Later trailers have shown Jyn emoting in a more natural fashion, so I'm not too worried about her at all.
I continue to be shocked, if one narmy line can turn folks off to a character so utterly, that anyone likes this franchise at all.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. And let's be real, you are wearing some seriously thick rose-tinted glasses if you think Star Wars has ever been narm-free.
To be fair, it's not like narmy dialogue hasn't caused fans of this series to hate characters before.
Narmy dialogue is like sand. It's course and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. It's not that it's a narmy line, it's what said narmy line is. It makes Jyn sound like a tryhard Katniss Everdeen IN SPAAACE expy. Not that characters strongly inspired by other, older characters is anything new for Star Wars.
I mean, I'm personally not that put off by it. I'm still really hyped for the movie and eager to get to know Jyn. People accused (and continue to accuse) Rey of being a Mary Sue, after all, and I think that's unfounded.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?I'm mostly indifferent to things like that. Trailers are just trailers, they often lie, mislead or miss the timing that could make a line like that work. But however you look at it, the "I rebel" line is not a clever line to begin with and it coincides with the big reveal of the lead character, who visually did not live up to the criminal hype the trailer used. So I can get why people seemed to focus on it. The trailer for Civil War had a completely different line reading in the trailer than what ended up in the movie "He's my friend." "So was I."
There's no outright spoilers as to what is actually IN the movie, but obviously I wouldn't watch it if I wanted to go in completely blind.
The "This is a Rebellion isn't it? I Rebel" line was indeed cut.
So no "The captain says you are a friend," no Jyn facing down a TIE, no "the world is coming undone", and no Darth Vader in front of a screen.
Just came back from watching it and loved it.
Did anyone else hear "General Syndulla" being called for at the rebel base? Because I did.

Okay then. Time for me to have a complete social media blackout. Don't want to be spoiled anymore, lol.

Just came home after watching it. Found it mostly forgettable. Wouldn't recommend seeing it if you're on the fence, wouldn't recommend against it if you were planning on it.
Ceterum censeo Morbillivirum esse eradicandum.Going to watch it in a few hours, I was always more hyped for this movie than TFA.
I do hope this hype wasn't misplaced.

Can someone who's seen it answer a question for me?
Spoilers: Several people have mentioned an explanation for something that has annoyed fans for decades. Without spoiling anything else, what is that?
This song needs more love. The Death Star exhaust port. Galen Erso was the one who engineered said weakness, likely playing it off as a necessity for the Death Star to function.
I guess I can get behind that. I can't say I was particularly annoyed by the whole thing but it's neat detail.

This song needs more love.So a case of I Knew It! then? A ton of people were predicting that beforehand.
What role does Vader play in the film? Is he simply a One-Scene Wonder final boss?
I honestly guessing that one of the antagonists is going to go out by Vader saying You Have Failed Me to them following the climax.

Well you should probably watch to see, but in any case: Vader shows up for two scenes, and while he doesn't engage with our main characters, he does get some amazing action. And no he doesn't kill any imperials, though he does force choke Krennic a bit.

Hold on, I heard the movie was out on Friday. Was I misinformed, or does it just come out earlier outside of the States?
but HOW?I'm guessing it must have come out earlier outside of the States. And even in the States, you can go see it as early as tomorrow, at least in some places.
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."Especially after the shooting at the Dark Knight Rises midnight showing, theaters have the go ahead to increase the midnight showings for big releases like this, even have a few in the evening the day before so as to minimize crowding and better accommodate movie goers.
Most don't do midnight showings anymore it's like 7 pm when shows start, because of that.
Indeed, that's what my local theater is doing.
You guys are so fucking lucky. I don't get to see it until Sunday.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
Context means a lot. Jyn looks utterly generic compared to all the characters around her. Give it to a gruffer looking and gruffer sounding character and it could come across as rather badass. Instead she sounded like a teenager trying to sound tough.
