DEEK.
The only thing I think I've ever seen from them is Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and some other ones I don't care about.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."I think it was Inspector Gadget that put them on the map, what with all the spin-offs and the appearance by Gadget in their Super Mario show! I also remember they made early seasons of Captain Planet, before the switch-over to stiffer animation from Hanna-Barbera and the loss of some celebrity voices.
Oh yeah, and I remember reading John K's opinion once.

Before I was indifferent to Dic, now I like them.
I remember them fondly for Inspector Gadget and Liberty's Kids, as well as their many Animated Adaptations: Madeline, Heathcliff, Dennis the Menace, Sabrina: The Animated Series, and Archie's Weird Mysteries come to mind. Yeah, I think I owe roughly 30% of my childhood in TV to that company.
Also, I thought their closing logo was terrifying when I was a kid.

Eh.DiC. LOL. But yea, half of my early childhood was overrun with Dic. I fucking miss The Littles, though.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceNo love for The Real Ghostbusters?
I think they're a lot like HB in that their animation usually was pretty bad, yet they made so many cartoons your bound to be nostalgic for at least one of their properties. Granted it's not a universal rule across the board as Gadget's generally agree to be one of their best, but then you have stuff like the first MLP cartoon series which has so many animation screw ups it has a drinking game subpage.
"No will to break."DIC was definitely a big part of my childhood! I remembered watching shows like "Sonic the Hedgehog," both "Adventures" and "Satam," "The Littles," "Inspector Gadget," "Archie's Weird Mysteries," and "Sabrina: The Animated Series." Too bad it was bought out by Cookie Jar, but you could still see some of the shows on the Cookie Jar block.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!tbh, the only thing I remember from DIC was their awful dub of Sailor Moon, but I'll be damned if I'm not nostalgic for it. Can't say I'm familiar with their domestic works beyond maybe Inspector Gadget.
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkThat theme song was kick-ass! And should have stayed an importaint corner stone to Nickelodeon's success back in the glory days, like Danger mouse.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceSorry that I necro'd this dead thread, but I have some good news! There is a Kickstarter for this documentary three Australian men are making about Jean Chapolin (Di C's founder) called "English Dub". Here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1161054799/english-dub-a-dic-entertainment-story?ref=category
"You can run, but you can't hide from the Buzzinator!"Hmm, that actually sounds pretty interesting. It'd be interesting to learn a non-biased history about (do-do-do-dooooo-blii-i-ing-bling!) DiC.
And yes, like many others, I also grew up on DiC cartoons, particularly Inspector Gadget, Liberty's Kids, and Madeline. I particularly have fond memories about the former two.
"I shall not be foolish again, my dear Gwendolyn!"It's not about DIC, though, it's about their founder, Jean Chalopin. He was involved with DIC for its first few years, when they were partly French-owned, then he sold his share in the company and started a new company in France.
In any case, it is fairly obvious that DIC's only real quality years were in the 80s, and when that decade ended the quality level slipped really badly. Even stuff like The Super Mario Bros Super Show and Maxies World look like Shakespeare next to Hammerman.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Whenever there's a crime, some crooks are gonna do time.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I have some fond memories of Di C cartoons. I grew watching shows like The Littles, Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego, Archie's Weird Mysteries, Mummies Alive, Sherlock Holmes in The 22nd Century, Liberty's Kids. They made some cartoons I really liked.
I recall enjoying The Real Ghostbusters immensely, but more for the writing than the animation. I have fond memories of a number of Di C's shows (The Littles, Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats—well, just the Catillac Cats, I could've done without Heathcliff) but yeah, their stuff always looked pretty cheap. And their stuff from the mid-90's on tended to look even cheaper.
Aren't Di C the ones who did the Kid Video cartoon? And the Wolfman Jack cartoon that aired for, like, a season in the 80's?
I watched a lot more Di C stuff as a kid then I'd like to admit, including Horseland, a live-action craft series known as Cake and Trollz.
I'll never be ashamed of Liberty's Kids, though. Good stuff right there.
"A buddy is a buddy no matter how nutty."I kind of liked Trollz even though i wasn't in the demographic they were aiming at.

Ah yes Di C, boy they are a base breaking company. On one hand the company made memorable shows that made up the best part of everyone's childhood; including Inspector Gadget, The Real Ghostbusters, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Captain Planet. On the other hand the company have made some blunders that either dates the program or be a poor adaption to a show; including New Kids on the Block, Captain N The Game Master, Darkstalkers (yeah they made a Darkstalkers cartoon, WTF), the english dub of Sailor Moon, and Pro Stars.
Though I find it funny that the company made so many Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles clones like Street Sharks, Extreme Dinosaurs and Mummies Alive (all of which I did saw as a kid . . . well at least the last two).

Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Must be a small circle. Granted the dub did introduce the Western world to Sailor Moon and to an extent popularize anime here in America. Than again, so did Yu-Gi-Oh!

I think that they were producers of mediocre animation, the exception being Liberty's Kids and the stuff they did in the 1980s, from what little I've seen of that decade's output.
