"Can't be illustrated by a solitary image, needs a collage" sounds like giving up to me.
Could be better, but could be worse:

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Alice, from the touhou fighting games. Someone suggested Kankuro a page back, so I tried to find something for that too.

I like those. I think the strings make a nice visual shorthand.
Buuuuut I am someone who's familiar with both works, so I'll wait for further opinions.

I have a message from another time...28.1 is more clear. The second one would be good, but it's harder to tell at first, and they aren't fighting. I vote for 28.1.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I prefer 28.2, since 28.1 does not indicate the "controlled by one person" aspect - mere similarity suggests a lot of things but not the one we are looking for here.
I do not like any of the images on the first page, really.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman28.2 is more Marionette Master than this trope. 28.1 gets a pending something else.
The two tropes overlap pretty heavily in fighting games. I'd vote 28.2 as a good replacement for the current image on that page though, but I like 28.1 for this one.
I tend to agree with making a change to Marionette Master for 28.2.

I think 28.2 is better than the current image of Marionette Master
<deleted>
Didn't realise this trope was video game specific.

I think we must be careful of doing the trope literally - it's about controlling two characters at once, not just controlling puppets.
The trope might be more easily confused for being specific to player Marionette Master characters who turns out to have an army of puppets that she can control to help her in her game.
Anyway, I think a screenshot of a character select screen, but with the Puppet Fighter "character" highlighted in some way, would be a good idea, like the Ice Climbers from Super Smash Brothers Melee?
[1]◊
(We may need to circle the Ice Climbers' portrait to show that they're there, or at least someone could take a screenshot of them choosing the Ice Climbers.)

That looks like just a character selection scene. Where is the "puppet"?
I said we highlight the Ice Climbers in some way, like circling them or someone here taking a screen shot of a character select screen but with them selected as the character instead of Mario.
Okay, originally found it difficult to find a screenshot without the Ice Climbers selected, but now, I've discovered one.◊
I don't think that works well at all. It's not as good as, say, a shot of them in the battle itself, and I'd find it hard to back even that.
I have a message from another time...Bumping due to inactivity.
I think 28.1 would be good, but I still think there could be better examples. I was trying to find some good examples from the 90s Jojo's game, but the best I could find are this◊ and this◊, and those would probably not be clear enough.

I like the idea of using Alice from Touhou, but I'm not in favor of the suggested screenshot. I feel like something like this or this would be a bit better, seeing that it's more immediately clear where the puppets are coming from and what they're being used for.

Oh I like the first pic there. You can see the strings attached to the dolls.
I suggest that if we find a good picture that does not involve puppets, then we don't use those Alice pictures due to fear that they're too literal for fear people may confuse this trope with fighters who just happen to also be Marionette Masters.
(Not to say that they're not an example of this trope, but the fact that the name of this trope includes the word "puppet" in means that the picture may increase the chance of people getting confused into thinking that puppets are the only thing involved in this trope, and that characters that don't involve puppet, but are still this trope (like Rosalina and Luma in Super Smath Brothers 4 as well as the Ice Climbers).)

That first one's pretty cool but I dunno if it'll look good at wiki size.
I don't really think Olimar would count as an example anyway. It shows him weaponizing plant people, it doesn't show the "remote control" aspect of the trope.
Images for Ken and Koromaru just came out for P4AU, maybe they could work.◊ You can see Ken attacking and Koromaru blocking. Only issue is it might be a bit too busy.

Nevermind; changed my mind.
What about Zwei? [1]◊

It is what it is.@47: You'd have to look carefully in order to see the second character, as otherwise, said character just looks like part of the scenery.
@48: You can't see that Zelda's the second player character that you control alongside Link, there.
@49: Just looks like a wolf assisting in on a attack.
Admittedly, the Alice pics are nice, the reason why I don't want to use it because it may cause confusion for being literal to the trope name.

I'm in favor of #18 so far.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
