Most horror films feature a virtually unstoppable monster (human or supernatural) killing powerless, usually kind of stupid, protagonists. If it is a supernatural horror film, the protagonist may at best have an old story handed down through the ages that may or may not be useful.

But what are some horror movies that avert this? Movies where the serial killer/monster thinks he has picked an easy target only to be sadly mistaken. They may sort of be action or comedy type films, but still set firmly in the realm of horror or at least borderline. A few I can think of include:

Shocker, Freddy Vs Jason, Jason X, Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell, Film/Troll2, Masters Of Horror: Incident On and Off Mountain Road, Hatchet more specifically the last two., Army Of Darkness, ''I Saw the Devil.

Does anybody else know any other type of films along these lines?
