The Adventures of Jean-Luc and Joey is quite different in tone from it's comic counterpart. this brings a different list of tropes that are not in the comic's tropes page

Jean-Luc and Joey shows examples of

  • Animal Stereotypes: Since a majority of the cast are animals. this trope pops up a lot.
    • Jean-Luc. Being a fox, he has shown many times that he could be a clever and confident leader to the Whackos while being a devious trickster to his enemies.
    • the Weaselton Brothers. These two devious brothers are very treacherous indeed. Wesley especially shows sure signs of malevolence.
  • Bag of Holding: Jean-Luc's tail and Joey's hat.
  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: The Centipede Queen or "Pedey" as Joey likes to call her.
  • Blob Monster: The Main threat of the second volume, Slime Time.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: The characters do this often. They are either addressing the readers or the author.
  • City with No Name: the town the Whackos reside in is literally called "The Town with No Name"
  • Cool Car: The Groovemobile. A 60s style convertible sports car that houses many weapons and gadgets.
  • Greaser Delinquents: Daniel U. Byrne, AKA Danny is the gang's greaser.
  • Identity Amnesia: Jean-Luc and Joey. Jean-Luc suffered a nasty blow to the head and woke up not remembering anything. he finds Joey who also lost his memories.
  • Intoxication Ensues: In the first chapter called "Ryan's Special Incense". The Whacko guys end up getting hot-boxed accidentally when Ryan brings over some strange cannabis incense.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: in the Wrath of the Weasel. Joey and Ryan have to travel through the mind and memories of a comatose Jean-Luc.
  • Killer Robot: Multiple throughout the series.
  • Land Down Under: Jean-Luc and Joey find themselves in Australia on vacation in the first story, A Holiday Down Under.
  • Mad Scientist: 100% Julie Q. Fruit is the gang's weapons inventor and as the trope puts it. Local mad scientist
  • Man-Eating Plant: In the Novel's story Vegetation Domination. The whole town is infected by zombified plants.
  • Nervous Wreck: Melody A. Michaels
  • Super Gullible: This is the majority of Joey's personality.
  • The End of the World as We Know It: The Main conflict of the Vegetation Domination and Wrath of the Weasel volumes.
  • Toon Physics: Despite the format of the series being literature. The Physics still function like a western cartoon. Examples being:
    • Characters' jaws physically hitting the ground
    • Their eyes popping out of their heads or exploding
    • Limbs stretching
    • Surviving things that would definitely kill a person.
  • Writing Around Trademarks: Joey's "Zentindo Game Buddy" is a parody of the Nintendo Gameboy.
