This one, by the way is from Kirara MAX, much like Is the Order a Rabbit and Kin-iro Mosaic.

My work schedule's messed up my anime watching to the point that New Game more or less breezed through me, but hey, it's a new season right? Oddly enough, this is ALSO about game design, but unlike New Game, we've got a doujin circle of high school kids creating amateur video games. Who would have thunk?

Is anyone subbing this?

Daisuki's streaming it, one week after the Japanese air date :(

I like it a lot more than New Game (which may not be entirely fair since I gave that up after episode 1). It has that Kirara factor. Well, New Game was Kirara too. But it didn't have the factor somehow.

The character types seem more appealing to me and the voice acting is really good.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

Being Kirara without being Kirara? Are you sure you're not talking about Castle Town Dandelion and not New Game? ;)

But yeah, this does seem to be more of Kirara (specifically MAX's) mold, doubly so because of the school setting and it being about teenagers again, rather than adults that acted like teens (which was the case in New Game).

Hmm just watched it and umm I think this is the first Kirara series in a long time that I did not like. I mean the cast felt like they had no chemistry at all and no real effort into anything.

Yes, I have finished watching the fansubs twice, but I want to check out Daisuki's subs tomorrow before saying anything. Daisuki also mentioned they'll be releasing the second episode tomorrow. That said, this is clearly a keeper.

One thing I can be sure, though, is the thing about Hoshi-no-Tsuji's school club system, and the way the episode treats Tama and Yumi's joining of the clubs, smacks of people joining doujin circles than Japanese School Clubs to me. Is that the Reality Subtext?

Article launched.

Oh, by the way. I've read some comments about this series being the wordiest for a Kirara series (author went to Tokyo University, after all); please confirm.

The raws I've found don't really give that impression — GA Art Club had panels upon panels of just exposition about the styles used, for example.

I love how Programmer-chan says mean things and regrets them later...she's basically my spirit animal. Personal favorite, so far.

Getting to know everyone...there were hints before, but Tama-chan is definitely an ojii-san lover, confirmed. Everyone thinks she's cute. Hard-boiled shounen.

BGM-chan is really kind and social. Unless you're acting up at her job. Or if she's composing, when she makes weird noises. She's basically a very genuine person.

Scenario-chan has a lot of past shame...poor....poor Ayane....she also has the best voice actress.

Really though Ayane is just a poor, unfortunate soul...

BL-friend likes BL and is a good friend. The leader of the Tama-chan fan club. Not much else is known about her so far.

The ending music is pretty good.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

Shiina feels more blunt than mean to me. Her and Ayano taking jabs at each other is amusing. It's also funny that Yumine's into yaoi, but she'll be damned if anyone dares to corrupt Tamaki in the same way.

I'm happy this series was worth waiting for. No one feels too typical, the humor and interactions deliver, and I dig the washed-out look. I'll be keeping an eye on this

4chan is having a shitstorm over Daisuki's subs (for being overly localized). Of course I don't mind.

[up] 3 mins in atm and the one thing I do have an issue with is them translating 方言 as "hick accent" when it really means "dialect".

There's a WORLD of difference between accents and dialects.

EDIT: 4 mins in and they translated 新入生 (new students/freshmen) as "noobs". Okay, I'm done. I'm just gonna watch this raw, fuck the subs. Someone clearly didn't give a shit when they translating this series, using a derogatory term to replace a perfectly normal word.

I also stopped watching after that. It just felt like it wouldn't be an enjoyable translation. On the other hand, nothing before that point had given me any reason to bother to watch it raw or seek out a different translation, so I just didn't watch it.

[up] It was only like 2 mins of show up to that point. Most shows don't give you enough of a reason to watch in the first two minutes.

You could say the same about the subs, but the way I see it, if they're not going to bother respecting the people behind the show by translating it properly (already making two egregious mistakes within the first two minutes), then the translators can go suck it.

It seems Tamaki has a Freudian Excuse for her uncommon fetish for older men: her father only comes back once a month.

[up][up][up], [up][up]&[up] I know the issue of translation is a Berserk Button among anime viewers, and my view may be partly be contributed from Values Dissonance (as Hong Kongers tend to see no issue in localization), I don't see Daisuki's subs as inherently bad, or what is being raised here as errors.

I can live with translation style choices; I can't live with a case causing Spell My Name With An S. In this case, I refer to the scriptwriter.

Admin: And attempt to change her name to "Ayano" on this wiki will be changed back to "Ayame."

So, I know Daisuki would only release the subs tomorrow, so I'd spoiler most of it, and be really brief.

Episode 3, where there is a sleepover.

  • Shii calling a sleepover just a month into school. And seems Aya is the blame here.
  • Wow, Shii's negativity.
  • We all know Tama lives in the countryside, but this ep gives a glimpse of her big-and-not-very-fancy-house.
  • Tama seems to make good matcha.
  • Shii seems to warms up a bit. And turns out Ayame's Schedule Slip issue actually has improved.
  • The latter third of the episode is Ayame stating the game's plot. I'm not going to type it here.
  • Technological point: Shii seems to have installed SAI on Tama's computer. And that computer still runs Windows XP. Is it fine?

Assuming that the work is like 2 years old, XP should have been a little outdated but still fine.

Edit: Holy crap SAI only requires Win 98

As a user of Sai, I'll have to tell you, right now, that while SAI COULD be run on older OS, you're practically required to get something with heftier memory than P Cs that could run run XP or 98.

Shiina overpacking for the trip reminds me of myself, though I wouldn't bring bear countermeasures unless I was camping.

Yumine is really protective of Tamaki.

Damn, don't ever make Tamaki's grandmother mad.

I kind of feel sorry for Ayame. Got into trouble for circumstances she had little control over :o

Tama's house is really, really nice, and Ayame's writing is really, really bad. The cool old men are the only things saving that story.

I don't think Tama knows her grandma as well as she thinks she does. evil grin

Actually I wonder why Teru chose Ayame to be the writer anyway. She always struggled to supressed her Chuunibyou.

Trivia: This series is instrumental in getting the new trope Likes Older Men get launched, since my adding of Tama's case in the corresponding YKTTW bumped an entry that has been stagnant for about 2 years.

I dunno, she doesn't hit any of the usual checkmarks for Chuunibyou, plus rather than pretentious stuff, her choice of subject matter seems to be just steamy than fantastical. In short, she's the type of girl who writes lemons, but at the same time wouldn't touch actual porn.
