A Persona is basically a person's shadow (the personality traits they dislike about themselves manifested as an Enemy Without) turned into a Guardian Entity (which puts a more positive spin on them), typically based on a figure from some mythology or other.
Even if you don't know the series that well, you can just pick a mythological figure (or highly influential historical figure) they remind you of and call it a day.
