The pic/caption combo works for me, but I'm willing to entertain other options. Now, the links in the caption, those probably need work.
I don't think its bad enough to pull, he obviously looks evil and sci-fi-y, but I'm open to suggestions.
Well, he's a perfect Darth Vader Clone. That alone says quite a lot. I wouldn't pull, but it could be better.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I suggest this: 1◊. Galactic, as he's on space, and conqueror, because he's a huge purple satanic-looking guy sitting in a throne.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I like that.
A little dark, but it works.
Check out my fanfiction!I definitely agree that galactic context would help. Even the current would be improved greatly by it.
I like the dramatic effect in @5.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think the pic in 8 is great.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! The second is the best of those.
I like 8 as well. For me it's between 8.1, 8.2 and 13.2.
For what it's worth, the current is also on Characters.Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command.
Not right away, not right awayI'm down for 8.2
Galactus (seen in 8.1) isn't an example of this trope as far as I'm aware. He doesn't conquer planets, he devours them. There's no "Galactus Empire" or anything of the sort, he just roams around eating planets.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I thought so at first too, but the third sentence of the second paragraph of the description is "Maybe he just eats planets." So apparently, he is.
Several good suggestions here. I'm kind of undecided, so I'll probably just wait for a crowner if necessary.
Check out my fanfiction! That's a relatively minor concern, I think. As long as the image looks like the trope and illustrates it well, it should be fine. If I were given a choice between two otherwise equal images, one of an actual example and one that just looks like one, I would go with the "real" example, but such instances are rare.

I also found the comic book version of the Thanos◊ suggestion in 5, which has the advantage of being brighter/clearer, although not as visually impressive.
@19 looks like a solar system lord to me given the planets in the background, unlike in @5 where the "milky way" disk indicates the galaxy part of the trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI still think the Galactus pic is best, and according to the trope description he fits.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! Not sure how that difference is particularly relevant, since it's still in the range of "above the Evil Overlord, but below Dimension Lord".
Anyway, I made the crowner.
Crowner's hooked.
As much as I LOVE the Galactus image, I must point out that he is neither an example on the page, or an example of the trope at all.
Yes, the trope description does mention Planet Eaters, Galactus himself is the abstract universal concept of the necessity of balance, just as Oblivion is death and Eternity is life. He sustains himself on planets to survive, but he's just a natural part of the universe making sure nothing gets too powerful.
Unicron, on the other hand, devours planets because he hates the very concept of life. However, he's not an example either. He's just an Omnicidal Maniac. The only examples that should be considered for an image for this trope is anyone who wants to actually conquer and subjugate the universe. Darth Vader (or rather, the Emperor), Thanos (on a good day), etc etc.
Whether or not the image is an example is less of an important consideration than whether or not it's an illustrative representation.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
I do not understand what indicates that he is a conqueror.
