Hmm...I don't know. People seem to hate Barry a lot more these days, but people LOVE Cisco. Also, the Flash is a Legacy Character so Barry is technically replaceable. If Keiynan Lonsdale was a bit more experienced and was on Grant's level (or even Wally was just a much better character than he actually is) then maybe the show could survive without Barry Allen.
Headcanon accepted.
Think Jay or Jessie could hold the protagonist seat, then?
Wake me up at your own risk.I'll take both sharing the position.
I'm still waiting for an episode dedicated to Jessie or Jay Garrick being the Flashes of their worlds.

Last season had a bit of trouble with insisting that nobody but Barry can be the protagonist that I'm hoping they ditch this time.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I've got a theory about how they'll get Barry out of the Speed Force.
The way the Speed Force trap works is that a speedster always has to be trapped in it, otherwise you get the fabric of reality breaking apart (again). So for Barry to be brought out safely, another speedster has to take his place. But who says the speedster has to be human?
They've replicated the circumstances that gave Barry his speed once before, and they should still know the formula for Velocity 9. They could be spending the summer experimenting on a bunch of laboratory mice in order to give one of them superspeed, and when it finally works for one of them, using that as the tradeoff to get Barry out of the Speed Force (after some wacky shenanigans trying to recapture the escaped speedster mouse, of course).
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoOnly if the Big Bad of the season then turns out to be a superfast, interdimensional mouse out for revenge.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. My hope is that the trailer was a Red Herring and that they're actually just bringing a version of Barry back from the past so that he can defeat the season premiere villain. He'll help Wally and then go back to his time period, giving everyone some closure.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I'm here for metamice. I still can't believe the only non human meta we've seen is Grodd and i guess maybe kinda King Shark. I want metakitties and metahummingbirds and metageckos....
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersDid we ever hear King Shark's origin? Because I was always under the impression that he was a horrifically mutated human.
King Shark started out as human. Hence the maybe kinda, I'm assuming. We met the Earth-2 doppelganger of his former girlfriend in that one episode, I think.
we met the wife of the one on earth 1, who died within days of the particle accelerator explosion instead of mutating. The King Shark we've got is from earth two, and currently employed/imprisoned by ARGUS. Yeah, mutated human, but...he's sharky, so it's 'kinda'
Got a degree in Emotional trauma via fictional characters aka creative writing. hosting S'mores party in Hell for fellow (evil) writersI haven't read it myself, but I've heard that the series tie-in comics have some meta-spiders that were living inside the particle accelerator when it when kablooey.
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoSo, I dunno where to put this, but what DC characters would be well suited for a buddy cop show?
Wake me up at your own risk.Batman and Robin?
But yeah, the Lanterns, obviously. I would also probably give a show about Joe West and Detective Lance a try. And despite their ensemble dynamic, most of these shows could support some buddy cop storylines: Cisco and Caitlin, Barry and anyone, two of the Wellses.
Plastic Man and Black Lightning.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I thought the default answer to that question was Blue Beetle and Booster Gold?
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoThat was what I was going to say. Green Lantern Corps also works depending on the members they want teamed up.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventurex3
Black Lightning is getting his own show next year. No Plastic Man though.
So... here's another new trailer for Season 4.
Not going to lie, I'm both excited and nervous. The trailer looks like the first episode is going to explore Cisco and Iris' character more, which I'm hoping for. Barry coming back is a bit of a given so I can't really get mad at that. But I don't really like that Wally and Cisco seem to be unable to protect Central City without Barry. Like come on, guys, step it up.
...why does Barry have a beard?
Does the Speed Force accelerate hair growth? I mean I guess it makes sense but, if there's an accelerated sense of time, then shouldn't Wally have had facial hair coming out, or Jay? And then neither of them seemed to be near-catatonic like one would expect if you had to spend months/years in a cosmic prison, and yet Barry seems to be. And wasn't the lesson last season that Grant Gustin shouldn't play evil or depressed characters, did the writers think the fans enjoyed seeing Grant Gustin look sad or detached or unhinged?
Are we getting a repeat of Future Barry, because that last shot of him kind of looks like it. The way his eyes glow and the fact that he's not talking or smiling at his friends is kind of ominous. They're also doing this weird thing where they show Barry's face in some shots and don't in others.
Didn't Future Barry give us some Season 4 spoilers already? Will those events even come to pass since we are now in a timeline in which Barry managed to save Iris (or rather, Iris shot Barry to save herself), and he didn't spend months/years grieving about it?
Grant Gustin with facial hair is weird.
What happened to Eiling?
What are the Legends doing?
Wouldn't pulling Barry out of the Speed Force just cause another Speed Force storm, did cisco not pay any attention last season you cant bring barry allen back or else the universe will go purple, wasn't the whole point of him going in there to off-screen land to balance the bullsh't speed force equation how the f'ck did Thawne even figure out the f'cking speed force equation why does a metaphysical sentient cosmic f'cking phenomenon have a f'cking mathematical equation to be solved this f'cking speed force bullsh't makes no f'cking sense ...
-clears throat-
Looks interesting.
But I really wish they'd just used Flashpoint to fix Arrow and Hand Wave all of the What Happened to the Mouse? and Killed Off for Real moments in the Arrowverse, maybe brought Snart back to Flash and revived Amanda Waller or something.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!...I actually kind of like the beard. Also, I feel like Arrow more or less fixed it's main problems.
But yes, the speed force stuff makes no sense. *sighs*
Per the moment, I am a hell of a lot more curious about Caitlin than Barry or the Jerkass Force.
Why wouldn't Barry have a beard? So far, every season premiere has taken place several months after the previous season finale. The real question is why his beard isn't longer.
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara Haruko- sigh* I know Barry coming back was a given, but couldn't have they waited past the first fucking episode. They did the same shit with flashpoint.
even in ensemble shows there's usually one or two who stick out as the mains—sara, in Lo T's case, and some who get shunted aside (my kingdom for a firestorm centric plot again)
also i was rewatching some season one stuff and game to a conclusion: if what we saw in 1x23 when barry went back in time is what happened the night of his mom's murder in the first timeline where she died, then there is significant evidence for the police to find that henry didn't kill nora and not a lot that says he did, therefore i suspect that eobard had previously manufactured evidence, all along intending to frame henry for murder—just originally it would have been barry's, rather than nora's. of course, it could also just be continuity errors the writers didn't care about, but i like my story better.
