Medusa is just all "This is tearing us apart!"

"YOU'RE TEARING ME APART, BLACKBOLT!"

I couldn't resist.tongue

[up]Or just better written. It could have been a movie or a TV show or what have you. It wouldn't have mattered as long as the writing was good. But it wasn't. Sad to say.

Dear god this is painful, well enough done that I can keep watching but still incredibly painful, like they’re still dodging around the fact that they’re a bunch of racial supremicists that want to keep ‘lesser’ people as slaves.

So much of what Maximus is saying and proposing is good, even with this all being for selfish reason he’s still better for the kingdom than Black Bolt. In the end his speech about if it matter is right, he’s doing good and making the world a better place, sure he’s doing it because he’s a petty little shit who hates his brother, but his hatred isn’t even unjustified, his desire to no longer be regarded a lesser due to his genetics, it’s very sympathetic.

I imagine that one could dub in a number of uses of the word human with the N-word and it was still make a sort of sense in context, it would also highlight exactly how bigoted and evil the Royal Family are.

'The time on Earth changed me.' Yeah RIGHT Karnak, so we're really supposed to take these, what, 2 days AT best you spent among drug growers for character developement? Especially since you acted like an empathyless jackass even after this towards Mordis? Yeah, no.

Crystal is sooo deeply in love with a guy she barely met?

Oh great, Triton isn't dead.....to be a stereotypical uber-ninja without any character whatsoever.

And off course the rest isn't much better. I really, REALLY hope this show get's cancelled. I do NOT want to see this nonsense ever again.

"The time on Earth changed me." Really? Well, called it, I guess. Barely any time passed and nothing particularly unique happened. You met a girl and had sex, that one pot farmer might as well have been Jack Torrance for all the sense it made for him to start killing everyone, and you left. What exactly was the big lesson you learned from all this? How are you any different, apart from that untreated concussion you still presumably have?

And if we're using Karnak's story as the clock for all this, at most it's been three days they've spent on Earth, which means Black Bolt was somehow processed and sent to jail in a matter of *hours*, and at no point did anyone call in the agencies that deal with people who can throw a car through the air with superpowers. I'm kind of glad nobody at AOS had to be associated with this dreck, but they really just did not care.

I feel for the actors. They're trying so hard, but they can't overcome the bad writing and direction.

There's a germ of a good show in this mess. The Inhumans are jerks, hate humanity and keep up a rigid caste system then they get cast out and at their lowest point, they see humanity isn't so bad and they'll use those lessons to be better rulers and destroy the caste system. Meanwhile Maxmius's plan starts out as virtuous but in the end is exposed as self-serving. That's a good story. It's just executed so poorly. The Inhumans were written to be so callous all the time (especially Crystal who just came off as a brat), Maximus made more sense and looked like a revolutionary, and his henchmen had more personality. Like Mordis didn't even seem that bad, just a Deadpan Snarker upset at his current situation. And they missed what could've been an interesting situation by making Karnak's powers a result of terrigenesis.

If this mess gets another season, Scott Buck needs to be far away from it. This is strike two. A movie would've been better just to allow for better looking product, but a show could've worked if they had the motivation. I mean, look at that poor intro that looks like it was made with a child playing around in After Effects.

Alright, final episode aired.

So...this felt kind of decent I guess? I was starting to think as the show progressed that the actors were giving less and less of a shit but here, they gave it their all. Lots of acting, lots of emotion, lots of stuff that did kind of suck me in for once.

Maximus, yeah I've kinda backtracked on being too sympathetic towards him. My final analysis on him: he's essentially a childish man who has been abused and looked down upon for so long that he wants to be on top, even to the point where he acts outright petty and kinda whiny. I don't so much hate him like I think I'm supposed to as I outright pity him. I feel sad for him not in a "Oh wow what a guy" way, I feel sad for him in a "Jeez he's been treated like shit for almost his entire life and he's so goddamn fucked up by it". If anything I feel like he's probably the most engaging character in the show by virtue of being the most sympathetic and probably one of the best actors on here. Hell, his final fate is outright tragic really: he's locked forever in a bunker that can keep him stocked with supplies for eternity, as the "King of Attilan", the only person left there.

Medusa and Black Bolt get a lot of time to shine here even though I still call bullshit on them "doing this for the people" or whatever. Mount's body language here is in full on overdrive and his acting shows definitively that, if this were made by competent people, this could've been a performance to be well remembered. As it is now...it's a good performance in a bad show. Medusa also is doing pretty well but I also call bullshit on her somehow being Maximus's only friend. Everyone was dumping on the guy, including her.

Karnak is still one of the worst characters here. I honestly can't tell who's worse, him or Crystal, but ya know what fuck it I'll take Karnak. Crystal didn't get shit to do this episode and admittedly she didn't get shit to do in most of the episodes, but Karnak is probably the most morally reprehensible people on this entire show. Karnak brings his cousin back from the dead and leaves him as a barely cognizant lumbering hunk of muscle prone to fits of rage, and yet he's all "Oh I'm so sorry I know what I did was bad!" and like...fuck him, really. He did it out of selfishness and the Royal Family don't even punish him for it.

As for the ending, uh...okay so they just dumped a bunch of Attilan refugees on Earth now. What'll they do? How will Black Bolt lead their society on Earth? Where will they go? How will the government react? Will they blend into human society or what? What the fuck was Black Bolt talking about when they kept mentioning him worrying about another threat? Is it the Kree or something? Is Gorgon gonna stay as a barely sentient walking corpse forever? Are they just okay with it? Did any of these stupid subplots of Karnak and the pot farmers, the stupid farmer bro and the surfer bros even mean anything? This isn't a happy ending, this is just...it's just fucking stopping. Nearly 60% of this entire show was filler. Iron Fist had less filler than this.

And I'm gonna put this last point in spoiler marks: The entire show has similarities to the entire Thor trilogy, and this is no exception. I swear they fucking aped the whole "Asgard isn't a nation, it's the people" thing and the refugee thing from Thor: Ragnarok. I dunno if it was intentional or what but I immediately noticed how a lot of the stuff in this episode was pretty blatantly similar to Thor: Ragnarok, all the way down to almost verbatim quoting the aforementioned line about Asgard, just replaced with Attilan.

So uh, yeah I feel like I didn't have any burning hatred here like I did with the past couple of episodes but overall this show was one of the single worst watching experiences in my entire life. At its best it's just kinda decent and at its worst it's mindbogglingly stupid. This episode is probably the best one by virtue of being the most decent and because it's where it finally just ends.

Edit: Actually come to think of it, this episode felt almost like it should've been in a later season. We barely get to know anything about Attilan but now boom, it's gone. No more Attilan. These guys were really aiming to rush this, weren't they?

Browsing the show's subreddit, apparently Anson Mount said somewhere that a couple of times behind the scenes he'd try to rehearse with the other actors but then the producers would come and make them start filming, and apparently the pilot's script wasn't even finished. Does anyone know of anything to back this up?

[up][up] If even half of what I saw people on other forum's claiming was said in interviews it was extremely rushed. I saw people claiming that interviews with the actors said that the script wasn't even finished when they started filming the pilot.

This could've been another Guardians of the Galaxy: introducing an awesome and lesser known group of characters and immediately putting them in the limelight. Not the same tone obviously, goofy space opera vs super powered royal drama, but it could've been great if they had actually fucking CARED TO PUT SOME GODDAMN EFFORT INTO IT!!! FUCK! I'VE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS EVER SINCE IT WAS ANNOUNCED!

I think that the season final was probably the best episode of the series. Too bad it will probably be the series finale, though.

I think that the actress that played Medusa did a good job, too.

Two key steps for Marvel Television going forward: 1. Don't hire Scott Buck, and 2. Don't let Perlmutter meddle with it.

Like hot dam are they all capable actors, they gave it their all and delivered brilliant performances.

But hot dam was the plot stuck with issues, Maximuse was so right in so many ways (I loved him calling out Black Bolt on never having gone into the tunnels, that and him knowing Black Bolt’s sign language) and it overshadowed a lot of stuff.

In the end they acknowledged that Maximuse was right to want change, he wanted it for the wrong reasons but he wasn’t lying when he spoke about their society being wrong.

I hope they show on on some other shows, because there’s no way in hell theyre getting a season 2.

I've been thinking, you know what we should have gotten instead of this? A Kamala Khan Ms. Marvel animated series.

I've wanted an animated adaption of it ever since I read the new Ms. Marvel series, and since she is an inhuman, this would be the perfect way to introduce that corner of the universe. I could see it being something like Kim Possible mixed with Spiderman, while also having elements from the larger Marvel Universe, with a special emphasis on the Inhumans.

Another reason that I actually really like this idea, is we would finally have a female, Pakistani-American Muslim as a the main character in a superhero cartoon, which would be awesome on so many levels.

Does anyone have any other ideas for what you would want a Mrs. Marvel Animated series to look like?

I'm picturing a more episodic Wake Up, Go to School & Save the World type stories, centering around Kamala and her supporting cast, but a changing status quo and longer background story arcs. There would also be occasional reoccuring supporting characters from the larger Marvel Universe, like Lockjaw and the rest of the Inhumans. I also think that their should be an appearance from Captain Marvel at some point as well.

Honestly, that's kind of what I'd want out of a Ms. Marvel animated series. Episodic Wake Up, Go to School & Save the World type adventures with season long arcs, too. But yeah, a show format would really be the best for a Ms. Marvel adaptation, and animated makes it much easier to have her powerset with a TV budget.

[up]I feel like that could apply to most of the inhumans, which is another reason I would love to have an animated adaptation. Then we could actually see them actually use their powers, without breaking the budget or having it look awful and cheap.
