I'll give a very slight yes to 1.2.

Yeah 1.2 shows you what is going on exactly. The first one is vague without context of the show at hand.

I would vote "no caption." The image depicts something horrible, and I think a caption would distract from the image.

For the captiion, I almost want to suggest "Putting the bite into crime" as a play on Mc Gruff the Crime Dog's old Catchphrase.

I think it's fine with no caption.

I don't see how the caption in adds anything due to the context of the image placement. The reader should understand that this is a Complete Monster and as such should expect killing dogs to be just one of many of this character's crimes.
