The Paladin seems to have a problem with being overly broad. On the one hand, it covers the archetypical Knight in Shining Armor combined with Incorruptible Pure Pureness and Right Makes Might. On the other, it covers a particular mechanical build, a sort of Combat Medic / Magic Knight with Holy Hand Grenade powers. This causes problems, as the description talks about how paladins (talking about the archetype) are Always Lawful Good, and then the examples (talking about the mechanical build) have plenty of villainous and/or evil characters in it.

Seems to me that the best solution is to split the trope into The Paladin (covering the personality archetype) and something like Holy Warrior (covering the mechanical build), but I wanted to run it through TRS before I made a change that significant.

Declining to open. Looking at the examples, a split will not help this. The problem is people shoehorning anything with the name Paladin into the trope rather than reading the trope.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick
