aquamarine Lock
• Real Name: Taroyuki Inagawa
• Age: 27
• Gender: Male
• Description: A tall, muscular young man of Asian Descent, Taro usually wears a three piece suit - his hair is always styled back and gelled, and his fingers bear a scar from where he accidentally activated his powers for the first time during a Yakuza loyalty rite. He has black hair and slate grey eyes. He has a dragon tattoo on his back.
• Enhancement: Aquamarine, which lets him control water in all of its states, and change its density, temperature, and chemical composition based on what is inside of it. He can even control his own blood, which usually manifests as reinforcing his body past the point of Made of Iron.
• Personality: He is defined by contrasts against Takami in a number of ways - while Takami wants into the family business, Taro wants out; he seems to view his powers less as something to exploit, and more something to use to better himself and others around him. However, he is still easily brought into Yakuza activities - he has a strong sense of loyalty to his family and his obligations. However, he seems to think Takami may well be dangerous, and thinks he needs to be his younger brother's "keeper".
• Background: The son of his father and a lawyer for the family who has since died, Taro has a more troubled relationship with the family than meets the eye. He is loyal to a fault and yet, thinks the time for such activities has come and gone, and that they should try and go straight. Even so, Taro has a strong sense not only of obligation, but of "sunk costs". He would much prefer Takami to go straight, and keep out of their world. Taro however also sees his brother's darker side, and believes he needs to keep an eye on him. "This is why I'm here. To keep my brother from going too far."
• Power Level: 2 looming on 3.

Here's some more NPC villains.

• Codename: Medusa
• Real Name: Renee Beaumont
• Age: 57, although she appears much younger and has been confused for an early 20's before. Age does not appear to slow her down much.
• Gender: Female
• Description: Sssuspicious. She is a tall woman, clocking at 6'7 of dignified elegance and charisma, clad in red dresses and unblemished even despite her serpentine fea- OH GOD WHAT IS THAT Her "ascended" form is the size of a small van and can dissolve into even more snakes than caught on the picture here.
• Enhancement: The Blessing of Yig - Medusa holds many strange powers, but - beyond her heightened strength, durability and agility - they all relate to snakes. Her human form exhibits many serpentine characteristics; chiefly a venomous bite and an increase of powers in warm climates (although she is not cold-blooded; low temperatures merely cause her a mild discomfort). She can command snakes of all kinds as well as other reptiles to a lesser degree, summon serpentine allies of her choosing (though she prefers actual snakes than these mere constructs) and instill hypnosis in anyone foolish enough to make eyecontact with her. Medusa's ascended form naturally floats and can use her serpentine appendage to constrict and throttle opposition on top of all the powers of her human form. Despite the cracks, she is almost unnaturally tough in this form; small-arms fire all but bounces off her.
• Personality: Renee Beaumont is certifiably insane, though that does not become apparent until one talks with her for a longer while. Believing herself to be a High Priestess of Yig, the Father of Serpents, she calls for the Enhanced to accept the blessing of her patron and join the ranks of his cult in preparation for the visit of Yig's peers to Earth. There is, however, a barrier of entry, and one that Medusa decides herself; those below it are deemed useful idiots at best and food otherwise. To her, non-Enhanced and low-level Enhanced are nothing but cattle and she will state that with absolute certainty as if it was indeed the sacred truth. To those who show loyalty she is the grandest and most benevolent of superiors, and even the cattle can earn her respect if they truly believe in her cause (though that might just mean becoming a ritual sacrifice rather than a simple snack); to the traitors and enemies she is a terrifying force of nature. Despite this unforgiving mindset, she prefers subtlety and manipulation; after all, the meat of an unsuspecting cattle animal is so much more tender. Thus, she and her cell of cultists operate with care and caution.
• Background: Renee Beaumont, codename Medusa, operates within the world for a time already. Believing herself to be the first servant of Yig, a fictional deity devised by Zealia Bishop and then refined by Howard Philips Lovecraft, Medusa dreamed of a world that would be a fitting parlor of her patron god. Slowly, her influence in her homeland Canada and then in the United States grew as The Church of Serpents was formally established in 1992; an appealing option for those Enhanced that found themselves ostracized from the world and by other, more rigid religions. Over time, Renee's cult grew more inclusive and radical, involving itself with right-wing movements created by those Enhanced who saw their non-Enhanced peers as second-rate citizens. Currently, Medusa's plan is to use the war between Savior and Harbinger to smear them both as children playing with powers beyond understanding as her agents subtly weave the web of intrigues and herd those Enhanced who survive their conflict for her and Yig's use.
• Level of Power: L5
• Other: The Church of Serpents spans the entirety of the United States and most of Canada, though it appears to be most successful in Midwest. Medusa herself owns a luxurious villa in the city where she hosts her political allies and potential new adherents in lavish parties. She also has 12 green anacondas that serve as the villa's security and servants both, much to continued astonishment of her guests.

For when the thread needs a Horror villain or an invincible small timer...

• Codename: nobody (yes lowercase)
• Real Name: John Smith (as long as he's in 2010s USA)
• Age: 37.8 (also as long as he's in 2010s USA)
• Gender: Male
• Description: A very forgettable man, who fits the average, look, voice, clothing, appearance, and even smell of wherever he is. Asking a witness to try to describe John is rather like asking someone to describe and set apart one particular patch of the daytime sky on a clear day.
• Enhancement: Implacability—Besides being The Needless, and a tendency to get back up from anything, John simply disappears when no one is observing him—though never very far. His sheer average-ness, matching wherever he goes, is the problem. John's just so forgettable, that the police can't identify him even from High-Definition video footage, and he blends into crowds so well, eye witnesses to his chaos cannot later pick him out of a crowd in the same scene. That said, his strength is average like everything else, and while he can't be killed by strangulation, any Joe on the street would have an easy time keeping him in a headlock—unless the person happened to look away. The same applies to his intelligence.
• Personality: Again, strictly average. Not that charming, not that cruel. John is, for the most part, True Neutral. The trouble comes when he wants something that isn't quite lawful to get. He rarely considers others, because none of them have ever stopped form getting to his prize—eventually. Though John's motivation is as average as everything else, nothing stops him from randomly returning to an issue. Not like anyone will remember his face.
• Background: As per usual, there's nothing special about his origin. He was a truck driver with much the same habits and only slightly less forgettable. His parents are retired, living like average retirees. He lives in an average trailer attached to his average tractor-trailer. He eats, average food at average prices, and still makes average money. (Having average goals—like dine and ditching at a fancy restaurant—he doesn't go far enough off the beaten path for his employers to notice his criminal activity). John goes home to a stable, average marriage and average (if home/truck-schooled) children. And even they cannot pick John out of a crowd or a picture.
