Suggestion: Badass Adorable

I could've sworn that there was an Image Pickin' thread for this page already, but it looks like it died without picking something. But that's okay! I think I have a good suggestion from Hyrule Warriors:

That thread decided on the pic that's now on BadassAdorable.Western Animation. The suggestion is alright, but the Video Games page already has a good pic of Kirby and I dunno that it's better.

Seeing how this is all subpages do we have to double up images?

Ah, that's my mistake then. We're just gonna leave the main page imageless?

The main pages stays imageless unless there's something that doesn't belong on any of the subpages like how Pimped-Out Dress has what looks like a painting.

I still remain wholeheartedly opposed to having images on subpages while leaving the main page blank. Isn't the whole point of an image to supplement the description to help the reader understand the meaning of the trope? And isn't this better done on the main page so that when someone clicks on it, they can understand the trope far faster than by reading or clicking another link? Though having images on supgages lets us represent more works, that shouldn't take precedent over having a page image whose sole purpose is to illustrate the trope.

Then you would show favortism to a certain category and drive by tropers who view X image in category Y is better and swap it. And a host of other problems.

Example: Say we tossed up this and now there are 2 anime images for the page, that would get the anti-anime image people up in arms and want something else and yada.

The main page should have an image only if there are examples still on it and the image is from one of those said examples.

But I would totally support Child Link◊ though, it don't get any more adorable than that.

As for that images on main page/subpage issue, I recall the debate about Oh, Crap! was pretty bad. And that's outside people (mistakenly) shouting JAFAAC.

I was actually going to suggest that as a better image than the one I originally suggested.

I can't link to the picture because it's currently in an adult-only area, but there's a fantastic little sketch just been done of an adorably cute bunny-boy with wide-open innocently questioning eyes and a cute smile on his face... his body and clothes splattered with blood and holding a knife partly behind his back which is dripping blood onto the floor.

I can try to get permission to use it, or place it where it can be evaluated, if there's any interest.

Of course, it would be equally good for Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon.

I disagree wholeheartedly with the argument in 11. Whenever we pick an image, we pick the one we feel is best. If it happens to be from Video Games or Anime, who cares, as long as it's a good pic. "Favoritism" is a silly argument to make, like there's some rule somewhere that we have to have pics from an equal number of genres or something.

I have to agree. The real issue is whether or not the picture illustrates the trope. What or who the picture is of, is secondary at best.

With that in mind, I propose Kirby for the main page, then another pic for the Video Games subpage. Kirby's the best overall pic so far, and leaving the main page blank just does not sit well with me at all. I really don't know where this trend of leaving main pages blank if it has subpages came from, but I think it hurts understanding.

I could be getting my history wrong here, but I believe Fast Eddie wanted main pages to remain medium-neutral to prevent arguments.

It came from the admin ([1]) and was reiterated by a mod ([2]). I disagree also.

The goal is not leaving them blank, necessarily, though. It is to seem "medium-agnostic" to readers; several Main pages with subpages have a collage, or a RL image, or something.

Kirby is fine for the main page. For the record, it's completely backwards to have images on sub pages but a blank main page.
