By the way, I don't write this, but I've been recently going over this again, and I feel like plugging for another fan writer about one specific character: Aurelina Canidae (linked page is SFW), the next mayor of Zootopia and an interesting character.
Finally got a new chapter out. Way to usher in the new year.

So for anyone tracking this thread: What are some of your favorite Zootopia fanfics that focus on characters other than the main two leads? I thought the Love in Bunnyburrow one which centered on Gideon and Sharla (whom he renamed to Mary...for some reason) was a delightfully cute and charming one.

I believe I've already mentioned Hundred-Yard Dash, a hilarious one-shot focusing on Flash. I also read a bit of a story whose name I forget; an AU in which Judy was killed at the museum and Clawhauser has to continue her investigation.
Also, would stories that focus on only one of the two leads with the complete absence of the other count? They're somewhat rare, also.

I read a pretty good one that focused on Jack Savage and Nick and Judy's interactions with him, but I haven't actually read very many.

Well, while people are posting, I may as well share the AU idea I had today. It's like an updated version of a 'Dark Judy' AU I came up with ages ago; DFW will know what I'm talking about.
This leads into a chain of events that result in Dawn's future turn to evil being averted, Lionheart losing the election and becoming a used car salesmammal, anti-small-mammal discrimination going back up, Judy herself running for mayor five years later and winning but at the cost of becoming a Knight Templar willing to use cut-throat tactics to achieve her goals such as hiring criminals like Nick Wilde and Finnick to break into her opponents' homes and offices to plant hidden cameras and bugs, Dawn attempting to expose Judy's corruption to the public out of guilt, all three of them becoming fugitives, Nick being convinced to infiltrate City Hall in disguise to gather information, Chief Bogo getting fired and replaced with a mouse, and Duke getting a job at a Carrot™ Store.
Probably not something I'll actually write, but I've made a little more progress on Chapter 12 today, so maybe that's a sign I will. Maybe. ...Most likely just here for proof of concept purposes. I have something different in mind after BvB. :V

That reminds me, I need to continue that AU fic that I'm working on xD
I hate to self-promote, but I actually feel like this is some of the best humor writing I've ever done. Basically, after watching the movie I started thinking how hilarious it would be for a world-weary cop (think a sort of amalgam of Riggs and Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon) to be put in the Zootopia world. I made him human because there's a lot of humor to be derived from the fish-out-of-water element of that. Then it turned into a Buddy Cop movie, because of course it did.
Of course, I didn't realize that Human in Zootopia fic has a really bad rep, apparently. I confess I'm not 100% sure why, precisely, but it seems to be affecting how many readers I'm getting. But, I'd still like people to read this because I really enjoyed writing it.

Speaking of...the recent flurry of activity, and a chat with one author in particular, has inspired me to make the spectacularly dumb move of trying to actually write a fanfic featuring my OC. Might not ever get done, and I know some of it has been done before, but I just feel like writing something.

I've been cycling many ideas through my head as of late. I really want to write a shortish story about Duke. Featuring heists! And gambling debts! And grand theft auto! And possibly Phil Rasconovitch! The difficult trick is getting all the pieces into place, as always; I have these scenes, but how to string them together?

She's not, strictly speaking, a Zootopia OC, but she can easily be made into one (though that also necessarily involves making her way more shady).
That's exactly the same kind of problem I have, too, but go for it—if nothing else, it can be a picaresque, and Duke was one of the more amusing characters, so I'd read it!

And is the character you're talking about... Nakhta? I suppose you could turn her into a Zoop character, but you'd need to change her name and body type before she'd fit in. :V

I do mean her. Body type, certainly, but as for her name? She's going to be Non-Specifically Foreign (and if it helps, she does have a last name, "De Renaud").
I have a fully fleshed out OC that I'm currently building a fanfic centered around her: Murana Delante Wolford. Synopsis short: She's a Lemming Brothers Bank CEO by day, crime fighting vigilante by night similar to the Punisher where she won't hesitate to kill her victims. She's also married to Officer Wolford of the ZPD to complicate matters further and has two adopted sons: Steven Stinkman, a skunk, who works as a journalistic reporter at ZNN and recently adopted Max Thrash, a torch key raccoon, from an orphanage.
