random thoughts:
- Sufjan Stevens not being anywhere up there is a damn crime
- That Kelly Clarkson record might just be the single worst album I've ever heard and it's presence in all the pop-categories over the absolute embarrassment of more worthy candidates is a fucking joke
- I'm really happy Hiatus Kaiyote snagged a nomination, the song and the album it's on are absolutely sublime
- As awful as she is, reports suggest that Meghan Trainor is actually the third best selling female artist of the year behind Adele and Taylor so her noms are unsurprising, if disappointing, but hey
- At least it wasn't Halsey
- D'Angelo's multiple noms makes me really happy and I hope he wins the lot of them, Jazmine and Miguel are both lovely but he deserves the recognition, Black Messiah was fantastic
- As much as I loathe the term "alternative music" I'm extremely pleased Björk got a nomination for Vulnicura, it's easily worthy of higher titles but it's at least the most deserving album in that bracket (Tame Impala had some fantastic singles but the album was a bit of a mess)
- I'm not sure she should win as the album was a bit all over the place but I'm glad to see Lianne La Havas getting a mention, she's really wonderful
- The lot of them are all rather safely chosen but I could be less pleased with the dance categories, Flying Lotus, Caribou, Jamie and Chemical Brothers wouldn't be terrible wins either of them
- It's probably a pipe dream but I hope Kendrick Lamar cleans up the top categories, possibly only losing Record to D'Angelo

After all that hype, Carly Rae getting shut out of the pop categories is a shock. I guess both singles charted poorly and there you are.

Time to watch the Chemical Bros win some more Grammy's lol.
They deserve it tho. Da Brothers gonna work it out
…Björk is nominated? I thought the Grammys were only for American artists.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.*reads noms* oh good, I needed more confirmation of how bullshit the Grammys are...doesn't mean I won't tune in, but I'll be watching with a sense of righteous indignation at the awards and just try to enjoy the flashy images and performances that'll be full of more effort than most of these performers put into their own shows. And probably Dave Grohl will be there bitching about "music these days" like he always does. He's so silly.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.On a different note, I just listened to that D'Angelo song for the first time, and it is pure art. Convinced me to buy the album, at the very least. Have a listen:
I was rooting for "Uptown Funk", but this probably deserves the accolades more—"Uptown Funk" has had a whole year and a half of hype already, whereas this song has been barely heard, relatively speaking. I'd probably be cool with D'Angelo taking Record of the Year (as it is probably the most artful thing in that category) and Uptown Special taking Pop Vocal Album (as that whole album is a gem among gems).
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.If T Pa B doesn't win Album of the Year, this'll be a bigger Award Snub than when MBDTF didn't even get nominated.
"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"Well, technically, no, it isn't, but in practice... it kinda is.

I still need to finish listening to that album. I listened to about a third of it and I liked what I heard, but I wasn't exactly in the best position to devote my full attention to it when I was listening. Very complex, and I need to actually have the lyrics up probably while listening since I'm bad at lyrical comprehension when just listening to a song.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Who's in here dissing my main man Dave Grohl?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Hey, like him or not, you can't doubt that he tends to go on too many ignorant rants about modern music.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. Not really? I mean, he's at least not an asshole about it like some people can be. Otherwise, the guy is pretty cool.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Man, I can't wait for To Pimp a Butterfly to not win.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."what do you mean?
"If you spend all your heart / On something that has died / You are not alive and that can't be a life"Last time Kendrick Lamar had a critically acclaimed universally liked year-end list-topping masterpiece out, he got pretty heavily shafted. He lost every award he was up for, I think.
And Macklemore snubbed him for three of them, just to rub it in.

The Grammys in general tend to pick the most non-threatening hip-hop albums to give awards to. With how racially-charged TPAB is, it has virtually no chance.
That said, I fully expect 1989 to take album of the year.

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Didn't Macklemore even agree that Kendrick Lamar deserved the award?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Yep, he sure did, although Kendrick apparently wished that he would've kept it between them. But don't quote me on that as I'm paraphrasing.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."The official stream starts in 20 minutes right over here, covering the red carpet and all of the pre-show awards.
Oh crap it's tonight?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Yup. The actual show won't be on before a couple more hours but they're streaming everything that won't be televised at the moment (which includes about 99% of the actual awards, natch).
edit: here's the schedule for the pre-show awards in case someone wants to keep up◊

Can't they just make a "best Kendrick Lamar song" category? That would probably be quicker. >.>

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. So that was a bit of a calamity.
Awaited with equal amounts of dread and anticipat... ok, mostly dread, really; the nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards will be announced some time tomorrow.
Predictions, postulations, etc etc?
Oh, and that album is ineligible for this year, she'll be cleaning the board next time around instead.
