Why?

What's next? Superman 64 on Steam Greenlight?
Don't take life too seriously. It's only a temporary situation. You know, as a self-aware parody of Totally Radical 90's 'tude, a Bubsy revival could be interesting.
As anything else, it seems 500% pointless. And what is this, just a port of the Genesis games on Steam? That... kinda boggles the mind. Not enough nostalgia, or even So Bad, It's Good to justify that (nevermind the fact it's from one of the most pirateable systems ever).

The Protomen enhanced my life.Still with the awful puns, I see.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesIt's probably going to pass through Greenlight on nostalgic lulz-votes. Modern audiences carry a certain sense of novelty for stupid 90's crap, and Bubsy's got enough notoriety that he might just qualify.
He'll make it onto Steam strictly because the idea of a Bubsy revival on Steam is so ridiculous that, to a great deal of Steam members, it can't not happen. It's too stupid to fail.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I kinda have a soft spot for Bubsy since he's a cat and I love cats XD
Plus his lines in the first two games imply he's a struggling actor who can't catch a break, which given how his series turned out is oddly prescient and more than a little sad.
The Protomen enhanced my life.and who exactly was asking for this again lol
though honestly this is too hilarious to not pass steam greenlight
This is going to attract 2 crowds: people upvoting for the lulz, and people turning this into headline internet news and calling it the death of gaming.
Bubsy doesn't seem so bad, 3D aside. Definitely not a great franchise, but his one abysmal game has overshadowed his other more playable games and turned him into a joke. I hope this gets off the ground.
He'd probably be better off if he did.
I mean, Turbo's reign sucked for Vanellope, but King Candy made out like a bandit for an untold number of years. Sure, the last five minutes sucked, but all things considered, he was much happier than he would have been if he'd just let himself cease to exist when his machine was unplugged.
Ralph, meanwhile, only overcame his personal troubles, found happiness and fulfillment in his life, and made peace with his game as a result of going Turbo. It didn't come in the form he expected but it never would have happened if he hadn't gone off-game in that ill-conceived gambit to earn a hero medal.
Going Turbo is awesome and always has positive consequences for your life.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.About two years ago I contacted the guy that created Bubsy. He makes murder mysteries now, along with his wife, and when i confirmed it was him that made Bubsy I asked if he was interested in making another Bubsy game.
Here's what he said.
"Thanks for your interest in Bubsy. Seems that whoever purchased Accolade retains the rights to Bubsy, and I don’t know who that is. I know it’s not me, though, so I couldn’t make another Bubsy game without that company’s agreeing. Also, it took about 12 people to make the first Bubsy and about 14 people to make Bubsy 3D, and unless you’ve got a couple million $ lying around, I’m pretty sure I can’t do that kind of work myself. ;-D
I’ve been focusing on making smaller, self-funded games, like the murder mysteries, since I can manage the programming, art, music, etc. myself, and my wife and I write the stories, dialog, etc. and get them shipped in a reasonable amount of time. I’m currently working on a “casual game” for the iPad.
I’m happy to hear you liked the bobcat, though. It’s nice to hear from people who enjoyed him, Check me out on Wikipedia if you like, and I’m sure there’s lots of articles about Bubsy on the web.
Best, — Mike"
The Protomen enhanced my life. The first Bubsy game was decent. It wasn't a world-beater, but it was a lot better than many of the other wanna-be platformer mascots that came out around the same period. It tries too hard at several points, sure, but taken by itself, it was pretty fun.
That said, the sequels got progressively worse. Bubsy 2 took out much of what was charming in the first game and forgot to replace it with anything (literally - that sucker was short). And, well, we all know about Bubsy 3D.
The way that's named has me thinking it's a repackaging of the first two games. That said, I think a self-aware Bubsy could return. I'd recommend a Teen-rated homage to Conker's Bad Fur Day, except with a self-aware Bubsy (who already had an Animated Actors or Leaning on the Fourth Wall bit going already) trying to get revenge for Bubsy 3D.
EDIT: Yeah, I accidentally said "Bonker" at first. I'm at work and perhaps a little distracted.

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Bonker?
The Protomen enhanced my life.I'm remembering Some Call Me Johnny's review of the whole series. He didn't like a single game during the entire video.
He either wouldn't be pleased with this announcement or optimistic about it.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!he wasn't the only one who didn't like them. Jon Tron thought they all sucked too.
I haven't really watched Jon Tron so I wouldn't know.

well, this is an interesting development.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.Dude.
No way.
I'll admit that I have always had a soft spot for the Bubsy series. I wonder what this could lead to if this gets off the ground?
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Not for nothing, but maybe a more polished port of the first couple games could be exactly what the series needs. Improve the mechanics a bit, fix the enemy placement, get rid of fall damage, and it could actually be a decent (if not earth-shattering) platformer. Those games had some decent ideas, but it's just that they also had some horrible ideas that overshadowed the good.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here. It's a sign of the a-PAW-colypse.
I'll see myself out.
"I'll show you all of Paris, I'll take you on a tour, we'll go up and up and up so high they'll long for an encore!"in particular the bubster needs to turn down and not go so damn fast. the main issue was that they had mario-esque level design but the controls feel more like sonic.
in that sense it's easier to just adjust bubsy's speed to make him more like mario than redesign the entire game's levels for his controls.
From what I have heard Bubsy was pretty much a Sonic clone personality wise with horrible puns (not that Sonic's too cool for school thing was any better)

the main thing is that sonic doesn't say anything. he has personality but it's much more subtle, like him tapping his foot impatiently when the player doesn't give any inputs for a bit.
