Nice. I was impressed with Far Cry 3, first title in the series I gave a shot, and want to go back for the first two.
Is there an actual connection between A-C, Far Cry, and Watchdogs? I've played four of the former, and the latter isn't even out yet.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I wanna say they're in the same universe. Even if their stories never intersect.
Oh really when? All I want is a sequel to Blood Dragon.
Watch Dogs and Far Cry 2 and 3 can definitely exist in the same world. Their stories are largely self contained, don't contain anything from the Clancy-verse, and don't have any futuristic or supernatural elements. But the Assasins Creed series simply cannot due to how absurdly powerful Abstergo Corp is and the resulting worldwide chaos after the ending of 3.
Ass Creed and Watch_Dogs ain't connected buddy. They've already conformed this multiple times, so please stop saying this is the case.
Ehh, personally I'd rather have Watch_Dogs and Far Cry not be connected myself (I mean, they're not completely tonally incompatible but I still feel you're trying to shoe-horn in these connection, also I'm not too big on Far Cry.)
Arguably though, most of Ubisoft's games have a very noticeable Signature Style when it comes down to their mechanics. They often have copious amounts of Le Parkour, floating HU Ds that appear diegetically appear "in" the world Fringe style (this started with Splinter Cell Conviction, but then they did it in Ass Creed, Watch_Dogs, Ghost Recon and The Division,) and Mark & Execute (this one was also from Conviction, but then they put it in Ghost Recon, Ass Creed and Watch_Dogs.)
Arguably, I'd say that the first Ass Creed and Splinter Cell Conviction were probably the start of "Ubisoft house style," that they would later use in most of their later big titles.
I'd consider the Ubi-verse a thing, in that while all their are disconnected storywise, they all share a set of common gameplay mechanics and an emphasis of angular, Minority Report style graphic design.

This is Ubisoft's own page on the announcement.
Not to nit pick the OP, but it is coming out late 2014, not early 2015. Ubisoft wants some of that phat Christmas lewt, or something like that.
Hehe, Ass Creed

Oh really when?I hope this will be better than Far Cry 3. I was really looking forward to Far Cry 3, was really disappointing that the enemy respawn was just so broken.
Can't be as bad as it was in Far Cry 2. Cause there was no way to stop them from harassing you in that game, and EVERY SINGLE MOOK no matter their faction affiliation would constantly chase you down until dead. In Far Cry 3 you could neutralize the outposts and gain friendly territory, making it safe to drive through at a leisurely pace without being shot at, and at the end of the game you could choose to make them all respawn and do it again if you wish.
Worst part of Far Cry 2 is when their jeeps had the .50 cal.
You lose your car every 5 minutes because they went and crippled it. Then you gotta kill them and hope you didn't break their car in the process.
Oh really when?I'm pretty sure that we'll get Far Cry 4 and then a little later they'll make Blood Dragon 2 on its system for download again.
And yeah I remember the mooks in Far Cry 2. Even if they were deadly enemies with each other, the instant you show up its like "Truce! Kill the player character!"
Director of Ass Creed 3 is helming FC 4, three to five hour tutorial confirmed: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/05/16/assassins-creed-3s-director-now-on-far-cry-4
I kinda hope the guy in the pink suit or another character aren't an attempt at Vaas 2.0.
I'm thinking Hoyt, actually.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelNot sure what it is, but there's something about that picture that makes it very creepy to me.
It's the way the guy on the throne is smiling.
Anyone else think that the way folks are already maligning the art style due to that one single picture are acting like entitled idiots? Or is it just me?
The art style looks almost identical to Far Cry 3... if you can even consider that picture to "have" an art style. :/
But personally, the guy's giving me a sort of "sadistic playboy" vibe. Perhaps a bit like Vaas or the Joker in the sense that life's a cruel joke to him, and Hoyt in that he's clearly the "King" of the country - at least in his eyes.
My only concern is that it looks like a repeat of Far Cry 3 - asshole dictator guy vs. plucky rebels, and then the main character steps in to tip the balance.
Saw this on Tumblr and it made me laugh;
(Referring to the cover art)
Yes, that is an indigenous Tibetan on his knees, (live?) grenade in hand, suggesting subjugation.
Yes, someone at Ubisoft thought this cover design was a good idea.
No, we don’t have high hopes for Far Cry 4.
It's almost like he's supposed to be the bad guy or something.
Well hey, he can be bad, but he's at least got to be respectful.
this place needs me hereI wonder...could we have a Villian Protagonist? And I don't mean in the same way Jason could be turned into a villain, I mean we start by being the evil bastard.
We had that in GTAV. Cue the moral guardian fuckwits.
Hey, I'm looking through the Far Cry 4 tag on Tumblr and a lot of people are accusing the boxart not only of racism, but of homophobia.
Because the villainous dude looks kind of gay.
...
Can't they just see it as fair representation? I mean, aside from the Bond villain in Skyfall and possibly Him from PPG, not a lot of gay villains come to mind, assuming of course the dude is gay in the first place.
While information has been leaked here and there, Ubisoft has finally confirmed that the sequel to Far Cry 3 is coming early 2015. The game is coming to PC, Play Station 3, Play Station 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One (sorry Nintendo fans, no Wii U version). Here's the source... the pictured villain is giving me Vaas vibes. :P
BTW, it's becoming clear we're seeing a common universe shared by all the Assassin's Creed games, Watch_Dogs, and Far Cry series from 3 onwards. I think a nickname like the "Ubi-verse" would be a good name. What's your nickname idea for Ubisoft's cinematic universe?
EDIT: Thanks Tam H 70 for the correction. Yeah, IGN is now saying that the game is going to be released on release on November 18, 2014 in North America and November 20, 2014 in Europe.
