Ok that was an amazing season finale. Cloud ripping Tifa a new one was amazing and I love how Barret and Red XIII are both just surprised as hell from the rant.

I can't wait for Season 2.

I love that finale, mostly because it means we're getting some actual character development out of everyone.

Going to be the only one who was a little underwhelmed by that finale. Barrett and Red XIII stole the show, but I was a bigger fan of the last two episodes.

Curious where they'll go with Tifa from here. Not to the Golden Saucer apparently.

I think the episodes have been less funny ever since they entered Shinra Corp. None of the Shinra guys really make me laugh.

I enjoyed Cloud freaking out about Sephiroth. Rufus was also pretty fun.

but HOW?

That ending made me pretty uncomfortable, not gonna lie.

I feel bad for Tifa.

I've pretty consistently felt bad for Tifa, really.

but HOW?

First Yang, now Cloud?

Tifa's always got someone putting her down.

I admit, Cloud had a lot of good points.

In fact, Tifa is a terrible person. And seems to enjoy using Cloud for fun.

I mean, the fact that he brings up her dead dad is.

A bit of a bridge too far.

After her prison rape remark and threatening to shove her arm shoulder deep up his ass then laughing for ages about him crossdressing since he thought she needed rescuing, I don't think he went too far.

That's horrific, and indefensible, and awful, and he has every right to call her out for it. Even be a bit mean towards her.

Equally, that wasn't very personal either as threats and insults go.

He also says that it's why she is the way she is, which. Is almost excusing her in a sense? Like, people who have lost dads don't all end up like that? And she was seemingly like it before her dad died.

So Cloud is both wrong about it, and also apologizing for her a bit too much.

Bad things happening to you is never a reason to be a jackass. Bitter and disillusioned, sure, but not a jackass. Cloud was apologizing for her, he was just stating what he thinks to be the reason why she never grew up. Tifa now is exactly the same as kid Tifa because she never grew up due to her father dying.

I mean, again, she doesn't need a reason?

Giving her a reason is giving her too much credit?

People with dead dads don't normally end up like that.

Some people don't grow up because of trauma due to their emotional development stopping there, Tifa is probably one of them. But it'll be interesting to see where Taka and the other writers are going with this one.

The main thing for me is that when they make Tifa a character who threatens Prison Rape my reaction wasn't "What the hell Tifa?" but "What the hell writers?". So bringing it back up to throw in her face instead of distancing themselves from that kind of humor rubs me the wrong way. I liked it better when it seemed like they were making her more of a low-level jackass instead of a monstrous one and leaving the early stuff in the same bin as early dbza.

To be fair, everyone you know and love being slaughtered, your home town burned down, and you left a coma by a psycho wouldn't exactly leave you in the best mental state.

[up][up] I feel that reaction is completely unfair as you're viewing the characters as extensions of the writers rather than viewing the characters as actual people. It's one thing if you're calling the writer out for some plot device or for derailing a character or whatnot but calling the writers out for making a character you simply dislike is something else entirely.

I don't see why that's unfair. I'm fine with exaggerating a character into a jerk for the sake of giggles, but turning a character into a monster breaks the whole thing down for me. It's so far off from the original that it makes the character's artificiality very apparent. That's why I think "jesus christ why are you doing this" instead of "wow Tifa is just the worst person".

Basically, I feel that their Tifa and this scene would have still worked if she was a normal asshole to Cloud instead of being completely awful, and because they not only put in the waaaaay over the line stuff but brought it back for her callout scene it comes off like passing the buck.

There is still a buttload of plot to watch and they're very clearly trying to have Character Development, so I'm not as bothered by it because I know they're probably going to redeem her.

Question: Which episode does the Never Heard That One Before entry on the Final Fantasy VII Machinabridged article come from? And on the character page, some of the entries imply that Tifa is well-aware that guys lust after her large bust, when early on she seems pretty convinced that it's her legs that are what they do drool over, and I don't remember her saying anything otherwise in later episodes.

Two wrongs meet at an intersection. Is a right created? No. It is just more wrong.

Tifa has behaved terribly toward Cloud and he had every right to call her out on it. That does not, however, preclude Cloud from going too far in doing so.

That being said, while actually saying it may have been a bridge too far, what he said might be accurate. Tifa is childish. Recent episodes seem to imply that her constant putting down of Cloud equates to the behavior of an 8-year-old boy who doesn't know how to get the attention of the girl he likes so he pushes her in the hall and puts gum in her hair and stuff.

So I read a review about the first 10 episodes here that made a case of It Gets Better for this series. I dropped Final Fantasy VII: Machinabridged after episode 4 due to a complete lack of ability to find 99% of the jokes or characters funny. Is it worth getting back into the show?
