"My Alias is Black Widow" - Coming This Fall to ABC!

I was thinking that a Black Widow film would work well as a series of films or a TV series - each installment would be a stand-alone, self-contained origin story - and every one would be mutually contradictory. Frame them as conversations with fellow agents, debriefings, whathaveyou.

A series long "Rashomon"-Style? I can't see how that would work.

Not really. Like how the Joker told everyone a different story of how he got his scars in The Dark Knight.

Still can't see that lasting a whole season. Maybe an episode, like that Batman: The Animated Series episode or that segment of Gotham Knight.

Where was Hawkeye during the entire movie? Romanov was in it. All of SHIELD was in it. Where was Hawkeye, Romanov's boyfriend and a SHIELD agent? Especially since they go to Falcon's house saying everybody else is out to get them. What about Hawkeye? I highly doubt he sided with Hydra.

He's not her boyfriend and he wasn't in the movie because Jeremy Renner had prior filming commitments. He was supposed to have a scene where he was tasked with catching Captain America but then allowed Steve to knock him out.

Out on mission/still not cleared for field work/take your pick. It's too bad, but can't be changed.

Wasn't the Avengers pretty clear about him not being Natasha's boyfriend? It was one of the best part of the movies, that he was the one who "rescued" her, with out the romantic BS usually thrown into such stories. I love the fact that they are just really close allies/friends.

And since we are on topic: The interaction between her and the Cap in The Winter Soldier was similar refreshing. Just two people who like each other, but are fundamentally too different in their outlook on the word to be totally on the same page, and who are simply not attracted to each other.

I remember reading that the best way to explain Hawkeye's absence would be in Age of Ultron the Avengers are talking about what they've been doing and when it comes to Hawkeye's turn he just does a Thousand-Yard Stare and says "Relaxing" (cue Gilligan Cut to Hawkeye fending off dozens of HYDRA-loyal SHIELD agents).

Eh, I thought they were lovers but that I guess that might've been my cliche brain assuming the attractive male that has history with the attractive female had romantic entanglements.

Hawkeye is now unemployed. I wonder how he found out that shield was dissolved.

I want that with all of my want.

Also, I want it to reference where he was in other movies if there's space in this hypothetical.

I'm personally a big fan of the idea that Hawkeye's "explanation" is a montage of him running away from various [insert threats here].

Like, this shit practically writes itself.

We should email Joss this idea.

Better not...he might already have it and ending up not using it to prevent a possible lawsuit because someone felt that he used his ideas. Creators have to be careful with this kind of stuff (sadly).

I've joked before that Hawkeye and Widow should have this conversation.
