I kinda get Elite Mook from that too, but it's fine.

I do too... it's so overtly sinister I'd assume they're Mecha-Mooks.

But definitely worth a crowner, I'd say.

[up][up] On the other hand, what is The Ace - in-universe - but an individual Elite Mook? Both are just people who are better than the rank-and-file. More to the point, wouldn't an Elite Mook who - due to his status - gets unique, personalised equipment/armour count as this trope?

[up] There is a big difference from a new model Elite Mook vs an Ace Custom. And Ace Custom is the same old model but with enhance mods built specifically for the pilot.

For example the current image, vs a normal Zaku Char's Zaku is 3x faster more maneuverable and such but it looks like a normal Zaku painted red. In the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games translate this by giving Char's Zaku enhanced stats and more moves vs the basic Zaku.

Okay. Let me rephrase it. What's the difference between The Ace and an individual Elite Mook for the purpose of portraying the trope, in the context of them wearing a personalised piece of gear versus two rank-and-file mooks who wear standard issue gear?

[up][up] See, that's what I liked about the Bio Shock revolvers and the DeLoreans; with the various power armors and mecha others are suggesting, they still look like production models because they still have things like smooth lines and uniform color schemes. The revolvers and the car, though, are clearly sort of kit-bashed, with little regard for the aesthetics. That what I think should illustrate the trope. Nothing else suggested looks different from an Elite Mook.

Here's another thing that would be good: the 1955 Lincoln Futura, and the original Batmobile that was made from it.

[up] To make sure. Isn't that a comparison stretching to out-of-universe? Batmobile pictured could be just an elaborate prop with recognizable base, Cool Car but not the Ace Custom trope example. Are "non-custom" Futuras present in Batman? Could you expect some Gotham citizens turn their heads thinking precisely or something very close to "What the heck did he do to his Lincoln?"

I do. It's a concept car that was never mass-produced. There's no way there's more than one in Gotham.

Anyway, none of that information is in the picture, and I don't see how it could be put in the caption. Also, this isn't one thing by itself that's been customized, it is one thing out of a group that's been customized.

Code Geass seems to have examples from each batch of Knightmare Frames, like the 4th Gen Buria + Zero custom or the 7th Gen Akatsuki.

Not sure how to get around the Elite Mooks thing with Mecha, do any mooks in Bioshock use the OP gun? Maybe a comparison with them wielding unmodified pistols in the same frame would work.

[up] That first one is good. It gives the impression that it's a stock model that the pilot modded with a funky helmet.

Still looks like an Elite mook to me.

It certainly could be, but I think the key thing here is that the biggest difference is that it looks like an aesthetic upgrade to personalize equipment. It's clearly not a next-gen machine, it's the same mecha, just with a helmet that doesn't seem to actually serve any purpose.

Agreed. It's my favorite, thus far.

Speaking of personalized mechs...

[up][up][up][up]Except for this trope is about those mechs with enhanced preformance not Bling of War.

An Elite Mook mech can fit in this trope if played right.

They are not the same thing, but an Elite Mook is often designated by piloting an Ace Custom vehicle.
