RE: Astro Boy => Mega Man:
Especially when you consider that Mega Man 1 was supposed to be an Astro Boy game until Capcom lost the AB license or something like that.
But serious question time: is it really, truly our fault that there's so much radio silence regarding this show? And you guys did see where I was going with my last post, right?

Um, I can't really remember where I read it. I just remember reading it somewhere...
EDIT: Scratch that! I found it! This is straight from Mega Man.

The opening of Megaman 4 is more of a closer looking thing...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.http://arcadesushi.com/obscure-megaman-facts/
Found it. But if you look in the comments, a lot of people are discounting many of those facts, so it's probably not true. It was heavily inspired by Astro Boy, I saw the creator mention that in other articles on the net. But it was always gonna be its own original thing, not connected to Astro Boy.
Does TV Tropes have a source for that?
Edit: Apparently the info about Mega Man originally being an Astro Boy video game came possibly from some article in Edge, which is a magazine apparently. At least that's what someone said in a comment section on in a Kotaku.com article. So it's definitely a possibility, but what a way to dig for it.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust it if it's just an unsourced statement on this wiki. People tend to put in their own conjecture as facts more often than they do even on Wikipedia.
(Side note, anyone been around here long enough to remember when people on this site thought we had a rivalry with Wikipedia? Those were weird times.)
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.people on this site thought we had a rivalry with Wikipedia
...When did that happen?
I imagine it must have been when this site was still relatively new because I've been around since May 2013 and this is the first time I heard of an alleged rivalry with Wikipedia.
I never went on the forums, but I first discovered this site sometime around 2008 I believe. I remember the front page talked about the site and a good portion of it was about how it was better than Wikipedia because there was more freedom to write what you wanted. I believe the exact words were "a butt load more informal", and "encourages breezy language".
"You know what would be great for Mickey Mouse? If we did a new series where he's actually a hard-boiled, hard-drinking private detective and none of his former supporting characters appeared!"
Other than the hard-drinking part, I think this is exactly what a few Italian Mickey Mouse comics have been doing for years now.
And then we have PK, which is basically a line of relatively hard sci-fi superhero serialized epic with Donald Duck and a heavily manga inspired all new cast, with Donald's original cast pretty much shifted out altogether. And it still sells like gangbusters with a lot of critical acclaim.

Remember the time Mickey Mouse is made into a mischievous mouse instead of the Everyman and fight an eldritch abomination blob that took over an American McGee version of Disneyland? I'm still amaze that game was a success for doing a darker and edgier take on Mickey Mouse.

We even had a page stressing that we were not wikipedia, which did not help
New theme music also a boxTo be fair, the concept proved to lose its legs rather fast, though.
Yeah, it was fun for only the first game.
From what I heard it was more just that the second game wasn't really too well made.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. The first game was little questionable in quality too, but people were willing forgive them and generally had a good time with it.
The second game had a much more questionable premise and was rushed to launch for reasons I don't quite remember. The franchise quickly died and Oswald, ironically(?) enough, disappeared back into obscurity save for some merch and the occasional Disneyland appearance.
So that aside has there been any thing announced since the one picture of Megaman?
Good question. Let me check.
[One Google Search Later]
Besides Megaman X2 coming to Virtual Console and Fox potentially doing a movie (which like this show made me a bit iffy whether or not it will be good), no new info.
How is X2 compared to X1? I've played X1 but haven't beaten it, mostly because I just kinda suck at Mega Man games.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Hrm... I'm going to dig out my copy of Mega Man Complete Works when I get home. It's an extensive and complete history of the classic Mega Man and his games up through just prior to Mega Man 9, and I don't remember precisely if the game was meant to be an Astro Boy game or was just inspired by it (after all, they're quite up front about Rush being inspired by Friender), but if anything would have that information, it'd be that book.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.X2 has an air dash, some optional bosses, and well, pretty much a more polished X1. Its just as enjoyable if not better. I'd go back to x2 before x1.
Damn it, He looks like future Ben 10!
"We be we baby!"Well, it looks like the Robot Masters will still be playing some part in the show. I saw what appeared to be Fire Man and Drill Man(?) in it.
(Also, this is unrelated but that super-deformed take on Heathcliff shown in that reel just looks....wrong.)
"Hey, gimme a minute to get to know everyone, 'kay, Brainy?" "Of course, but please allow me to get a word in, too, bzz."Wait, is that Heathcliff?
I'm, I'm not sure how do I feel about that.
It looks like it's....fulfilling the little expectation I have. Which isn't saying much, but still. I think worth giving a chance.
Man of Action probably has a good track record selling toys to kids.
Look, I can't say if this will be good. I can say Mega Man's story when looked at is pretty much Astro Boy if Dr. Tenma wasn't such a complete dickhead.
