Dredd is...let's face facts, a bit of a dick. I have no quarrel with using him as a page image.
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursI don't get "good" from 26. And the big letters in the bg are irritating.
^ Good Colors, Evil Colors. The villains in that comic look like this.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I agree that "good" might not be obvious to someone who is not familiar with the character, cops are frequently the bad guys.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.^ As often as they're the good guys? It's not called Cops And Robbers for nothing.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Good Is Not Nice should just depict a character with good intentions, but whose personality is that of a jerk. Seeing a lot of superhero suggestions here, and cops, but it doesn't need to be one of those.
How about Blackquill from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice? He definitely wants to help his kohai, but chooses bitter words to do so. This is just a sample:

That guy actually looks way more like a bad guy than my suggestion. It's also a bit too elaborate to be really effective.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I have to agree.
Re-clocked again; this will be the last time.
Beyond the consensus to move the Batman pic from Good Is Not Nice to Good Is Not Soft we've been deadlocked for a while now with this one, so to resolve this I compiled a crowner out of the most concrete suggestions on the last two pages.
The only ones I didn't include were Wolverine #1 (too many panels, not clear which is being offered), and Superman+Captain America, which are as pointed out, closer to other tropes (Red Eyes, Take Warning and Good Is Not Soft, respectively). I'd add that Superman in context is also closer to Beware the Nice Ones than a hero with a good moral core whose behavior is just that of an asshole.

You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I have another character proposal from the Ace Attorney franchise. This time it's shorter and more to the point:
The bottom panel may suffice.
Not enough context to establish the "good" with just that one panel. The 2-panel plus the caption is pretty good.
Can the crowner I linked above be hooked to the thread, please?
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I added my 2-panel entry to the crowner.
Crowner's hooked.
Since Frank's considered an example of both tropes how about we use the PSA for one of the tropes and get a good image for the comic page? Go back to the gun that shoots swords maybe?
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursUpgraded the Cyclops image. Reconsider.
My complaint with Cyclops is that I actually had to look up who he is (I'm not into the superhero universe) to understand why he's supposed to be good. The picture itself should show that.
Fair point.
Votes bump; three in the green, two in consensus range.
From Archie-Sonic comics: One version with the (irrelevant) "whut's up doc" line, one that omits it but leaves the stem note of the speech balloon. Then again, I presume that said stem could be mistaken for anything else.
Also, what does the Ace Attorney one add that wouldn't work as a page quotation? Even the Punisher one only works better as an image than a page quotation if you recognize his appearance.

First, I think that picture misses the meaning of the trope, or at least that's my impression (not a fan of Sonic, so I don't know the great scope of what's going on). Looks like Sonic is taking the other guy(Eggman?)'s suggestion sarcastically, in a reply to a taunt. Plus punching someone does not equal not being nice.
Second, I don't really understand the "a quote would work the same" argument I've been reading over IP recently. If that was true, over half of the pictures on the site would be worthless. Text is sometimes necessary to represent what can't be represented visually. Just because a pic has text, it doesn't mean it should be dismissed. If I'm missing something here, just tell me, because I'm still learning how IP works.
And third, not everyone knows The Punisher, so leaving out the text is not an option. I don't know who that guy is and wouldn't have known he's good without the text.

Nominations for replacement images:
Perhaps the pic on Lawman Baton would fit better here? The rudeness is emphasized since he's addressing the reader, and there are plenty of alternatives on the Image Links subpage.
