I might be interested in joining this, but reading through the thread and the signup I'm uncertain - are the transhumans and psykers on different sides? I was considering playing a guard for this facility - clad in heavy but slow Powered Armor, presumably cybernetically enhanced to wear and operate it and try to fight the psykers on equal terms.

Would that actually be allowed, however, or are the cyborgs test subjects just like the casters?

Are there any more specific restrictions on what abilites an Iron Mind could have?

Restrictions include no outlandish powers. This is for sake of medium more than anything. It would be too awkward to have a time stop power in game. Powers relating to Alteration of Appearance and form are limited to the caster.

Yes the Combat Cyborgs are the Casters allies in game. Also nice Warhammer Reference,

Ah, so no prison guard character? Darn. Guess that'd make it difficult to stick around for the longer RP, though, unless whatever threat we'll be facing is hostile to everyone. Hrm...

Is bulky powered armor still okay though? Mighty Glacier style tank, maybe carries a big gun or melee weapon? Could probably be outrun in a bracing jog?

Power armor is fine. If it connects to hou it is still classified as cyborg.

Double Posting to say this, the general setup is you are all in Biotech research Mega-Corp Synth Life.

It's a older Mega Corp of mine so I like to use it, along with Atlas Co.

You are all a batch of subjects in some of their research into unlocking human potential or the latest in combat cybernetics. This is merely the setup as to why you are there and how you got your powers, you could be at the facility for any number of reasons, prisoner, unlucky, volunteered.

This is only the starting point and part of the story will be spent dealing with a strange Pursuer who is oddly impervious to your attacks, until the endgame when you all have gone through enough character development. Think of it like fighting Dio without knowing the power of his stand, you're kinda helpless.

Combat will ensue and there will be people to stop you, but this mysterious Pursuer as of now is the biggest threat.

I'm interested in this RP, but I've got a few questions about it, mainly concerning the setting.

  • Why is Synth Life researching or working with combat cybernetics? Are they planning to sell them to the highest builder, are they planning to do war with other companies or even countries, etc. What's their MO, basically?

  • What kinds of world does this RP exist in? It is simply a 20 Minutes into the Future type of setting, mostly normal aside from the odd Megacorporation and some advanced tech? Or is it some sort of dystopia, or even a Post-Apocalyptic setting? Because based on what you've written up so far, I'm not sure what setting this RP's taking place in.

That'll do for now. What I'm mainly concerned about is why Synth Life does what they do, and just what kind of the world the RP resides in, if that's alright.

Synth-Life has made it is business to research practical applications into Transhumanism. Their title is short for Synthetic Life, and they have government contracts so all these combat augs get sold to the military to make mass produced Super Soldiers. The Iron Minds are the next step.

As for the setting, definitely 20 Minutes into the Future so actually expect a lot of people outside of the facility to be slaughtered by the villains. And why you are all at a research camp as test subjects.
