Episode 2. In which a certain kind of pony joins.
Their cooperation abilities are somewhat lacking.
She had that one coming from a mile away.
She's not an offensive type, even if she is very offensive.
Why does he say they can't handle them after killing two of them?
A chuuni who's actually likely to possess even a tenth of the power she claims. That's impressive.
So her chant begins with "Darkness beyond twilight," and then rapidly becomes worse. But "Explosion" is the favourite spell of Louise. Only she can cast it more than once. And when she wants to cast something else. Usually when she wants to cast something else.
That's actually a powerful spell. After all that buildup, I was almost expecting a fizzle.
You never actually see him defeat a toad, but he's certainly capable of killing two at once, alone.
So, she really is like Louise. Can only do one spell.
I think he could benefit from some problem children. If they're from another world.
Of course he's made out to be the villain.
She has issues.... She's gonna fit right in.
He managed to kill them on his own because the toads don't move or fight back while eating.
Okay, so alone with a useless load good for nothing other than as bait.
Check out my fanfiction!Episode 3: Her name is "Darkness," she's an even bigger chuuni than the other one!
Also she totally has Jasper's gem on her chest.
Madly waving the panties in the air.
I like that this anime abuses the female characters way more than the perverted male otaku harem lead. It's a change of pace. I guess dying of a heart attack from a tractor and having his own family laugh about it was abuse enough.
Darkness stahp.
An erotic fate.
Cabbage...swarm. Even the cabbage in this world isn't vegetarian friendly.
Darkness is having the time of her life.
I like the pink bunny girl and the person with the goggles and spiky hair wearing a bikini.
What happened to the lavender-haired thief?
This anime is so great.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Episode 3. I which there's luck of the drawers.
She's excited about what happened to them? She's very, very weird. In a good way.
Well, at least a tank doesn't need to attack.
For some reason, I think it's enough to have one mage with Explosion.
The girls sure have no sense of personal space. Kinda like me.
He should remember to call her that whenever he needs her off his back.
"Seems" relatively competent. That'd be a first.
He's easily sold.
That should be good practice, at least. And is Steal agility based, or luck based? Should really figure that bit out first.
Enemy Detection is almost always a good idea. Lurking can be useful as well. Pilfer is a must-have. It's often the only way to get some items. And they all work well together.
Yup, it's luck based if it picks something at random. He's getting the dagger. And maybe her underwear.
Yeah, that one was obvious. It really is luck based.
He kind of deserves that if that's what he said. Not that she also doesn't, though.
He seriously hasn't figured out what her issue is at this point? But her reaction is for once very straight-faced.
This is going to be something stupid, isn't it?
The holes in those cages seem a little larger than the cabbages...
Well, she is a tank.
Kinda funny that they seem to be more inspired by her than what she thinks they think.
What? Explosion should be useful here. Just aim away from people.
Okay, fair enough. Aim away from people who can't take it. Which would still include the people hiding behind the tank.
I like that. They're not forgetting him. Praises all around.
She kind of reminds me of Yellow from Gonna Be The Twin Tail.
A harebrained Arch-priest, a chuunibyo Arch-mage and now a perverted Crusader. This is clearly the best party ever.
Yeah, the part trick might look silly now but when you get stranded in a desert (and there's always a desert area) you'll change your tune.
So he can only steal panties? That sure will limit the usefulness of the skill. Also it means Aqua is immune.
If you don't want people to think you are a creep, don't act like one.
The best thing about Kazuma is that he's so much of an ass, I don't have the slightest inclination to sympathize with him, and am free to laugh at his misfortunes.
Attention, the town is under attack by a horde of... cabbages? Farming in this world is hardcore.
Darkness wasn't lying, she can tank like a champ. Too bad she can't land any attacks of her own.
Now this was a good time to use explosion magic. It even pre-cooked the cabbages.
Like it or not, Kazuma got himself a party. Time to go on an adventure. Or better yet, the adventure will come to them.
Supposedly you could only steal from one target anyway, but people can also interpret it that Aqua is not wearing any panties TO steal.
I love how stealing here acts exactly how it appears in video games, rather than hitting people over the back of their head with a sap, then mugging their pockets while they're stunned.
I prefer how the manga portrayed it. A Flash Step past the target, and quickly swiping something in the process, rather than the dumb fancy light show in the anime. I have no idea which is truer to the LN, but I still don't like that light show.
Also, Kazuma could also steal bras in the manga. I think it's partially affected by his aim.
Well, usually in games the character at least steps forward to do something attack-like, rather than just creates a ball of light in her hand.
Considering the way she's drawn, I'm leading towards the nothing-to-steal theory. If she's wearing anything at all, it's dental floss up the dark parts of her arse.

Check out my fanfiction!Episode 3:
Can't hit anything, but good at tanking. Darkness loves to defend, and she wouldn't have it any other way. She also takes harsh criticism rather well. All of that just turns her on, ya know?
So Kaz's first skills are thief skills. Good for his luck. But there lies a problem with Steal; he'll get to be lucky while someone else gets to be unlucky. Or vice-versa. Luck's a curse.
Those cabbages wouldn't look so out of place in the Super Mario universe.
A parlour trick it may be, but in the hands of a water goddess, Nature's Beauty has its uses.
Excellent comedy. I've been overwhelmed by greed and read ahead, and I can positively say that four-person party never stops trying to fuck each other over in the most hilarious ways.
Just caught up. Enter the explosion-happy chuuni mage and masochist tank. They are great. Especially Megumin.
Best party ever, ad nauseam.
This show needs more EXPLOSION.
But holy crap darkness... Go get your own dungeon to work through that girl because.. Damn.

Episode 4 was fun and gave us our first look at one of the Devil King's followers who seems like a reasonable Headless Horseman who just wanted some peace and quiet. Aqua can also be useful sometimes and I found Megumin collapsing repeatedly far funnier than I thought I would.
When they mentioned that one of the Generals is stationed nearby I was like "Yep, he's in that castle.", lo and behold...
It's like Darkness learned everything she knows about being a knight from porn magazines.
I love how Aqua waited long enough for them to have a touching scene before casually breaking the curse.
Episode 4: In which Megumoomin is an asshole who harasses an innocent man in his own home.
Darkness is really something else.
And then Aqua ruined any hope of adventure or plot progression by being competent for once.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Aw, lettuce gets no love.
In Search of the Greatest Explosion. Blowing up an abandoned castle every day can make one appreciate such a delicate art. But was that castle really...
...Yep, it was occupied. Where else would the general of a terrifying army reside anyway? And boy, was he hopping mad. Goddarn whelps disturbing his peace!
A feared official of the Demon Lord's army, caught off guard by the insanity of our heroes. Especially Darkness. Hey, maybe they stand a chance after all!
Kaz and Megumin. Together, they will beat the stuffings out of Dullahan. Together, they will save Darkness from the dark future(?) that awaited her. Together, they despair at the sight of a competent Aqua.

Not only is Explosion magic noisy, the poor Dullahan also has his helmet on all day, which amplifies the noise and gives him a huge headache.
I prefer the way the manga handled it; the anime dragged out the punch line a little too much. If you're interested, it's Chapter 4.
Episode 4. In which the heroes are worse than the villains.
Is that an actual Create Water spell that doesn't cost as much as that party trick?
He's being somewhat dismissive of her armour. She's going to like that.
So she likes long and hard objects?
"She's coming this way. This isn't good." And then she smiles that completely sincere smile of hers. Yeah, I think he's got her down pat.
Luck again. At least that's justified by being a coded value.
Gee, I wonder why they don't like frogs.
"I am not." Suure. Although the best part is that they're open enough to actually joke about it.
Does she ever stop thinking about money?
An abandoned castle. Sure. Probably has nothing to do with the recent high level monsters moving in.
They sure go through the seasons quickly. Also, sturdy abandoned castle.
He is kinda unusually mean to her.
Oh, neat, a Dullahan.
Isn't it obvious? It turned into a previously planned plan once she started bullshitting her way through the encounter.
Tank time.
The way she thinks is awesome. That is all.
Aqua does have her niche. Sometimes it's even useful, if mood-breaking.

Check out my fanfiction!I do love it how, when left to themselves without any outside forces butting in, that the biggest danger to this party is themselves. That's impressive.
That said, we're kind of introduced to the first of the Overlord's minions here and... He's a reasonable fellow that minds his own business unless you bother him too much? That's surprising for a guy who runs around with his head under one arm.
I'm definitely thinking that there's more to this than meets the eye. For all the comedy we're getting, there's just GOT to be a reason why people native to the world are outright refusing to be reincarnate back into it, if some people at Asuki are to be believed.
the show's tone, the world is pretty dark. In the frog's mating season children tends to get eaten, there's a giant spider tank rampaging for years on destroying one country after another, a whole religion of creepy scammers that uses every trick in the book to make you join them, A whole race of overpowered chunni mages, female orcs which have raped to extinction their male counterparts (and won't hestitate to do the same to the next unlucky passing guy), corrupt nobles capable of sentencing to death people they don't like, and a walking Tear Jerker that is the death of every harem protag.
Fixed. Honestly, these are almost all played for comedy, so I don't think it's that big of a spoiler.

That full paragraph should probably be marked as spoiler. That Tear Jerker appears before the princess or after? Because I think the english translation has not got to it yet.

The one thing that didn't require a spoiler tag got one, while all those massive spoilers were left unmarked. What.
you know as a MMO player, I admit I would do this if I got a piece of awesome raid gear.◊
Whats up with the Dullahan's horse being headless too? Thats the second time I have seen it in a work.

@Sebastian: It should be impossible (logically) to steal their panties considering their legs or clothes would be in the way. Like how do you even steal the underwear of someone wearing shorts? Basically, 0% success rate. But his luck is so high it becomes 100%.
Anyway, it felt like the comic timing took a nosedive this episode. Also, while I'm not sure how it went in the LN, the manga made it clear Chris had no intention of returning his wallet unless he stole it back or stole something more valuable than it. So him celebrating stealing her panties becomes something more in line with his evil laughter moment in the first episode - returning the favour when he's been treated like dirt.
