Bay himself doesn't seem like he wants to direct any more Transformers films. I don't blame him, considering how many he's made and the damage the series has done to his reputation.

Even without Bay, Akiva Goldsman almost guarantees it'll suck.

As for Beast Wars, being set in the prehistory means they couldn't keep a focus on contemporary young humans and the army or do any current pop culture jokes, so I doubt they'll ever want to adapt it. Thankfully. Beast Wars is Best Transformers by far.

Looking over his imdb, Goldsman's only major stinker is Batman & Robin, and THAT was a result of a micromanaged studio film more than the artistic talent of those involved. He otherwise has a modest list of well-regarded films.

As for Bay, the Transformer series turned him into a name director on the same level as Spielberg and Cameron. Beforehand he was known as the guy who did The Rock, Armageddon or Pearl Harbor, known by his movies rather than his name. He's an expert on making big budget films and that's why he kept coming back, but it's unusual for a director of his statue to go and make something like Pain & Gain.

I wonder if anyone who hated 3 and 4 will watch it again?

Because that's what I found weird about 4th movie. At least up to 3rd one, I can understand. But after that? Anyone should KNOW the movie will be terrible in all of Michael Bay terribleness, so if they watched and found it to be horrible...I'd say it's their fault by that point.

Goldsman also wrote the awful Lost in Space movie and Batman Forever, which isn't much better than Batman & Robin. He seems to be better at smaller movies, but put him on a sci-fi/action/fantasy blockbuster and he's crap.

Goldsman... that name is familiar... oh yeah, he's the guy who directed an adaptation of Winter's Tale (not the Shakespeare book). I was probably one of the few who kinda liked that movie, in spite of all its flaws.

Maybe we can finally get Spielberg to do TF 5. But his schedule might be to stuffed for him to be director...

Here's a random idea, what if they got Hideo Kojima as director?

In fact, do any of you guys have any ideas for someone to take over as director?

the damage the series has done to his reputation.

Where'd you get the idea that the TF movies hurt Bay's reputation?

More importantly, does anyone honestly he cares?

As for someone who could take over this thread...

...actually, how about James Wan?

Yes, it's the same guy who directed horror movies like Saw and Insidious...but also directed this year's second biggest hit and the fifth biggest hit movie of all time, Furious 7.

Not only he was good at making awesome chase scenes, the movie also had some incredible sci-fi action scenes (because let's be honest, by the end of Furious 6, the genre launched itself to a sci-fi series) like the city warfare with military drones and Skynet-like all seeing device.

[up][up] The series has given abaya reputation ever since ROTF that he is a talentless hack who over utilizes needless adult humor, America Saves the Day, and could care less about the fans and such.

Rule of thumb when it comes to blaming screenwriters, it's rare that a great movie comes from a horrible script but horrible movies from great scripts happen all the time. Batman Forever, as a screenplay, is far better than Batman and Robin could ever hope to be. Goldsman also wrote I Robot and I Am Legend, both reasonably well received.

I Robot is a so-so movie that is still greatly inferior to the original.

They should have James Roberts or John Barber write the script or something.

About thread necros, I'd like to point out the reason we have pages and the reason we don't have a thread recall feature is so that topics will eventually die(see, it used to be that every thread was on one page. Back then making "duplicate" threads was a problem but it's not anymore). Why was their a need specifically to pull this back rather than start a new topic.

It's something I feel hasn't been addressed enough on this forum and, well, I figured I'd start here since I'm only two days removed.

I actually forgot that this thread exists...And I made it.

So anyways, rumors are that either the Quintessions or Unicron will get the designated villain role. Ultra Magnus will replace Optimus while he's on vacation. And who knows what Galvatron is up to. But wait, we have Cyclonus! I feel like the series is getting worse though (The elevator alarm scene in the fourth movie kind of ruins it). Now how many of you are excited about the mistakes they'll make?

Related to the Movieverse.

Somewhere out there, 90-99% of people who've got gripes with the TF designs are screaming "GODDAMMIT! WHY AREN'T THEY LIKE THIS IN THE ACTUAL MOVIES?"

I didn't even go far in the comments following those pictures and that's the general consensus. Honestly, I think the tank tread-cape that Megatron's wearing looks stupid. And the whole design for him in that kind of looks like an evil hunchback.

The article is a little vague on what the concept art was done for, Josh Nizzi didn't join the concept art crew until ROTF. Both images look like they influenced the designs for Age of Extinction, a more humanoid Megatron/Galvatron and Prime's feet looking more like boots. Megatron's tank tread cape sounds kind of cool but looks awkward in practice, it doesn't give him a cool silhouette but is just some things hanging off his back.

When it comes to the movie designs what I like about them is that they look like they have a core body that uses the parts associated with their vehicle mode as armor plating. The Optimus design of the first three is fantastic, using classic Optimus design elements like the chest windows, pipes on the shoulders, grill for abs and wheels on his legs while still being its own unique design. Age of Extinction's design was a step down mostly because you can't really tell what forms anything in his vehicle mode. No headlights, windows or wheels are visible. That concept art is cool enough but it has the same problem, with the exception of the chest nothing else looks like it belongs to part of his vehicle form.

Hideo Kojima's Tranformers: Version 5.0.

OPTIMUS PRIME: War... War changes... War lead to the destruction of our home planet Cybertron. It brought us here on Earth, where we Autobots continued our war against the Decepticons. We protected the humans against the Decepticons, and as a thanks, we were being hunted by them, all because of what we are, what we are made of. Now I'm about to declare war. A war against my own Creators.

  • An hour later *

???: Optimus...

OPTIMUS: Who's there? How do you know my name?

???: I know everything about you. I can read your mind. Yes, I can see that 85% of you has gotten snacks from the consession stand.

OPTIMUS: !!!

  • 15 minutes later *

RATCHET: (Through the codec) Optimus! Listen to me! You need to use the other side of your brain to defeat him!

OPTIMUS: Ratchet?! I thought you were dead!

RATCHET: They revived me, Optimus, just trust me!

  • 2 hours later *

BUMBLEBEE: That's not *static* really *static* him!

  • Bee's voice box still hasn't been fixed *

OPTIMUS: What, you mean Ratchet?

STARSCREAM: Yes, Optimus, it was me all along!

  • Another hour later, because fuck it, it's Hideo Kojima *

UNICRON: For a long time I've been traveling the galaxy, planting my seeds, making sure nothing would stand in my way. I was there when the first dinosaur was born, when the last breathed his last breath, when the first humans arose, I've seen war on Earth, I've seen Megatron arriving. I've seen him being born. I've seen you be born. Everything you thought you knew about yourself, about everything, it's a lie. You were searching for Primus, but here you are, standing before me. You might be wondering why that is. It's because I **am** Primus.

  • 30 minutes later, after Unicron is defeated *

GALVATRON: Optimus. I've been expecting you.

OPTIMUS: It's time we end this now.

GALVATRON: Agreed.

  • Credits roll, then a post-credit codec call *

While the idea of Transformers fighting Metal Gear would be awesome, it would just mean an even more confusing plot in a Transformers movie, ten times the CGI, and even more useless human characters.
