There were no Shakira forums? -dies-

Who here likes Shakira? If you do, do you like her Spanish versions of songs better than her English versions, or vice versa? What's your favorite song of hers?

For me, I like her Spanish versions, because they sound much more... Deep and meaningful. I tend to do that with foreign languages. My favorite songs of hers are "Lo Hecho Está Hecho" and "Nunca Me Acuerdo de Olvidarte".

"Oh baby when you talk like that, you make a woman go mad. So be wise and keep on reading the signs of my body."

Don't know much Shakira if you couldn't tell.

Can't say I've heard a single one of her songs. But she's got a duet with Bland Sellout, I mean, Blake Shelton, now…

She's really hot, has awesome moves, and is a pretty good singer...I can listen to her a lot longer than I can Christina Aguilera. That said, I don't really pay attention to her.

Yeah, I like Shakira. I haven't really heard much outside her singles. But there are a lot of songs by her I really like- "Hips Don't Lie," "Whenever, Wherever," "Tortura," "Addicted to You," "Ojos Asi."

I really hated that new song with Rhianna though.

Yeah, I didn't like the English version of "Can't Remember to Forget You". But I did love the Spanish version, "Nunca Me Acuerdo de Olvidarte". It doesn't have Rihanna.

I've listened to her singles on and off for years. I don't own any of her albums, but I do like some of her music, and her dance moves of course.

I don't listen to her songs in Spanish which I don't understand. People think I'm close-minded that I don't do so. I don't listen to songs in languages I don't know because I subconsciously interpret a song's lyrics according to the music. I don't want to interpret the lyrics wrongly due to Mood Dissonance/Soundtrack Dissonance. I may accidentally interpret a lyric to a sweet/calming song as about love/relaxation when the song is actually about sadness/death. I once thought Radiohead's "No Surprises" is a love song due to not focusing on the lyrics and I found out about my mistake when reading the lyrics. This is why I don't listen to Sigur Ros. I don't understand their Icelandic songs.

Anyway, I think Shakira is decent. Maybe her songs could use a little more effort. The songs I like by her are "Underneath Your Clothes", "Hips Don't Lie", "Gypsy" and "She Wolf". Her song "Can't Remember to Forget You" is fine for me. Could have been better if the chorus is tweaked a little, like removing the "oh oh ohh" parts.

I find "Can't Remember to Forget You" a formidable pop hit. The Shakira-Rihanna dynamitic works out well. "Empire" isn't that bad either.

"Dare (La La La)" has a more mixed reaction for me. On one hand, I like that sultry pre-chorus. On the other hand, a different version is being used as the official World Cup 2014 song, and it doesn't hold a candle to "Waka Waka".

Her old songs were much better — not the radio pop stuff feat. Pitbull, but her more "authentic" stuff. "Ojos así", "Se quiere se mata", stuff like that.

I'm drawing her. It's my first portrait, so hush.
