Here's what I hope for:

Best Picture: I can't say, so many good movies.

Best Actor: Leonardo Dicaprio - Come on now, give him one already.

Best Actress: Charlize Theron

Best Director: George Miller

Best Cinematography: Mad Max: Fury Road

Best Original Song: See You Again, from Furious 7

Those are the ones that I can think of at the time being.

10 nominations for Mad Max, including Best Director surprised No Charlize Theron tho. Does Tom Hardy getting nominated for another film count? :p

I want Room to win Best Picture so a drunk Tommy Wiseau will go on stage to accept the Oscar.

I guess it is a safe bet that Inside Out will win best animated picture, even though Anomalisa might (big might though) deserve it more.

I would also be very surprised if Leonardo Di Caprio doesn't get the award this year. Let's be honest here, when someone gets passed over that often, there will be a point at which the academy just has the feeling it has to give it out, and there was no other performance which was that good that it could be considered iconic.

My money is also on Fury Road for Cinematography. And on Cinderella for best costume design...honestly, that was the one movie with costumes everyone was raving about.

I think that Fury Road or Star Wars might pick up Visual Effects and The Revenant will probably get Best Picture.

Fury road has chances in a lot of categories, but it will never ever win best picture. The fact that none of the main actors got even nominated is a give-away in that regard. Best picture will most likely be a fight between The Revenant and The Martian. Those are the movies which are nominated in multiple categories, and let's be honest here, the best picture winner should be a movie which is just overall noteworthy.

Yeah, I wouldn't be remotely surprised if Fury Road didn't.

That said, I do think it is overall worthy. I mean, it IS one of the, if not the, most acclaimed movie of 2015.

However, it MUST be noted that it was nominated for Best Director. Generally, Best Picture and Best Director were always locked (with some exceptions, which would usually make the Oscar snark that a Best Picture film apparently directed itself.)

Meaning, Mad Max Fury Road would have been one of the five nominated BP when there were only 5 BP noms.

I'm usually not the type to yell about snubbing but jesus Creed got snubbed. Jordan didn't get nominated for best actor, Coogler didn't get best director and the movie itself didn't even get a best picture nomination which is BS imo

Also Ex-Machina didn't get a best picture nomination either, which is also BS (personally Ex-Machina and Creed are probably my 2 picks for movie of the year and I'm not expecting my own personal tastes to line up with that of the Academy but the fact that they didn't even get nominations is bullshit.)

[up]I don't know...I wouldn't say you're wrong, but that isn't a bad list. There aren't any WTF choices on that list.

I was hoping Inside Out would get a nod, myself.

Inside Out should win for best original screenplay. The basic idea and creative process to design that story was a challenge all on its own.

Yeah, Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler not even getting nominations for Best Actor and Director is some serious bullshit.
