Opened.
I've always wondered about this one. Does the narrowed image convey some meaning? I can't tell.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat's not the only editing done to the picture. Look at his nose or chin, for example.
I'm not sure that having a news media example as the picture is a good idea.
Isn't that a type of editing as well, albeit perhaps not a very common one?
Check out my fanfiction!IMO, photoshopping has nothing to do with this trope.
The classic manipulative cropping◊. Assuming of course, that someone trims out the text around it
That's good.
Check out my fanfiction!I like that suggestion when it lacks the text.

And if you pull back the camera, you'd see the three of them on a stage.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Honestly without the text took me forever to see what was going on. The color filters don't help.
Yeah, I don't get it.
My favorite example is from Homer Badman. Any idea how this could be crammed into one or two shots with a poignant caption?

There's a version without colour filters (Fine. With different colour filters)
I say go with 7, with the text included. As it's a poster, I don't it falls under an Image Macro.

There was this image◊ posted to Reddit in response to the picture in 10, which is simpler but also conveys the trope.
That's clearer.
Check out my fanfiction!Yeah. 17 is better
I much prefer 17. It's less literally true, but clearer.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Found a somewhat less artifacted version.

Check out my fanfiction!Heh, that works.
"We have a word for this, deceit, and they have a word for it,selective broadcasting".
New theme music also a box
Current —————————>
The trope is about how cutting footage together can alter the audience perception. However, nowhere does it talk about manipulating images to serve that end. The image might lead to misuse.
