I think the second Chihiro suggestion does more with less, and the current is more illustrative of Idiot Hair anyway...kinda works better than that page's current, to me.
I like 1.3 also.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I question that it even counts as an example. Her response isn't so much "Hair reacting to the situation", but "her goosebumps are causing her hair to stand on end, thus validating a natural biological response to external stimuli."
That wouldn't explain her ponytail. It's totally an example.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. The best example that comes to mind for me is from Oh Edo Rocket. Tenten's huge bang will often form a question mark, an exclamation mark, or even form a in approval. I'll have to search through the series for a good pic.
Himeko's Idiot Hair from Pani Poni Dash also forms various expressions numerous times across the series.

Also it's clearly exaggerated. No human's hair does that too that extent and Chihiro is not part cat (I'm pretty sure )
Considering how common spiky hair is in animation I am leaning toward no.
a heart?◊, So expressive they spell [1]◊[2]◊[3]◊. just 20 more minutes◊ question marks◊well she is mad.◊
I think the expression makes kinda clear that the spikes aren't a part of the original hairstyle. Otherwise we can just throw in the first panel per 1.2.
I can't check up the suggestion because my stupid internet provider decides to block IM Gur for no good reason.
The problem is this trope is quite a bit more extreme than that. It is bordering on non-example.
Here is two of those images I posted.

Perhaps we can find an example with speech bubble to give context to the situation.
Those look more like Prehensile Hair
That is if it grabs people or is used as a weapon and such.

I don't like the OP suggestions. Not sure about the other ones. The current still works well enough, though.
Check out my fanfiction!1.3 is good. No need to get carried away. Wow, have I been gone a while.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I like 1.3 (1.2 is okay also, if it's absolutely necessary to say "not normally like this", though I don't think it is). @11: That is not true. Both minor and extreme are equally fine examples: "Sometimes it's nothing more than a pigtail that sticks out straight in defiance of gravity when the character's shocked or frightened, but it can go so far as fully prehensile braids that shape themselves into hearts, question marks, and other iconic forms."

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I like 1.3 the best, it's the simplest, most straightforward, and I love her expression. Clear, concise, witty.
How long do threads have to linger around until actions can be taken?
Until we get consensus on an option.
Do we have enough consensus for 1.3 or should we use a crowner?
Going to whole heartedly disagree with 1.3 it is very borderline on if it is even the trope or not (and I say no it isn't), very subtle, looks like standard Bad Hair Day and not very representative of the trope itself which is portrayed quite differently.
Even the current is light years better than it.

Thing is, there seem to be more people in favour of the SA suggestion than there are people against it (how strongly that sentiment is expressed does not matter). Anyway, I suppose a crowner won't hurt anyone.

Attached that crowner.

Suggestion from Spirited Away: IMO, it's more straight forward.
We could just go with the right image and maybe add some caption for context.
