I have no idea what Tokyo ESP is up to. I'll give the second episode a shot, but I found enough elements eye-rolling that I kind of doubt I'll be following it
Rokujouma no Shinryakusha is mediocre
like I said, they started in the finale on Tokyo ESP. the show will properly begin next episode
You also cited /a/, who I have no reason to believe is an authority on the subject
And there's stuff beyond that— I hadn't heard anything about it being in continuity with Ga Rei, for one thing
cameos aren't sharing continuity though. and In Medias Res is a thing . that said, I don't hope you'll listen to me when it's easier to just blindly hate something

Having the very first scene be a conversation between Kagura and Yomi is somewhat beyond a cameo
What the hell? No one said anything about hating it
Rail Wars second episode is definite improvement over the first. It's simply much more interesting and more substantive. The characters are starting to take shape too. I think I'm going to keep watching.
Tokyo ESP- the power effects were pretty cool. Will keep watching. I think it became pretty obvious that this was taking place at some point beyond the story's beginning.
I'll give that a look then. EDIT: So I agree that it is a lot better than the first. Still more tits than trains, but it was fairly interesting this time.

So... can anyone tell me what Tokyo ESP has to do with Ga Rei Zero? I watched the first couple episodes of the latter, so I recognize a few things here and there, but otherwise I'm lost.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialI read somewhere that they're supposed to take place in the same universe.
Same author. Fans of the manga are saying that the Ga-rei characters were added to the anime and that they couldn't possibly take place in the same universe
It remains to be seen if this is just cameos in the first episode or if the anime is doing some sort of crossover version of events
Given that the Ga-rei anime seemed to be taking a lot of liberties with storytelling too, I wonder if the director wants to put his own touch on everything or if he just hates the original author.
Moar first episode impressions:
- Re: Hamatora: Now enjoying higher production values!
- Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun: Just a few seconds in and the BGM is fantastic. As far as comedies go this is a hit.
- Glasslip: Kind of nonsensical. And I don't know what the hostility at the end was about.
- Majimoji Rurumo: As far as comedies go this is a miss. But the premise is interesting at least.
- Jinsei: Sort of cute.
- Zankyou no Terror: That was great. Probably the strongest premiere I've seen so far.
Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?: Looks like it's a Fantasy Kitchen Sink type of harem. Aliens, a ghost, an oracle from the depths, and a magical girlcosplayernote .
About the ghost. Her dress, eyes, and hair... Holy smokes, Nanana! You never said you had a little sister!note
Yama no Susume 2: The same old thing, now longer! Definitely gonna be a cute fest!
Ai Mai Mi: Fantasy Catastrophe: Just as zany as before.
Wasn't Ga Rei Zero a prequel?
And, uh, the director is different. There is some staff overlap, but the people in charge are different. Makes me suspect that it's the mangaka's idea
To be fair I never watched either of them.
But you mean the author is one of those "there's no point if it's just the same thing animated" people?
I read Ga-Rei, but Ga-Rei -Zero- just put me off. Meaning I'll ignore anything related or comparable to it. Maybe.
Invaders of the Rokujyoma seems like standard harem fare with cute girls of varying kinds. Hard to say more with just a mass of introductions and nothing else of note.
Check out my fanfiction!@Zankyou: oh, they ninelevelled the building...
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I realize this might not have a definite answer until the show has finished airing, but it wouldn't hurt to get a sense of the situation there.
Join my forum game!I find that watching them while they're ongoing, or at least not all or most of it at once, lets me enjoy them more. More time to think about what happens, more time to figure out what the characters are thinking, and more time to speculate about plots. Rather than just watching it over half a day or something and then be done with it.
But otherwise I don't think I've encountered an anime where watching it in a different order was better. Not counting Haruhi Suzumiya.
Check out my fanfiction!I've yet to encounter a series where watching them out of airing order was better. Including Haruhi

I can only advise, watch it for the experience it represents as it's airing, and you can rearrange the story later in your head, if necessary.
It is the way you're supposed to enjoy episodic things generally.
I just watched Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo ESP.
Tokyo Ghoul has more angst than I was expecting. It may be my aversion to angst, but I didn't find it particularly disturbing. Shouldn't they have played that angle a little harder in execution? Of course I hadn't intended to follow it from the start, but with the almost tasteful pace I'm nearly tempted to see where this goes, I suspect I would be disappointed though, and the first half of episode one did try my patience.
Tokyo ESP on the other hand could do with some levity. That and I can hardly be drawn into a world with no characters to speak of, can I?
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Akame Ga Kill episode 2: It flows better than the first one, that's for sure. It seems that anime simply isn't going to fully embrace settings darkness, but they did cut down on corny jokes.
We get some insight into the characters specifically Akane. We learn her past and mindset. We also get to see Tatsumi's first assassination.
Better episode than the first.
I agree.
Night Raid is like a murderous Zvezda. Also how does that guy fit his hair into his helmet?
Ghoul is getting boring. Horror Hunger played too straight. Also, his constant cries of "niku" make me think of Monkey D. Luffy.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
from what I have read on the internet (basically /a/), they just started on the final battle like Shin Mazinger, the show properly starts next episode
