CoLC crossover RP, discussion

@josh6243: If I required you guys to be good writers to be in my RP, I would have kicked out like half of you already.

Besides, I don't want to be super strict about things, hence why I'm not making rules about what I brought up or putting anyone in trouble. It's just some things that have been bothering me a bit, (and at least one other person that I know of) and I'd like to see it happening less often. That's all.

The part about describing everything I actually found more amusing than I was bothered by it but I can see why you would be annoyed by it.

And the not progressing issue I actually found funny how every time Caro said they should get moving something or someone shows up that makes them stay there for a little longer

Oh, I see. The entire reason I made that post was because I felt bad about not making a single post all day, but I didn't consider that combat rules were still in play. I'll watch it in future, then.

Well, Tick saw the direction Xan got blasted in, so he was calling in the direction that he assumed Xan would still be sat, since everyone else was still worked up about him. Part of me wants to go back and tweak that sentence accordingly, but I'm not sure if that would be necessary.

@Lizard: It wouldn't be necessary in this case, but if you really want to that's up to you.

As for me, I should get going for tonight. Tomorrow my shift doesn't actually end until after the 24 hour mark for my last boss fight post. I should have a break during which I could recap on my phone, but I'm definitely not going to work on a main post on my phone during a work break. So I'll see about working on a post for it as soon as I'm home; once again I'll probably post for just the boss fight first, then type up stuff for other scenes and either put them in a new post or edit that one.

I, on the other hand, am not very good at being evil and will often find myself uncomfortable with any of the less moral decisions I can make in a game

Very sorry for my absence of the last few days (this goes for all the RPs since we share a playerbase), I managed to discover Dark Souls 3 AND Hearthstone and it's understandably been doing wonders for my productivity.

@Morality in Games discussion: Considering I'm really bad at strategy in general I usually end up playing diplomat through necessity.

Same with me. I cannot, for the life of me, be aggressive or mean towards anyone in a game. Unless it's an action game, and in that one I still pick all the moral choices (if there are any).

Then I join a bunch of RPs as psychotic assholes and it balances out.

In my defense, I usually just sort of end up evil out of a lack of other options after my initial "What does this button do?" behaviors end up destroying vital resources. For example, it turns out a "mass driver" is actually a giant space railgun, not a method by which to move a planet out of the way of a hungry space amoeba.

...actually this does explain why I like Cole. I was just trying to help, and I destroyed the Mrrshan homeworld.

On phone before work, @Syrika: Okay, "half" was certainly an exaggeration, but our cast would definitely not be unscathed if I required good writing to stay in the RP.

This is me, totally. I have a lot of trouble playing bad guys.

I used to find myself playing mostly upstanding characters on these forums.

That said, I've recently found myself playing more neutral-to-villainous characters (The Think Tank, Steeljaw, and of course, Rick), so I guess I've changed a bit.

Also (because I am very bored at work today), trying to balance the characters for the purpose of a fighting game is hilariously difficult.

I've already decided that while Cole has pretty weak attacks, he can go invisible which means he can cheap out on you like a bastard, and Mary is also fairly weak but quick, and short enough that high attacks go right over her head. (Probably has a Rage Meter too if we're being honest.)

Sans, if he's not just a straight up Glass Cannon, is as insanely powerful as he would be, but if he stands still or is kept in constant attack/motion too long, he gets bored/tired and falls asleep to be open for free shots, so you have to balance his consciousness via holding him still and moving him in a particular time frame.

Figuring out how to balance Ben and the Omnitrix was a nightmare, but I finally figured on a similar mechanic between trying to keep his cooldown and human forms on time limits like Sans's consciousness. You can turn into an alien and wail on people mercilessly for like 15 seconds...but then you're squishy and pretty much defenseless for the next 15. Better to change for a few, change back, build your meter back up, etc.

In times past, I used to love playing the villain. One part of me still does, though it's not happening here. However, nowadays I prefer writing nice guys (or girls, as the case may be).

On a different note, I think I know who I'm switching to now. Only problems are that 1. I'd be basing his abilities more off conjecture than anything, since the one time you see this character fight it's while he's in a form too powerful for this RP, and 2. HOLY UNDERTALE SPOILERS LIKE WOAH

Don't you see him do a bullet pattern near the beginning of the game, though? Also, I've been thinking that Cassiopeia could use an apprentice, so if you happen to change your mind, do you think Zelda would be interested in learning magic?

Just who here hasn't played undertale, hasn't been spoiled beforehand, and actually cares about being spoiled, though?

Simple: Just treat each of Ben's forms as separate characters.

Battles in fighting games only last for like... 10 minutes tops. Ben can stay in an alien form for 15 to 20 minutes, if necessary for a half an hour.

As you are of course aware by now CM, Persona had a fighting game spin off, so Aigis requires no real balancing for a theoretical fighting game appearance.

@wikkit: I haven't played Undertale but at this point I know most of the spoilers anyway. Let me guess, it's Flowey, isn't it?

Something I've done since I was a kid. I love designing fighting games, and/or trying to fit other games into the format. I actually had a full one mapped all out in a pile of notebooks when I was like, 14, with 32 playable characters, family members, backstories, histories, movesets (and the button presses to activate them), a spin-off comic, all kinds of shit.

In hindsight I should have gone into game design >_>

What do you think of the idea of each of Ben's alien forms (or at least the more combat-worthy ones like Four Arms, Cannonbolt, and Diamondhead) being a separate character?
