Dear Mister/Miss,

We are happy to inform you that you have been accepted to Katherine Evans University For The Gifted (KEU). We have reviewed your (application/ scouting report/examinations result) and you have proven that you have what it takes to be a Hero. Attached is a list of requirements needed for your first semester at KEU as well as a handbook of school rules and regulations and a map of the Campus. First day of classes is September 1st, 2115, 7:00 AM. All freshmen must assemble at the Auditorium, punctuality is a must.

Matthew Evans, Headmaster

Alright, let me explain the premise. This RP is inspired by the likes of My Hero Academia, with some Tiger and Bunny thrown in there. It will follow the exploits and adventures of a group of KEU freshmen as they follow their dreams to be superheroes.

As for tone, well, it will be comic-booky. Modern Age usually, but I'm not adverse to some Silver Age wackiness in moderation. If you've seen the shows that inspired this, something like that would be ideal.

Now for the Lore~.

The Gifted

It was 100 years ago when they started to appear. People born with a quirk in their genes, manifesting strange abilities. Some even looked oddly inhuman. Wings, claws, tails and scales.

And of course, as people often do, they hated and feared these strange new mutants, these so called Gifted, dubbed mockingly by the people.

It was only a matter of time before the Gifted fought back, using their powers to lash out.

For some reason, the Gifted appeared most often in New Hope City, in the state of Oregon, and it was in this city that the first superheroes appeared.

Miracle and Wrath

Katherine and Matthew Evans were twins, both Gifted. They lived in New Hope at an orphanage, and every day they could see the Gifted-related chaos around them. Matt was all for hiding their abilities and living their own lives, but brash and idealistic Kate wanted to go out and do something.

It took many months for Kate to convince her brother, but she eventually did and Matt grudgingly promised to help his sister in her objective.

The twins were 17 when they debuted as Miracle and Wrath, and there were no one like them.

Kate, Miracle, was an extraordinarily powerful Gifted, born with strength, speed, durability, flight and the ability to blast bolts of energy from her hands.

Matt, Wrath, was less physically powerful than his sister, though he was still superhumanly strong. He possesed the ability to absorb energy and a potent healing factor.

For years, those two fought crime, stopped riots and (mostly Kate) preached acceptance for the Gifted.

Inspired by Miracle, more and more Gifted suited up as heroes, and it was at this time that Wrath had an idea.

Matthew was a clever man, and a shrewed entrepreneur. As he and his sister grew more famous, he began speaking with the local television channel.

And so, Hero TV was born. Following the exploits of Miracle, Wrath and the other superheroes, it became a smash hit in New Hope and beyond.

Wrath reasoned that they would need income to keep up their heroics, and it acted as positive propaganda for the Gifted. Two birds in one stone.

Miracle continued her heroic exploits while Wrath took a backseat and started managing the business side of things.

Soon, the siblings became the proud owners of their own company...Miraculous Media.

With the advent of Hero TV, more and more heroes started becoming public with their identities, Miracle and Wrath among them.

It seemed like the twins had done what they set out to do, but when there are superheroes, there are supervillains.

The worst of them was The White. Terrifyingly powerful, he forced the twins into one last confrontation.

And on that day, watched by the whole world, The White defeated Wrath and Miracle, on her last legs, managed to rid the world of the villaim for good...saving her brother at the cost of her own life.

Grief stricken, Wrath retired from the public eye soon after, dedicating himsel to honoring his sister's memory...

The State of the World

But that was a long time ago. Now, new heroes patrol the cities of the world.

More and more Gifted have appeared, and as of last count, thirty percent of the world's population was Gifted.

Tensions between Gifted and non-Gifted still exists, but for the most part humanity has accepted their powered brethen.

Of course, anti-Gifted terrorist organizations exist, most infamous being the Humanity Movement, but it's a lot more peaceful these days.

Technology has increased by leaps and bounds. Robotics, genetics, transport, medicines. (Standard comic book tech levels.)

Superheroes and villains exist all across the globe, but the most well known heroes are those that operate in...

New Hope City

Located in Oregon, USA, the home city of Miracle and Wrath. A massive metropolis atop an artificial island, New Hope is blessed with state of the art technology as well as the prestige of being the birthplace of superheroes.

The city itself is divided into two parts, Low Town where the average citizens live and at the very center, Hope's Peak, home to various mega corporations like Miraculous Media, as well as the KEU.

New Hope also has a port and an airport for travellers to and from the mainlaind.

New Hope has also been blessed by the fact that for the last seven years, there has been no supervillain within the island.

Gifted criminals, yes, but no supervillains.

The Katherine Evans University For The Gifted

The KEU was founded by Wrath, Matthew Evans, after the death of his sister. Using his profits from Hero TV, he sought to honor his sister's memory by guiding the next generations of Gifted.

With state of the art facilities, classes taught by successful heroes and programs ensurimg it's graduates would actually earn a living, the KEU became the most prestigious University for Gifted in the world.

The KEU gave scholarships and scouted out talent, sometimes even going to High Schools to search for potential students.

The KEU is still headed by Wrath, now 90 years old but only slightly past his prime, his Gift having slowed his aging to the point that he looks like he's in his early fifties.

Hero TV

The lifeblood of New Hope City. There have been many superhero themed shows in the world, but Hero TV remains the most popular.

Heroes competing on the show are sponsored by a company and they compete live, gaining points by capturing criminals and saving civilians.

At the end of each "season" points are tallied and the winner receives a cash prize as well as the title of "Champion of Heroes".

Hero TV also has its own storylines, written by the show's staff and given to the heroes. Think WWE. Rivalries, romances and even battles with fake supervillains.

When a new graduate debuts as a sidekick, he is written into the show until such the time that he wishes to go solo, at which point the writers will pull out a "falling out" scenario with their mentor.

Of course, when a real threat arises, storylines are often the least of the show's priorities, simply recording the heroes saving the day.

....Still awarding points, of course.

Superhero teams are quite frankly nonexistent, since technically Hero TV's stable of heroes are a team of their own as well as friendly rivals.

There are some heroes who refuse to join Hero TV, though, acting as independent lawkeepers. In New Hope City, though, this is very rare.

Hero TV is split into leagues:

The A League consists of the highest tier heroes, the most sucessful. They are larger than life figures, the celebrities of the Hero world.

The B League is below that, consisting of new graduates and heroes still trying to make a name for themselves.

The C League is for KEU students, learning the ropes and handling the smallest of crime. It is further divided into 4 Sub-Leagues, one for each of the four years in KEU.

Alright, that's done. One last thing to note before the character sheet. I encourage worldbuilding for Hero TV, New Hope City, and the larger world outside of New Hope.

I would love to hear your ideas in the Discussion thread once it's up~.

Now, Character sheet!

  • Gift: I'm pretty lax with Gifts, and they can be pretty broad. I just have a few things. I'm banning Mind Control. That's not going to happen. Instant Death abilities also a no.
  • Flaw: All Gifted have a Flaw, a weakness to them. For example, Miracle famously had her powers halved in effectiveness at night, and Wrath's healing factor did not heal wounds inflicted by silver. No one knows why Gifted have Flaws, just that everyone had them.

  • Name (Civillian): Lazarus Mendez
  • Codename: Eon
  • Age: 20
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Laz is a tall, shapely Hispanic youth with short black hair and slightly sunken eyes. He usually wears long sleeved shirts to hide the gang tattoos that he's frankly ashamed of and tends to wear a cross around his neck in a tribute to his mother instead of any religious beliefs.
  • Costume: Eon wears a skintight set of armor, covering his legs, torso and arms in what looks like blood red muscle. He wears a paper white boots that go down from his armor and gauntlets that cover his forearms. His head, neck and ribs are covered in similarly white armor, with a red Y on his helmet to allow him to see. EON is on bright white letters across his back.
  • Sponsor: Laz refuses to have anything to do with sponsorship.
  • Gift:
    • Time-Perception: While Laz does not feel like he has any superpowers, he does in fact has the gift to slow down his perception of time by up to fifty percent.
  • Flaw: Laz needs to be traveling at speeds of twenty miles per hour or higher to activate his gift. Similarly, after he finishes with slowing down time for a large amount of time, his perception speeds up to compensate for the time, leading for him to be sluggish and lethargic after he uses it.
  • Other Skills:
    • MMA
    • Skilled runner in high school
    • Parkour
    • Used to play Football.
    • Knowledge of useless trivia of pop culture.
  • Other Equipment: His crucifix necklace and the EON suit, a prototype powerarmor meant for military use that was captured and about to be sold on the black market before Laz stumbled across it and stole it.
    • Abilities
    • Eon is capable of reaching speed up to seventy MPH and up to 100MPH if he sprints, though he has trouble stopping and will usually end up skidding and tumbling at that speed. When he goes above 40MPH. If Laz wishes, the suit will also produce an energy shield as a friction guard.
    • Super Strength: Eon can bench press approximately two tons.
    • Energy shields: Eon's suit has an energy shield which allows him to automatically deflect bullets, furthermore he can form the shield again by cross his arms. This can deflect strikes by super powered individuals.
    • Auto-heal: While inside the suit, Laz's metabolism increased to superhuman levels, allowing healing of stab wounds in an hour as it, as Laz puts it, 'welds his flesh back together'. Though it took two days to cure him of his addiction.
    • Liquid Form: The suit can shift to other forms, though Laz usually turns it into a letterman jacket. It has all the abilities and protection of a standard piece of clothing when it is in this form.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Bladed Weapon: The Eon suit offers no protection against knives and bladed weaponry, if not blocked by an energy shield, even shards of glass will easily cut through his armor with exceptions of the head, forearms and hands and boots.
    • Damage Cap: Once the Eon suit recieves too much damage, it will be as useless as a T-shirt as it attempts to recover. At most, Laz can remove the suit but otherwise loses all his powers as it recharges.
    • Electricity: Though it has some power dampeners, The Eon suit for now is weak to electricity and electrical shocks can easily drain the power reserves of the suit.
  • Personality: Laz is a bit of a dick and a bully to those he doesn't know, though this is mainly to cover his own insecurity about the fact he doesn't actually have a gift though if you tend to leave him alone, he'll simply keep his head down and maybe snark. As Eon however, Laz changes almost completely, becoming grandstanding and never shutting up-a mix of trying to distract himself from the nerves in a fight and trying to distract an opponent. But one thing never changes; Laz has killed before and he will go out of his way to make sure that no hero crosses that line.
  • Bio: Lazarus Mendez is a story of lost potential. He was the star athlete of Santo high and almost the valedictorian. He was active in his church and then? He fell. His single mother died in a car crash and Laz fell in to heroin abuse and the Devil's Third, an infamous street gang. He lived in a halfway house and one night snuck out to buy some smack and it went south so he fled. Somehow, he ended up finding this red liquid. He was shot in the back and fell into it, and somehow it bonded to him, he felt a sharp pain in the base of his skin and a voice in his head. First thing it did was proceed to purge all heroin from his system and speed up his withdrawal process. Something that Laz describes as hell. But, with his new armor, Laz began to turn straight, fight crime and left the gang. Taking the name 'Fenix' however, this was forgotten as the newscasters all called him by the name on his suit; Eon.

Alright, here we go.

Troy, first off, the formatting. Some of that messed up a bit.

Next, uh, he really doesn't fit is what I'm seeing.

The suit is unexplained, not a Gift, and really kind of out of place.

This is no longer a WIP

  • Name (Civillian): Daniel Blake
  • Codename: Crackdown
  • Age: 20
  • Gender: Man
  • Appearance: I'm as shocked as you are
  • Costume: Something along these lines. Usually wears a bandanna around the lower half of his face to remain inconspicuous.
  • Sponsor: The Millstone Arms. A small tavern on the outskirts of New Hope City
  • Gift: Daniel didn't exactly win the lottery when his gift emerged, but it's not exactly terrible either. For the most part he's fairly normal, though he's significantly more durable than a regular human, being able to shrug off most injuries that would put the average man in the hospital, though stabbing and cutting weapons tend to be fairly efficient at hurting him. High caliber bullets and armor piercing rounds tend to cause serious damage. Daniel doesn't know why he can do this, with his best guess having something to do with increased muscle and bone density, but that's about it. Additionally Daniel is a bit stronger than the average athlete of his age and size, not lift a truck over your head levels of strength, but strong enough to rip a door off of its hinges with little difficulty (think more professional strongman than superhuman).
  • Flaw: For whatever reason, direct electric currents hurt Daniel a lot more than the average human, with low voltages incapacitating him and higher (and theoretically non-lethal) voltages being borderline lethal. Also Daniel tends to get gassed a bit quicker when engaging in physical activities for some reason (he also blames this on potential bone and muscle density).
  • Other Skills:
    • Marksmanship: To adapt to his frequent bouts of exhaustion in prolonged physical combat, Daniel quickly took to using firearms to make his fights a bit easier to handle. While his accuracy isn't pinpoint, he can hit most moving targets and generally doesn't miss too often.
    • Hand to hand combat: Even though it's not his specialty for obvious reasons, Daniel can hold his own in a fist fight. While not ascribing to any particular martial art, Daniel mostly uses his strength and durability to dish out unique forms of damage, relying heavily on quick and brutal strikes to the enemy's head.
    • Cooking: While not a master chef by any stretch of the imagination, part of Daniel's sponsorship deal was learning how to cook some of the Millstone Arms' signature dishes.
    • Vidya: Due to years of practice at the art of Video Gaming, Daniel is quite adept at most games and can pick them up on the fly
    • While not really classified under any particular skill, Daniel is quite adept at improvising weapons on the fly.
  • Other Equipment:
  • Personality: While he might be marketed differently, Daniel is a pretty introverted guy, preferring to keep to himself when not engaging in superheroics. If engaged he'll do his best to keep a conversation going but doesn't fare too well in large groups and would much rather be at home doing his own thing. When it comes to his superheroics, Crackdown tends to stay focused on his task at all times to the point of obsession until it's done. Additionally, Daniel is insanely protective of his secret identity, and will drop everything to ensure no one knows his real face outside of the circle of Gifted at the University, once going so far as to wrap his head in duct tape during the middle of a fight to ensure his identity stayed secret.
  • Bio: Daniel's life was for the most part, unremarkable. Your typical high school outcast, he spent the vast majority of his teen years flunking classes before eventually dropping out of high school at 18 and drifting between jobs for a while. After eventually settling on a job working security for a sleazy club in the middle of downtown NHC which mostly involved him tossing drunks and rabble rousers out to the curb when they got too rowdy for the rest of the patrons. This unfortunately backfired after his first month on the job when a fratboy type decided to pick a fight and ended up breaking his fist when he punched Daniel square in the face. It was at this point that Daniel picked up on his gift. After an extended period of time spent freaking out over this fact, Daniel eventually decided to try and put his skills to use by working as a vigilante of sorts, cracking down on street level crime when he wasn't on shift. As one might expect, groups of muggers with missing teeth and fractured bones tends to catch the attention of the sort of people who know a thing or two about asskicking and superheroics and eventually got caught in a pseudo-sting operation by a handful of representatives from the Katherine Evans University For The Gifted. After much deliberation on his part, Daniel eventually agreed to enroll as he figured it was probably his only chance at getting a decent education at this point in his life. As for his sponsorship, Daniel didn't really want to get one, but eventually settled on going with the least commercially active (and also the only) business that had been wiling to sponsor the poor bastard.

  • Name (Civillian): Cassandra Cooper
  • Codename: Sky-High Divider
  • Age: 20
  • Gender: F
  • Appearance: SLICE SLICE SLICE.
    • Costume: Cassie is still trying to figure things out, but in the meantime has put together an outfit customized from a normal fencing outfit. The big coat has had the sleeves both shortened and disconnected (basically making them arm-warmers from the middle of the forearm to the middle of the upper arm, with straps connecting it to the torso). The vest itself has the front bit extended and is made of a thinner material to make it behave more like normal cloth instead of quilting. The mask has had a slice made through it, to reveal Cassie's eyes. The outfit is primarily purple, but there's a thin grid of white over most of it, and a black slice over a cloud in black drawn on the chest.
  • Sponsor: Dojyaan, an amateur video sharing site, often focusing on Heroes, that also hosts Cassie's videos.
  • Gift: Sky-High Divider can... Jump Cut. Her hands become absurdly sharp, like monomolecular knives, as long as both she and the thing she is cutting are not touching the ground. Also, though, she can blink forwards in time by up to five seconds, effectively winking out of existence from anyone else's perspective and, to her, instantly jumping to a new point in time. If anything is in her way when she comes back, she gets forcibly ejected away from it to prevent a Tele-Frag.
  • Flaw: Ironically, edged weapons are exceptionally effective on Jump Cut, and make her bleed like she's anemic.
  • Other Skills:
    • Cassie's got an exceptionally steady hand for tracking shots and a natural eye for composition; she's very very good at making videos.
    • As a necessity for doing her power stuff, Cassandra is very good at jumping, with a three-foot standing high jump and a four foot high and a fifteen foot horizontal leap from a running start.
  • Other Equipment:
    • A really really high quality camera, a DMX413RUNDMC-612SHYGDDT with adjustable lenses and tripods and shit like that.
    • A good computer to edit footage, along with a phone that can edit and compile on the fly.
  • Personality: Cassie's like a sword, direct and incisive. She asks questions whenever she feels one coming on, which is a lot, and she loves to record as much as she can. She values having an impact on people, and tries to cultivate herself as forceful and striking, taking a second to figure people out before going in with a power move to strike a chord with someone.
  • Bio: Cassie was always a big fan of Hero TV, and of filming and fiction in general. She caught on pretty quickly that most of it was fake, but like so was most other TV, and at least it didn't try to say it was real like the news, hiyoooooo! Seriously though, what she really dug was that you had, like, fiction and reality side by side and it wasn't weird, and she was all about that performance and showmanship. She got really into making her own amateur films as a kid, and actually went to a few little indie film festivals to show off her talent to modest praise! Going to one of those film festivals in middle school though, tragedy struck; a truck swerved into them and caused a crash that sent Cassie flying through the air, into a truck on the other side, which had somehow gotten into a second wreck itself and was now tumbling into the air towards her. It was under these extremely ridiculously specific circumstances that she discovered the first half of her Jump Cutting Gift as she sliced the truck to ribbons around her. Then she found the second as she realized she now had hundreds of fucking ribbonized semi truck flying right at her, and she just noped her way into a period of time where they weren't there.
    • Cassandra started on her path to becoming her own sort of superhero that day, a hero of like fiction and messages and shit, to film where few others could and tell stories nobody else did. She got way more aggro with her filming, and actually applied to KEU with the short films she'd made over the years, filming superheroes in their fights from angles Hero TV didn't have and interviewing them afterwards in a real-ass cutting manner that the plebs at HTV didn't do.

  • Name (Civillian): Martin Snow

  • Codename: Paragon

  • Age: 18

  • Gender: M

  • Appearance: Tall and lean with a mess of black hair atop his head. When not in his costume he can be found with a button up shirt tucked into brown slacks. An ugly burn scar covers most of his right cheek and lower jaw. It is fully healed but looks quite bad.

  • Costume: A red and blue full body suit with a cape over his shoulders. Plastered across every inch of the costume are various charities made out in solid black as to be easily seen against the colors of his suit. He wears a blue domino mask and a earpiece and carries a first aid kit on his hip.

  • Sponsor: Rather then having a direct sponsor it is easier to say that Paragon is himself a sponsor for the various charities he wears on his costume. He doesn't ask for any money back and simply carries them as reminders of what the average person can do to help others.

  • Gift: The ability to enhance himself through heroic deeds, or more accurately the more heroic deeds that Paragon performs the stronger he becomes. Speed, strength, sight, hearing, durability, and even abilities such a ESP start to spawn as he does good. This caps out at 100%, where his abilities grow to such a point that it activities his weakness and puts him into a deep sleep. After falling asleep his gift resets himself and leaves him at the base strength of a fit but normal human.

  • Flaw: Paragon's weakness is tied directly to his gift in that if he is not performing a heroic deed he is weakened by a amount just under what he gains for performing a heroic deed. If he passes a cat stuck in a tree and he knows that it can't get down and chooses not to help he is weakened. This is a massive drain during huge emergencies as more and more people call out for help and he is forced to help only one person at a time. By making the conscious choice to help one person and not another he is weakened even as he is gaining strength from helping the first.

However this weakness is only active so long as he knows for certain that there is in fact an issue. For example he knows that somewhere someone is probably falling down, but because that person is not within his presence his power in unchanged. This also goes for his power, as if he doesn't realize he has done something to help he won't gain any power for it.

Once he reaches 100% power the full extent of his ESP is brought forth, allowing him to read the minds of all people on the planet. However doing so opens him to all of the pain and suffering going on, thus by bringing it to his direct knowledge. The blow from not being able to help them weakens him to the point where he is brought into a deep state of unconscious until his mind can erase the memory.

  • Other Skills: Skilled martial artist, Intermediate medical skills, calming voice.

  • Other Equipment: First aid kit worn on his side, handcuffs and rope.

  • Personality: Kind and gentle despite his power Martin is the kind of guy who can get along with almost everyone. His forgiving nature and positive outlook can make him come across as naive to some, but despite that he continues to give all he can for the world at large.

  • Bio: Martin had an average childhood, not filled with loss or any particular bad events. In fact he was about as middle of the road as one could come, until one day where he happened to pass a baby bird that had fallen from its nest. Without a thought he lifted the small animal back into its nest, only to discover that the act had brought forth a rush of strength such that he had never felt before. In his surprise he accidentally bumped into a street lamp and knocked it into the road, which was thankfully empty at the time.
Armed with the knowledge of these new abilities he set about testing them, feeling out his power and using it to help others. Pulling cats from trees, helping pull jammed cars to the auto shop, and diving into burning buildings before the proper authorities could arrive. Doing so left him with a still scaring burn on the right side of his face after realizing that there were more people in the building then he realized, but he wears it with pride. Deciding that his powers were meant to bring a message of hope and justice to the world he adopted the identity of Paragon, joining hero t.v. and hoping his example could set a path for future generations to walk.

I like the concept, a lot but...too old. Too...fully grown. Paragon is at the top of his game.

He works as an adult Hero, the ones on top, the A League. As a KEU student? Not so much.

Also, everyone on the planet at once? Wow. How strong is he, quantifiably?

He might break the settimg if he's too strong.

But yes, I love the Paladin approach. Love it.

I was thinking more of him just entering the game, with knowledge of his power but never having pushed it so far as to reach his limit.

And it isn't really a power, at least not in the direct sense. Reaching even close to his full limit would be a situation where he is either super lucky or like, surrounded by bad guys for miles. Reaching his full power instantly knocks him out.

To put it into perspective to reach fifty percent he would need to spend almost a full day doing normal everyday nice things for people. In an actual battle him building up power relies on there being nothing he can do or anyone within his perception requiring help. The second someone calls out 'help me!' and he punches a bad guy he takes a ding to his power. If he goes to help that person and doesn't punch the bad guy he gets dinged.

Paragon has the potential to break things, if the story needs that. But in reality his power is actual the weakest part about him because it is wholly unreliable. Thus needing training to fine tune it.

However if you would rather I change it to something else I can.

Be better, because what is the harm in trying?

DONE

Name (Civilian): Bayard "Bay" Kahn

Codename: Gamble

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Appearance: A publicity photo. Bay stands at a flat 5'10 and weighs a trim 204 lbs.

Costume: Rather simple in the form of a black domino mask, sleeveless bodysuit, handwraps, and soft-looking boots actually made from some hybrid military material. He also has a body harness capable of carrying anything he needs on an op.

Bay's insignia, discretely sewn upon the chest of his bodysuit, is four six-sided dice springing from an upturned cup, symbolizing long odds.

Sponsor: Lamplight, ostensibly a hotel-casino with branches in the gambling capitals of the world, they are also rumored to fund laboratories that have begun to break ground in counter-Gifted measures.

Gift: Tactile Kinesis - So long as Bay can touch an object, he naturally understands its makeup and homes in on its weakest point. He is then able to nudge that point to a weakness he can then exploit, anything from a loosened knot, an unlocked tumbler, and even screws in their fittings.

Flaw: As a Hero, Bay definitely has to be one of the craftier ones, seeing as he's not optimized for up-close encounters. Especially given the nature of his Flaw. Once he uses his Tactile Kinesis, he focuses on the item he first used it upon. Unless he waits or runs into the exact same mechanism, Bay cannot refocus upon a new object.

Another thing Lamplight's sponsored laboratories have noticed is that at this stage, Bayard only has a given area for how effective his Gift is. While he can weaken the wrist joint of a battle robot that has him in his grasp, affecting the whole arm is still out of the question. Same for affecting biological matter.

Other Skills: Among the following are his most notable skills.

Escape Artist - With the backing of Lamplight, Bay takes daily classes on escapology, studying the techniques of the greats like Major Zamora, Antony Britton, and the greatest one of them all; Harry Houdini.

Contortionist - Born to a Cirque du Soleil performer, Bay has grown up giving people a fright by climbing into hotel dumbwaiters or popping out of suitcases.

Athlete of Athletes - Thanks to both his Gift and the superb training under Lamplight, Bay's fitness is roughly on par with a French Foreign Legionnaire. Along with years of crosstraining in judo and muay thai, he also has recently come into his second kyu of Aikido.

Other Equipment: Along with a flesh-colored comms bud fitted into the ear, Gamble's sponsors have given him a pair of state-of-the-art contact lenses which act as a multi-purpose visor.

Personality: Off the bat, Bayard is not very sociable and far more serious and career-minded than any 19-year old has a right to be, thanks to the schooling sponsored by Lamplight. He can be very forthright and focused on his tasks, with no patience for showboats, those who share their wit too much, or those who think they can outwit organizations.

But once the working hours are done... Not much changes, but he gives great attention and care to cultivating his little row of potted plants. And Bay also seems to have a fondness for the composer Liszt and New Orleans cuisine.

Bio: The child of the security director of Lamplight, Las Vegas and a dancer for the most renowned theatre production in the world, the glitzy hotel was his playground, especially when his Gift manifested at the age of 8. Not the best way for a once-carefree child to grow up, but now he is paying back his big ol' family, as the troubleshooting specialist of Hero TV!

Alright, I'm interested. I am part of a superhero RP (plus its spinoff), but I may have a few ideas for this one.

(Quick note: This was mainly improvised on the spot, so I'm willing to accept any criticism for it. I am changing and altering it as I go right now.)

  • Name (Civilian): Alex Selby.
  • Codename: Ion.
  • Age: 19.
  • Gender: Male.
  • Appearance: [1] (Looks much younger than his actual age. Height 5'7.)
  • Sponsor: None. He prefers to be an unknown.
  • Gift: Electrokinesis, along with its subset, electromagnetism (although to a lesser extent.) He can fire a stream of electricity from his fingertips, and can gradually regain power without an external source. He can also use his electromagnetic abilities to travel, floating for short periods of time, or grinding on electrified rails like a maglev train. The extent of his electrokinesis is mainly untapped, but he hopes to become more powerful during his time at the KEU.
  • Flaw: Vulnerable to water (for obvious reasons) and overloads during stormy weather, causing him to pass out from the large amount of static electricity until the storm has cleared. Another problem is the fact that if he overexerts himself, he could burn himself out for at least a few hours, leaving him unable to activate his electric abilities. An unexplained, bizarre Flaw is that he is vulnerable to hard, sharpened rubber rounds. I'm not kidding.
  • Other Skills: Athletic and agile, he has trained in the art of parkour for several years now, further helped by his electromagnetic abilities. He has the skill of being able to mentally map out a path as he is running, making him quite difficult to catch. Incredibly adept with technology, although he is mainly focused on upgrading his suit than taking requests.
  • Other Equipment: The only equipment he has is his suit, which he had designed with multiple layers to protect him slightly from bullets. However, it is unfinished and prone to ripping, especially around the face area.
  • Personality: An introverted individual, he is prone to segregating himself from other people, mainly to work on upgrading his suit. He puts on the façade of a sarcastic, cynical person, although he is in actuality kind-hearted, and willing to help others as much as he can if they are in need.
  • Bio: Alex was born in Low Town, and his Gift manifested shortly after. As his abilities grew, his parents showed concern for his lack of control. They reluctantly sent him to a regular school, making great effort to hide his electrokinesis, but to no avail. After many struggles and close calls, however, they agreed to send him to the KEU when he was of age in order for him to learn to control his abilities. He began work on a superhero suit, hiding his immense excitement under a mask of indifference. He claims he hopes to get his own workstation in the university to further his advancements, however he truly shows excitement at growing more powerful.
  • Leitmotif: Inferiority

...Well, just need to do finish the Bio instead of it being one paragraph, but aside from that, pretty much done here.

  • Name (Civillian): Christopher Xylion
  • Codename: The Extravagant Enigma
  • Age: 19.
  • Gender: Male.
  • Appearance: ...This, I guess? Green eyes.
  • Costume: THIS. ...Just with slightly less sparkly cosmos, actually wearing the mask with with a top-hat and occasionally a digital sort of cape to go with it. Don't worry, the change in hair-style and mask actually works better than you'd think as a disguise.
  • Sponsor: Safety Style Fashions -A corporation aimed towards the slightly wealthy and important sort of clients, they specialize in designing clothing for formal and fancy occasions...and surviving any possible surprise assassination attempt during said times. Their logo is a tuxedo suit with a shimmering silver sword standing in for a tie. Part of his job is usually being a model and promoting any new ensembles that need selling.
  • Gift: Dazzling Radiance - With his rather fancy looks, fantastic outfit, X has managed to turn his glitz and glamour into a rather effective and somewhat versatile tool. While at the very basic level, it's simply disorientating or temporary blinding evildoers by directing his shining sparkles and while sunglasses take out some of the sting, they certainly still sting and burn on contact, meaning they can be used as a weapon.

  • Flaw: Being overly dramatic, isn't exactly taken seriously by the public despite getting results.
...In more serious terms is is that his Gift's nowhere near as effective if he's taken a few punches to the face or his costume's starting to get tattered and dirty as he's...rather brittle and bruises/bleeds quite easily, even if his suit is good at absorbing and blunting...blunt/kinetic sort of impacts, but torn easily with bladed sort of weapons. Although going just for the outfit may cause...an unexpected power boost instead.

  • Other Skills: Fancy Fashion - Unsurprisingly, Chris is ahead of the curve when it comes to fashion, along with designing and repairing both clothes and armor.

    • Standing on Stage, A Hero's Time To Shine! - If the mask, charisma and flair for the dramatic didn't make it obvious, he's quite the actor. If the Invite to KEU/Hero TV never showed up, it's more than likely he would've found a career in acting regardless. And while he's content to let his comrades fight their own battles, he seems to have an uncanny knack to show up at the most opportune moment and lend his assistance...!

    • Bright As A Star - While he's not exactly physically strong with his slender physique and relying on his Gift and Gadgets for most of the work, he's swift on his feet and very intelligent.

  • Other Equipment: Multi-Purpose Cane - A rather ingenious device that functions as either a blunt weapon, a makeshift grappling-hook, something to trip an opponent up with or simply a stylish accessory to go with his outfit.
    • R.O.S.E (Remoted Ordered Shredder Explosive) - On first inspection, one would assume it to be nothing more than a simple crimson rose. On closer inspection, it's a rather potent projectile where the petals are the main weapon. Simply thrown at an opponent, it 'blooms' when primed before exploding, the flimsy looking petals hardening and shredding through armor meaning it's reserved for mechanical, heavy-metal wearing foes or reducing fire-arms to useless pieces of scrap.
    • ...And THORNS. - Much like his trusty roses, Bougainvillea is another flower he tends to carry on his person when it comes to fighting. As before, it tends to rely on Chris having somewhat decent aim as the stem of the flower expands into a mass of vines and thorns laced with a sedative to pacify/subdue his opposition or at the very least, keep them tangled up.

  • Personality: While wearing his mask and 'in-character', Christopher is confident, sure of himself and flits between a Paragon of Love, Justice & Truth...or an insightful sort of fellow trying to project an air of mystery when assisting his comrades. Without the mask and facade, however, he's a bit more reserved and composed, even a little shy at times.
  • Bio: Unlike most of his peers, Christopher's family and social standing is higher up on the ladder, coming from a wealthy family. His father used to design armor and gadgets to assist in dealing with rogue Gifted, while his mother was and is still is a well-known actress/singer.

  • Name (Civilian): Mariam Harlow
  • Codename: Hot Stuff
  • Age: 19
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Mariam looks a bit like this. She has two goat-like horns growing from her head, and reaches 5'11", horns not included.
  • Costume: Mariam wears a charcoal black skin-tight suit and jacket. Grooves in the design of the suit help Mariam shape her armor into scale-like designs. She wears a classical brooding hero eye mask to accentuate her anti-heroine look.
  • Sponsor: The Crocorade Company, a sports drink manufacturer that originally developed a patented oral rehydration formula to help athletes stay hydrated. They transitioned into hero sponsorship when they discovered an untapped niche for a hero-themed sports drink.
  • Gift:
    • Mariam's Gift produces igneous rock from a surface she touches, allowing her to petrify criminals and build small structures, as well as disintegrate the igneous rock afterwards.
    • Though it requires skin contact, the rock that grows from contact points has a range limit of about 2.5 meters before any further and it isn't strong enough to hold together.
    • Petrification is not instant, and since it begins with a brittle layer it can be resisted, so Mariam has to be smart about how she uses it. As a last resort, Mariam can also heat up the rock to induce heat syncope, though this carries health risks on the victims.
    • By coating her skin or costume (aided by grooves in the design of the suit) a certain way, Mariam can form a durable armor that impacts her mobility as minimally as possible.
    • Mariam's Gift has often been called villain-esque, but she resents that judgment, and has fashioned it into her subversive style.
  • Flaw: The more Mariam uses her Gift, the more her body heats up. She has to moderate usage of her Gift to prevent suffering symptoms of hyperthermia and dehydration, and while her costume helps to keep her cool, it's not a perfect solution. In an absolute emergency, Mariam has to remove her armor to cool off.
  • Other Skills: Mariam is a decent gymnast, martial artist, and particularly good at ukemi. She's also pretty good at taking care of animals.
  • Other Equipment: Mariam is literally always carrying a bottle of Crocorade. She is sponsored by the company, after all, and it helps her stay hydrated during her work.
  • Personality: Though marketed as a sultry anti-heroine, Mariam is truthfully a passionate and big-sisterly young woman. She is overly concerned with her image, and takes great steps to ensure her colleagues know she isn't unapproachable.
  • Bio:
    • Mariam is a country-raised girl from small town Oregon, born to a human father and a Gifted mother who died in Mariam's early childhood. Unlike the other kids, though, Mariam had little horns protruding from under her hair. At age 9, Mariam was the only kid in her class to have a Gift manifest, but this only reinforced her "future villain" image. The other kids in the playground told her she'd make a great supervillain with a power like petrification, but Mariam wouldn't have any of that.
    • 5 years later, Mariam moved to live with her grandparents on her mother's side—both Gifted, but not possessing Gifts suited for hero work—who operated a small pet store in New Hope City, where Mariam could get better support for her Gift than out in the countryside. There, Mariam realized the full extent of her power's reputation, and decided to prove everyone wrong by making it her long-term goal to become a professional hero. To her, Miracle was the image of the ideal superhero.
    • After long hours of hard work training in preparation for the KEU examination, Mariam pulled through, much to her grandparents' celebration. The only problem was that tuition was money Mariam didn't have.
    • Despite her grandparents' offer to sponsor her under their pet shop, Mariam accepted a sponsorship from the Crocorade Company. She believes this choice drove a rift between her and her grandparents (but they aren't really that bothered by it).
    • Unfortunately, marketing told Mariam she'd never sell her appearance and Gift with the same kind of image as a hero like Miracle, and she was persuaded to settle for something a little more anti-heroic.

I may actually change Alex's personality a bit - I feel like having him a bit more of a sarcastic, technology obsessed person will be easier to play for me. Plus a more technological background makes sense on how he made his suit. I will have to remove his exploding tech Flaw, but I feel like rubber rounds, water, and lightning storms are enough of a weakness.

  • Name (Civillian):Velita Stiles
  • Codename:Psycon
  • Age:19
  • Gender:Female
  • Appearance:Yes, she's 19. Yes she's very smol for 19.
  • Costume:Just make the helmet the same blue as the top and add a white cape, voila!
  • Sponsor:Stiles Family Bakery, her family's shop!
  • Gift:Vels was born with amazing Psychokinetic powers, used both for utility and combat.
Utility: A consciously emitted sonar-like wave is pulsed out from her body, allowing her to "see" what's around her, able to even extend through some thinner walls and ceilings. Excess energy also can be used as a personal shield in combat.
Combat:Velita is able to lift herself and up to 1 ton of other material with her mind and throw it about. She can also focus psychic energy around her palms to make a sort of energy-like blast.
  • Flaw:Velita's blindness and psychic powers may have greatly enhanced her senses, but that may be one of her bigger weaknesses. She is highly prone to sensory overload if she's caught off guard, overly emotional, or goes over her limit. This usually ends in her becoming disoriented and vulnerable for a time while she collects herself...and possibly causes her to lose control of her stomach. Also, while it's easy for her to pick up inanimate objects, she has much more trouble using her power on living targets. The added stress of the target's resistance pushes her to her limit faster, causing an overload faster or outright not working at all if she cannot concentrate or if the enemy is prepared.
  • Other Skills:Due to her family's shop, she's actually a pretty good baker.
  • Other Equipment:Her helmet helps her to block out external stimuli while on duty.\\

  • Personality:Bubbly, very much determined, but gets flustered quite easily.
  • Bio:Velita Stiles and her family began as small time bakers in a rural section of Florida, living day to day on their business. Velita, the only child, was born blind, but that simply made her want to help more as she got older, eventually learning the layout of the bakery like the back of her hand. However, this peaceful life soon ended as Anti-Gifted activity flared up in the area. Members of a self-proclaimed "terror" cell known as Potentia Illis Qui Offenditur, or P.I.Q.O, began making death threats towards the Stiles, Mr. and Mrs. Stiles being known as Gifted in the small town, going so far as to break shop windows with note-attached bricks. The family persevered however. After all, it was just some group of bigots, right? For a time, that's all they were. One day, masked men broke into the shop, brandishing weapons and calling for blood. It was at this time that Vel's own gift had awoken, she was only 12 at the time, blasting the men out of the shop with a burst of fear induced energy. After this, the family decided it was too dangerous to remain and packed up, settling down within New Hope City itself. Nowadays, they still run a bakery out of a quiet section of Low Town, and Velita has decided to take up the Hero business to help support her family!

Hoooooo, that took longer than expected. Hope y'all like it!

@Extravagant Enigma: He's in and I love this guy.

@Gamble: No prob, KR. Gamble is in.

@Psycon: Okay, I've personally had experience playing peeps with TK, and let me emphasize how hilariously broken it is. People count as material. Force choking and even immobilizing them so that they can't do a dang thing.

Everything else is good, so just let me suggest a Flaw. Cannot affect other Gifted. That means you can ragdoll mooks but not the big guns.

Or if that's too limiting, allow a way for people to break free from the TK grip. All I ask.
