I have recently listened to some of this band's songs, and I think that they are good; I say this because they are catchy, well-written and fun. What are your thoughts about this band and why? Discuss away, my friends.

they had quite a few pretty good Pop-Rock kinda tunes, and a few VERY good Pop-Rock tunes. [tup] The production style kinda keeps it forever tied to its time for me, though... tongue

[up] Yeah, they're mostly known today for doing two songs for that film.

The only song of theirs that I've heard is Workin' for a Livin'. I looked up the original after Garth Brooks put out a tepid cover with Huey sharing the lead vocal.

Aside from their Back to the Future stuff and "I Want a New Drug" that they sued Ghostbusters over, they're a pretty dull bunch. There's nothing particularly memorable about them otherwise, and although I'll listen to them from time to time, I'd prefer Journey as my 80's Arena Rock band of choice.

'Hip to Be Square' was used in The Naked Gun III: The Final Insult. It was awesome and one of the funniest parts of the film!

Oddly enough, there was a brief period where they went by the name Clover and they didn't have Huey Lewis as their frontman. This is of interest because, in that incarnation, they were Elvis Costello's backing band for his debut album, My Aim Is True.

I didn't write any of that.

Huey also played Reba McEntire's husband in one of her videos...can't remember the song, might be "Is There Life Out There".

[up]#6: I've explained before why I think that "Don't Stop Believin'" is a terribly lazy song unworthy of its memetic nature. I get no enjoyment out of that song at all.

[up]That's the one.
