Ok, i heard a song were someone said it that way but it was probably just to fit the meter of the song.
it's probably my Australian accent then.
Monsters as "munsters" (yes, I'm aware of the show, I just didn't think make the connection as a kid.) and "episodes" as "efisodes". That one got correted by my middle school friends' confusion as to what the hell I was talking about.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)Pronouncing facade as "FAY-kaid"
Pronouncing bagels as bag-els.
This is deliberate though. Because it's funny.
I thought noir was pronounced noyer (like foyer) for the longest time.
And foyer pronounced foi-yay?
Intentional mispronunciation common within the people I know. Kind of like calling the store Target "Tahr-zjay".
You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My TumblrExcept that's actually an accepted way of pronouncing foyer. As in, the dictionary lists two pronunciations for foyer and that's one of them.
I have to return some videotapes. My WallHuh, so it is. Dialectical differences strike again.
You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My TumblrToo many to count, but I'll list some examples:
- Genre as "Jen-urr"
- Continuity as Continue with an ity at the end
- Facade as "Fuh-sayd"
- Zangoose as "Zawn-gews" (I'm a shame to call myself a Zangoose.)
- Barrage as "Bear ridge".
- Pokemon as "Poh-kee-mawn", before I learned about the accent (FYI, the accent makes it "Poh-kay-mawn", if you were wondering.)
- Bombardment as "Bom-urd-ment"
- Masks as "Mask is", since I had a hard time saying the actual word.
- Comfortable as "Com fordable", since I also had a hard time saying the actual word.
I know when I was little for the longest time, I pronounced "original" as "OR-gan-ul" or however that'd be put down. Every so often though I get corrected about my pronunciation of a certain word and get angry because I never heard it being said out loud.
My art Tumblr![1] Really need to get back on that...I still cannot pronounce the word "anonymity" right. >_<
"Thanks for the lesson. But I don't need you to tell me who I am."Somehow, until recently, I never connected the pronunciation of epitome with how it's spelled. I thought it was pronounced how it's spelled (epi-tome) and the actual pronunciation was a completely different word.
Sphere pronounced like "spear". I occasionally revert when tipsy, apparently - I was talking about the lunar eclipse tonight making the moon look more like the "spear" it actually is, then corrected myself.
Another artist name one: I first heard of Sade in some music magazine article - I thought it was pronounced "Sayd" (as in rhyming with "shade") and even when I heard a song announced as being by "Shah-DAY" on the radio, I did not connect the two.
I thought debacle was Deb-UH-cul instead of DAY-bok-ul. I also thought for a long time that it meant a debate or controversy
I can't seem to find anyone else who pronounces "gyro" like "jiro"
Wait, that isn't how it's pronounced?
Well, the name Gyro i mean
Never mind, i thought you meant in "gyroscope" or something.
I thought "idle" was "ehd-ull" not just "idol" for a long time.
A fan of anime, music, and movies.Until just recently, I thought 'egregious' had a second 'r', right after the second 'g', which made it more of a mouthful than it really is
I've also learned that it's pronounced "ih-GREE-juss", not "eh-GREH-gi-yuss".
"Anemone dear, I know you want to be more independent from me, but... please take care, okay?"and : today i learned
eh, i like the flow of "uh-GREG-ree-us" more

I think fighting over word pronunciation is pointless and grating, so I prefer to mispronounce and refuse to acknowledge it. Yay, evasiveness!
Nostalgia is pronounced "nuh-STAHL-juh"- ipa \nə-ˈstal-jə\
