A troper removed this image from Artistic License – Biology with the reason "not a good image at all". Whatever the quality of the image, they should have brought the issue here instead of pulling it unilaterally (I've sent them a notifier already). Thoughts on the pic itself?

Pic looks fine to me. I don't think that any of the conditions they mention would cause the sort of structure shown in the image (the long bones of the arms being made up of overlapping plates, extra sutures in the pelvis, two extra spine-like formations multiple pieces making up each rib....)

I have no qualms.

I don't see the problem.

Wouldn't a single image suffice along with the right caption?

[up] I could get with that as the pic, with a suitable caption.

I like that one. It makes it much clearer that not only are his bones weird, but that he has bony structures that are completely non-existent in humans.

Yeah, 6 is better.

The only small detail is that it looks a bit awkward with his head half-cropped. Good image otherwise.

It looks like a pan shot downwards that is why his head is cut off on the second pic. It can be fixed though. There is an alternative depiction worth considering here.

The reason I removed the picture is because 1) It's not easily understandable without knowledge of bone structure & 2) Most of the other AL pages have no image.

[up][up]I find that alternative better. The colours don't really add much to the clarity, and I find the difference from normal human anatomy clearer in the manga image.

[up]For the first, most people know that humans don't have three spines, and for the second, that's not a legitimate reason.

11.1 or 11.2 (alternative shot)?

I think I prefer the color version of 11, the text in the manga version is sitting firmly in Captain Obvious territory.

Here is 11.2 with the demotivator frame cropped off, and edited to read left-to-right. However, I don't like it: it's not an example of any of the (many) tropes on the Artistic License – Biology index; it's more like Bizarre Alien Biology.

Maybe this instead? It's an example that doesn't fit the subtropes on the index. (source)

... Darnit, Rodney, you're right. The current is Bizarre Alien Biology. Which is not Artistic License.

Changing my vote to "remove it and find one that does illustrate the trope".

Thumper is a decent start, if it's true that rabbits don't have paw pads.

That's a good point.

Wikipedia is very clear on the rabbit's foot thing: "Unlike some other paw structures of quadruped mammals, especially those of domesticated pets, rabbit paws lack pads.[citation needed]"
