I don't know what this adds. There are 17 work titles of a videogame franchise, most of them with successive Roman numerals that imply Numbered Sequels. Beyond the caption there's nothing to indicate that it's a thematic series which is only tied together by its general themes. I'm not sure if this trope is really picturable.

Yeah, that's not a very good pic for this one...and it's too small and artifacted to boot. +1 to pull.

Ugly image, there. Yank.

Perhaps a collab of different Fire Emblem game covers with clearly separate protagonists? Only using English-released games, since games with the titles in Japanese might confuse people.

Rekka no Ken/"Fire Emblem"/"Fire Emblem 7"

Sacred Stones

Path of Radiance

Radiant Dawn (kind of cheating, since while they don't share any characters on their covers, it's a sequel to Path of Radiance)

Awakening

Wouldn't that be more like a Non-Linear Sequel?

Seeing how it doesn't follow the same characters and settings, no.

Same world different time period is Non-Linear Sequel.

This trope is sequel in name only, everything under the sun is different, different world etc. they only have a few commonalities like Mascot Mook and such.

For example Spira is completely different than Pulse and Ivalice.

The only idea I have is to throw up pictures of say FFX FFXII and FFXIII areas and how different they are or even various FF world maps, ooh FFII is very unique being one landmass that loops around the world, stark difference from the continental based world maps of the other games.

Like I said, they aren't the same setting, ie the same world. They're all completely different, barring similar gameplay elements.

[up]I don't know... the settings look similar enough.

None of them share any characters.

All featuring different characters and stories, despite the reoccurring blue hair.

[up] Isn't it implied that Jugdral Tellius (Path of Radiance) is in the same world as Akaneia/Ylisse and Rigel/Zofia/Valm (Shadow Dragon (the one with Marth), Gaiden and Awakening), by virtue of Priam (Ike's descendant) existing?

Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn's world is Tellius; Jugdral is Genealogy of the Holy War/Thracia 776.

While it's certainly implied, the Paralogues aren't really meant to be taken as canon, but more of a fun little side-story, same as the Xenologues. While one can definitely make the claim that it's all the same universe due to crossing over references, it's conjecture at best. The important thing is that each game presents its own setting, backstory, and characters, and at best Awakening claims its the same world as Shadow Dragon, which isn't pictured.

Really those covers are no different than the current image. IMO they are poorer due to being less of them compared to the 15 covers of the current.

Anyway I think we need to show something inside them and show how dramatically different the settings are.

The current image is barely discernible and only has titles. The suggestion is legible and clearly shows unique casts of characters in each title.

Comparing the two is laughable at best.

They are the covers of the games, just small.

The fire emblem show different people but that is standard for games set in the same world like each Persona game has like no common cast, very different art styles but it's in the same world some games are even just a year apart.

I don't think covers themselves are ever going to work, we are going to need set up shots or complete world maps to work. Let me see what I can find.

I think you're thinking about it too hard.

Though if I were to come up with another "series" with clearly unique worlds, the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy would be a good choice.

Eh. I could easily buy that most of those take place in the same world.

The best idea I think is the one about the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy. Specifically, use a screencap of each movie of the scene where the ice cream is feature and put up a caption with "Three entirely different films, united by icecream." or something of the sort.

[up] I just thought of that too. Unfortunately, if we used Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy, we'd get a duplicate image.

I think it's best left unpictured. The connection in a Thematic Series is typically so tangential that it's almost impossible to clearly visualize that connection without making it look like another cut-and-dried sequel. If someone has a good suggestion though, great.
