General Kingdom Hearts Fanfiction Thread

So, given the way that Kingdom Hearts did the "all worlds share the same sky" thing, can anyone here see the inference made by me on the part of my villain, Wolfang, in that he declares himself "King of the Sky"?

I get the implication, but I can't help feel that the name is a tad unimpressive.

Largely because while it is "a thing" in the series, I don't feel that it is enough of a thing to really carry the gravitas that you're probably going for.

Hm, maybe then I should come up with a few more nicknames.

At different times, Wolfang was referred to in reference to his name as "The Wolf King", and in reference to his behaviour as "Deceiver of Hearts".

Both of those are much better.

First is ambiguous but implies that he's bad news, and the second just plain suggests Satanic Archetype.

So... I've been getting complaints that I'm making a dark fanfic for a light hearted series and I understand. It's just that I kind of wanted to pull Reality Ensues because let's be honest: I don't think anyone would take their homeworld (Which is all they ever known, by the way.) being destroyed all that well or at all for that matter.

So, I'm going to include more stuff with the Power of Friendship and the Power of Love.

So, there's a fanfic I've been reading, and while the first half of the first chapter was kind of off-putting, I've really enjoyed the rest of it since then.

Sora's Life is a Game.

What were the complaints about, exactly?

Evidently it is.

It is a harem fic, but it's still worth reading.

Sora is still recognizable as Sora (although, "Sora if he had a few years of being subjected to Yuffie as a bad influence"), and he still cares about his friends.

There's no bashing.

The action sequences are wonderfully executed, there's a lot of tension in the better fights (especially Sora vs Berserk Elsa) in chapter 6.

And the best thing is: the author pretty clearly gives an actual damn about creating an entertaining story for other people to read.

You know all that garbage we've been reading on Iridia? That shit's a sickness, and this is a step toward the cure.

@Karkat: I've been talking about how pragmatic I'm making the main character for my fanfic and people don't like that. Not to mention that I'm making him The Unfettered albeit a downplayed version of it.

I believed you mentioned something like that, but I forget exactly what your plans were. Can you elaborate further?

@Karkat: Stuff like throwing mud at Diavolonort's face, blinding and distracting him long enough for the main character to use a pistol to shoot him in the face. Or throwing shattered glass into a Jerkass Paladin's face in a universe where powerful healing magic is common and said Paladin has access to said healing magic. Looting enemies because the pay is god awful. And more morally questionable stuff!

Oh, and him acting like The Unfettered is more him being scared and desperate as all hell and less being ruthless.

Since I never finished Coded and I have an idea with Unforgettable: can the dataspace of Jimminy's journal still be accessed?

So my official headcanon with Sora's training is that he got training from Donald and Goofy on how to deal with multiple enemies at once. And, they taught him to take everything seriously.

Yeah.

Also, I'm going to protray one of the OC Keyblade users as weak because she doesn't have any training and her Keyblade's main shtick (Black Magic) is useless as she doesn't have any yet. Or could the Keyblade could teach her instinctively a Magic Missle like attack. Thoughts?

And finally, warhammer wielding White Mages.

Don't think Sora really needs those fancy foreign folk to teach him about fighting multiple enemies, given that he can get in a fight with three people for fun way back in the prologue.

Judging from the way Sora gets new and upgraded spells, I'd say that OC's likely to pick up magic by instinct and combat experience. If you want to keep her underpowered, you could just use a vicious cycle thing where she's not good enough to take down the enemies whose defeat would grant her the powers that make her good enough to take down those enemies.

Doesn't Maleficent still want the dataspace in 3D? That would seem to indicate that it's still useful, assuming she's supposed to be a viable threat.

I don't want her to be underpowered when everyone else on the team is actively engaging in shonangians. (Thanks EVA Unit 01 for coining that term.) I mean I guess I can give her Fire and Thunder.

I'm not giving her anymore spells in Black Magic until she attends the military academy as I want her to actually understand the core concepts of spellcasting.

And also in-universe not feel like they're children playing with their father's loaded gun.

And it's so not because I want her to be a battle couple with her just as OP White Mage boyfriend. Nope.

You're working on a fanfic? What is it called?

On an unrelated note, have you guys ever heard of a fictional called the Nobody Virus?

A fanfic that is simultaneously a reconstruction of self inserts AND a deconstruction/subversion of Kingdom Hearts self insert fanplots. (Get a Keyblade and travel with Sora, basically repeating one of the games plot.)

I'm calling it Adaptability.

Also I seek to make both the Disney and Final Fantasy characters both relevant.

And no I have not heard of the Nobody Virus.

Nobody Virus is a guide on how not to write "dark, realistic" fics. I'm currently reading an MST of it. To give you a hint of what's in it:Terra was a drug dealer who kept Namine as a sex slave and the keyblade came from aliens.

Ouch.

He's not even a main character either. Organinzation XIII, for example, are a bunch of pretentious hypocritical loons who the author tries to make sympathetic, but fails because they lack what made canon Org XIII likable, sympathetic, and cool and are completely unrecognizable from canon. To quote a commentator, "They make the original Organization look like boysouts".

Mixing Warhammer with anything tends to produce crap, from my experience.

Also... I'm pretty sure just wearing something would count as 'equipping'. What were they even going with, there?

Speaking of riff blogs, Here's a KH one I did a while ago. It's got self-inserts, overly-nice assholes, and more Keyblades than you can shake Roxas' stick at.
