I do...I am a little bit iffy about the casting of Mylady, but otherwise, I enjoy the hell out of the show. Just the jump from ep one to ep two was a little bit fast. I expected more character development and more about the early stages of their friendship.

To be honest...I was confused because I thought since the second episode that he is part of them. I was already miffed that they skipped the episode in which he does join, but apparently they didn't?

Marie de Medici would make sense. The only other option I see happening would be to have some sort of Spanish character trying to sabotage France or the French Royal family somehow.
Speaking of Richelieu, has there been any word on whether he's going to be killed off or not? I'd imagine it'd be Milady if he was.

The only replacement villain I can think of is the Duke of Buckingham.....
Peter Capaldi has recently been cast as the 12th Doctor in Doctor Who, so he won't be able to play Richelieu for the during of his stay there (which is guaranteed to be at the very least one year).

- shudder* nothing against Orlando Bloom, but this movie is horrible miscast in every single role. (But then, shitty casting for a shitty movie).
I actually think the movie had pretty good casting as far as it went. Most of all: Christoph Waltz as Richelieu, which was just perfect (and he actually resembles greatly the actual historical Richelieu).

I saw the first episode of this today. I approve. It looks good from just the first episode. I am thinking I will enjoy the series as a whole.

There's no reason why Capaldi can't do both Musketeers and Doctor Who. This isn't American TV, this is British TV: the series will be filmed all in one go over a few weeks, not on an episode-by-episode basis, making it up as they go along.

I think it was already stated that he won't do Season 2 due to his commitment to DW. Let's assume they are more reasons to it than schedule.

Ah, that's a shame. He's good in this and they're both BBC programmes. I know the Czech Republic to Cardiff is a hell of a commute, but still...

They can't kill off Richelieu as it would be rabbit punching history far more than is credible even for this drama. They may time-skip it forwards a bit to when Jules Mazarin is the new Éminence grise behind the throne of France, like what Dumas eventually did in the books, but since that would involve all the pretty boy actors who are in the leading roles at the moment losing that pretty boy status due to their characters reaching advancing age I doubt the show would be as popular.
I would giggle uncontrollably if they replaced Capaldi with either Matt Smith, David Tennant or Hugh Laurie.

I wonder if Porthos keeps the blunderbuss of the old guy. Maybe as keepsake. He is pretty much The Big Guy already, and blunderbusses are the precursor to shotguns. Imo it would kinda fit.
