The trope is about a character wearing an period-specific outfit well beyond that period. However, the image shows a character from Miami Vice wearing an 1980s outift, even though Miami Vice was made and set it in the 80s, so the outfit wasn't actually outdated in that series.

Here's a suggestion for an replacement image – Spirou using a pad while still wearing his trademark 1930s bellboy suit: http://www.inedispirou.com/forum/gallery/image.php?album_id=14&image_id=1874

I don't think that's Don Johnson...could be wrong, but he looks Hispanic. The suggestion is alright, but having him with people in more modern clothes might get the point across better.

Even if it's not Don Johnson, there's nothing in the image that would hint it isn't set in the 80s, so we can't tell whether the outfit is actually outdated or not.

I'll try to find some other pics of Spirou later today.

Yeah, a different version is needed. As it is the suggestion doesn't illustrate more than the current.

How about the last panel from this page? There are other characters with modern clothes, and it's even more obvious the scene takes place in the personal computer era:

Here's a smaller, less crowded image with the same idea. Spirou is not wearing the bellboy hat in this one, though:

Austin Powers would be a great example if I could find any shots of him in a group scene. Hold on.

[up]No luck on my end. I did however find this comparison of Bond and Powers.

We could make our own without a watermark, and caption it "One of these two dates faster than the other."

That's pretty much a JAFAAC. In order to get it you have to be familiar with the Austin Powers movies, and you have to know Austin Powers is a guy dressed in 60s clothes who lives in the 90s... But the image itself doesn't convey that dissonance in any way. We need to have a pic where someone is wearing an old-fashioned outfit among people with more modern clothes, that's why I suggested the Spirou examples.

[up]How about something like this. The woman's outfit is definitely more modern-looking than what he's wearing

I think it's too tacky to make for a good illustration.

Also, the woman's outfit looks like it could be from the late 60s or early 70s, so I don't think there's a big discrepancy with what the guy is wearing.

How about we use a time traveler? Guy Pierce in The Time Machine wearing 19th century clothes in the 22nd century of the time machine would make it blatantly obvious.

These certainly look outdated to me.

I think it's rather unclear. More of a fashion difference than clearly outdated.

But fashion is very a YMMV trait. All fashions are simply a matter of taste. Just as 40s fashion can simply be someone's sense of taste, so too can 60s, 70s and 80s regardless of era. In fact, isn't that the very essence of this trope? That the wearer's sense of fashion is at odds with that of others?

Fact of the matter is the Cap's fashion sense is certainly dated in contrast to current norms and - more importantly - his surroundings.

Oh come on guys, peasant is at least trying, and the concept is good. The only flaw I see, if you can call it that, is that it's subtle.

[up]Much better example. The dog walking one (3) is probably the best, as it most clearly shows the difference.

"At least trying" doesn't make the image better.

Those pics are good, but the problem is that they're not examples of this trope. Outdated Outfit is not about sartorial discrepancies cause by time travel. It's about characters wearing the same clothes while the fashions around them change, so what was once a normal outfit gradually becomes outdated. Note that the majority of examples is about characters in Long-Runners, who have an Iconic Outfit that's never been changed. That is a different trope than someone using old-fashioned clothes because they've traveled in time.
