Todays episode was mostly about Meifon and Kasumi, both of whom I like. Particularly Meifon

Next episode looks to be about Akira, who I have some questions about, so that's good

Why did Charlotte and co appear to fall for Mirei's lie about being responsible for taking the clothes? They know she's only been on the island for two days, whereas this was apparently an ongoing problem. Or is she so valuable to them that they're willing to let the real culprit run off while they capture her?

I think Charlotte is more interested in maintaining her authority than in actually taking care of problems. And she has it out for out protagonists. And Kasumi would likely prefer to take in an unrelated troublemaker than the actual culprit

It looks like Kasumi is well aware of what's going on on the island. Having a theif take stealing supplies to help those who don't join Welter is likely something she wouldn't mind happening. In other words, I think she's Neutral Good.

Yeah, Kasumi seems to be like she's going to be the Token Good Teammate.

So I am guessing that Zero Arm is an Exster who goes Bare-Fisted Monk on people, right?

Liked episode 3's exposition. We learn more about how the island works and what becomes of anyone who doesn't join the school.

I also liked that Mamori initiated the transformation this time.

I finally have access to a decent computer so my impressions on episode 3

The series keeps the momentum by mixing action with plot exposition. We finally know more about the life in Mermaid just like we get to know a little more about out current adversaries. Charlotte is essentially just a huge bully that just loves to flaunt her power while Kasumi is a pretty level headed and sympathetic woman whom only fault is to being loyal to a (possible) faulty system.

Mei Fong proves herself to be a very interesting and rounded support character while Torino fits the team mom role perfectly. Lady Lady are our very sexy wildcards while Mamori and Mirei keep being adorable. Is fantastic the way their relationship is developing and I'll be real sad if we don't get some honest to god cuddling between them at some point in the series. I mean, Mirei's utterly smitten with Mamori.

As long the series continues to keep the quality set by these three chapters I believe we'll have a masterpiece on our hands.

[up][up] I also like that Mamori was the one to initiate things. She spent episode 2 trying to reject being a weapon and wishing for a prince to save her. This episode shows she understands that if she wants Mirei to be her protector, she has to be willing to be Mirei's weapon. It's a nice bit of character growth.

Character development from an Echi series? What madness is this?

Eh, I think that's fairly common. After all, Japanese media has a knack for taking absurd concepts and making them... interesting, to say the least.

Yeah, Kasumi seems to be like she's going to be the Token Good Teammate.
Yeah seems that way, though I think Reasonable Authority Figure may be more fitting, considering she's still willing to do her job, she just doesn't revel in it the way Charlotte does.

Anyways, she shot up my list of favorites thanks to her badassery this ep. I hope she does turn around to the protags side eventually, but who knows at this point.

I'm probably not going to stop gushing about this show's music, but the tune that played when Lady and Lady showed up at the end was awesome. Other than that, I pretty much agree with what already been said, especially regarding Mamori's development, which I'm glad for happening now rather than halfway or further into the series. Mei Fong's alright, for now, and Torino was as adorable as I was expecting (though the sub I watched kept having her say she's the big sis rather than the mom archetype she so clearly is; I don't know enough Japanese to know if that's what she's actually saying).note

Next episode's going to be interesting, especially with the Ladies' ominous comment about hypocrisy. And watch it turn out that Akira is actually a guy, despite what viewers may think.

Well Akira's stat chart did not even list cup size or breast weight unlike all the others even the AAA bra sized cowgirl got listed.

He might really be a he.

btw N Cup is way excessive, her boobs weigh 22 pounds...

I am genuinely impressed that the main characters have so far avoided killing anyone given that one of them becomes a pointy object.

[up][up][up]Torino does refers to herself as onee-chan. So is an accurate translation. Considering the "I'm 17 years old" is part of her character, I wouldn't be surprised if her whole character is sort of a meta joke about Kikuko Inoue's career.

[up]If you look closely, you'll see Mirei focus her attacks on the arms and not the Liberators. Of course that raise the question about the Ecsta's safety.

The newest radio show has gone live and this is what they discussed

In this week radio they confirmed that the B Ds will have audio commentary by director Kaneko. And that the B Ds will be uncensored just like the AT-X version. They said that ep 3 will also have Mamori's VA audio commentary.

They start by looking back on ep 3 story. Izawa was touched by the scene where Mamori cried for her parents and she said she cried when she first read the scenario. They talked about the difficulty of properly conveying the emotion in that scene. Both Iguchi and Izawa really like that scene. They also joked about how bright the censorship was.

In mail corner someone asked them about which character they like. Iguchi said she like Seto Asami, aka, Charlotte. Izawa also like Charlotte by second episode, she said Charlotte is like someone they just can't hate. Izawa said she likes Charlotte mouth. She said her mouth is cute like hamster's mouth.

Actually before answering that question they said something about Lady Lady kissing Mirei in ep 3 and Mirei will show her frustrated face and looking more girly or something. I think they mistake the episode number because I sure didn't remember seeing Lady Lady kissing anyone. They could be talking about a scene in ep 4. Can't really blame them for misremembering though, theres 5 months gap between the episode recording and the radio.

Second mail asked them about the ending song recording. Iguchi record her part first. She said she recorded the part at the end where they talk really fast in one take. Izawa said she could go faster.

Third mail asked Izawa whether she have told her Mom and suggest to do it while being in high tension or while rapping. Izawa said she thought maybe she can get away without telling her Mom. Iguchi asked her if she's okay with it, with VD being her first protag role and all. Doesn't she want her Mom to watch how much Mamori have grown within 12 ep and hear her thought about it? Izawa just screams inaudibly as her response.

Oh yeah, that's something I've been wondering about. Charlotte is kind of a terrible person and the apparent main antagonist, but she's oddly likable. Not sure where the show is going with this, particularly with it's willingness to have scummy enemies

[up]I think... that kind of explains my mixed feelings about her. Like, I dislike the character, but Charlotte still has an oddly adorable appearance that contrasts so severely with her personality (which is starting to feel less "cruel and malicious" and more "bratty and petty").

I suppose I'll wait a few more episodes to see how I feel about her by then (especially since I feel like she'll get some sort of "this is why Charlotte is Charlotte" episode soon), but right now I don't care much for her as a character and she's the one I'm the least interested in.

Theory: Akira isn't a guy, but isn't a woman either. Akira is intersex

The summary for episode 4 is live on the series' site and while it reveals some very juicy stuff Lady Lady vs Zero Arm there's a bit that doesn't sit that well with me due the possible implications Mamori mets the Governor and can't stop thinking about him

If is being played straight (heh) it kind of undermines her moments with Mirei on the past episodes.

Watching episode 4

You know, I am going to make a wild guess and say that the borderline(?) tyrannic "order" they have on Mermaid is precisely the reason they will never leave the island. Because if I was told that only way to get out of an island is to create a working society, I wouldn't jump into tyranny.

Akira... Honestly, I don't know what his deal is. And I am not talking about his gender. I am not sure if he's being genuine or that good of an actor. Only thing I am sure that he sure knows how to turn every lesbian into bi.

The Starscream is strong with Charlotte.

Mirei's reaction for Mamori's admiration to Akira is rather funny. As for Mamori herself... eh. I think she's at stage where her relation with Mirei is If It's You, It's OK. Nice that Mirei is atleast glad that Mamori now isn't crying.

And she became delusional.

Suddenly, hetero. And nope. Just illusion masturbation

And then some weird illusion golem hetero

So I am guessing she has some sort of self-harming technique to snap her out of mental attacks or something

Christ: ill little sister-figure plot or something like that.

Alright, so If Akira is a liberator, and liberators come about due to that virus, and Men are supposedly immune to that virus, that means Akira is definitely a girl, right?

Tzitzimine Since: Nov, 2011

[up]Indeed. Akira was effectively confirmed female this episode. Considering how "chummy" Torino is with Akira, I'm starting to think the whole welter/Hexe division is just a massive gamble on their part to keep the peace on the island. If true, this potentially turns Lady Lady into pseudo-villians (of the nice job breaking hero variety)

[up][up] I understand the logic behind Mamori's crush but that doesn't makes it less sad since it makes painfully obvious Mirei's affections are one sided. The fact she's crushing os hard on Akira also rubs me the wrong way since I hate that kind of naive attitude.

The illusion scene if nothing else makes a pretty definitve case for Mirei being a full blown lesbian and it makes sense in the context of the narrative and her background. The downside is that paints a ver grim outlook on Momoka's background.

[up][up] Dude, have you ever watched Infinite Stratos? Okay, neither have I, I just picked it due of being a recent case (I would have said Otomedius if I wanted to be really obscure), but Gender-Restricted Ability has never stopped itself for those rare opposite gender cases.

Now I am not saying that Akira being a girl isn't a possibility. Quite the opposite. Just understand one thing doesn't mean one conclusion.

Yeah, I'm going to be surprised if Akira turns out to be actually male. What's less clear is their true stance; some of it is obviously acting (no one is that princely), but I'm not sure how much

Mamori is being hard to like here. And she was doing so well last episode

Akira could have a twin sister he absorbed in the womb. Recently there was a guy whose wife gave birth to his brother's baby. Said brother had been absorbed by him in the womb, dude literally has two different sets of DNA in him.
