Game in Reverse: list your favorite video games played out backwards

Multiplayer Bomberman in reverse is about two janitors who clean up bombs left behind from fire clouds which randomly appear. Sometimes, these clouds leave behind other janitors in their wake.

Kirby in reverse features Kirby eating stars, which he spits out as vicious creatures which wreak havoc on the land. He heals cosmic horrors literally by sucking out their wounds through his fists or as projectile weapons. However, the cosmic horrors eventually decided it is not worth their time attacking Pop Star, as they seem to have gotten less and less aggressive as they have gone there. Eventually the only evil being left for Kirby to help is a corrupt, but lazy and clumsy penguin.

Robbit Mon Dieu in reverse is about a robot who revives a dangerous and powerful alien, and then stows away on a spaceship. He periodically gets off to perform petty crime.

In reverse Oregon Trail, You go on a journey from the Willamette Valley to the Eastern United States. Along the way, merchants give you money in exchange for goods, people magically come to life and join your party, and you repopulate the wilderness by putting dead animals there and sucking out their bullets into your gun.

Katamari Damacy in reverse is about the King of All Cosmos turning stars and planets into piles of junk and then ordering his prince to put all of the junk back.

Spore in reverse is about an advanced race of intergalactic beings who return to their home planet and proceed to devolve into single-celled organisms.

In reverse Legend of Zelda, Link resurrects a great evil, hands the princess over to him, then wanders around putting legendary treasures in the hearts of dungeons, before going home to sleep.

In the Touhou-games, you start out pitted against an incredibly powerful supernatural being who is constantly bombarding you with magical attacks. You have to keep dodging and absorb their magical power, and they'll turn more and more docile until they stop attacking. Then you have a chat and leave them alone. Then you have to fight their closest supporter in the same way. Then the person who'll show you the way out. Then you have to take care of a couple of random opponents who are making trouble, before you finally get back home and can rest.

Backwards Super Mario 64: Mario sends Princess Peach into the heart of the Castle, gives Bowser the Super Star, divides the rest of the stars in other places, and then goes into a Warp Pipe and leaves.

Metroid Fusion. Samus arrives on a space station, kills an Omega Metroid, fights a strange copy of herself, shuts off a self destruct sequence, then gradually loses more and more of her suit powers in her fight against the X parasites until she manages to piece them all together in a dark room. She then gets a Metroid vaccine, descends upon SR 388 and continues to exterminate the parasites.

Metroid Prime. Samus awakens in an impact crater underneath a chozo temple, her suit horribly corrupted by an unknown substance and soon finds herself under attack from a new kind of Metroid. She tracks the Metroids and the corruptible mutagen to their source, kills it, then leaves the impact crater where she is confronted by Ridley. She beats him too but he escapes, so she pursues him across the world of Talon IV, defeating the rest of the Space pirates as they are encountered. In an effort to escape the survivors repair a crashed frigate and take off but Samus recovers her own spaceship and follows their distress signal in order to finish them off.

Thomas was Alone: two AIs download themselves into a computer network. They make friends and explore the network with the abilities granted to them by the world itself. Their new acquaintances go their separate ways, and ultimately give away their powers to create seven new AIs, some of which innately carry the powers they once had. One of the seven, Thomas, has a brief glimpse of things beyond his comprehension; he can't take the pressure, so he uploads this knowledge to the internet and forgets it himself. After a long journey through the bowels of the network, Thomas finally manages to ditch his "friends" and finds peace in solitude.

Braid: after losing the love of his life (in an incident that may or may not have involved the Manhattan Project), a man named Tim is sent into the future and cursed to move backwards through time. He can break the curse for short periods, but doing so always results in him dying or ending up in an inescapable situation, so he must once again surrender himself to the backwards timestream, losing both his clarity and his antique puzzle collection.

Doom: A Space Marine residing in Hell puts together a bunch of demons to invade research stations on Deimos and Phobos, then escapes to Earth.

Bejeweled: You have to create sets of 3 gems out of nowhere in order to push the existing gems into as high a tower as possible.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Sonic uses the Chaos Emeralds to bring ruin to Green Hill Zone, then alternates between hiding the emeralds in another dimension, fixing Eggman's machines by hitting them, and capturing animals in prison pods.

Time to post a quote a friend of mine made years ago.

"If you watch Halo backwards it's a story about how humans are on the brink of extinction when a gentle race of aliens come and create more humans with their love rays."

And now for a serious attempt.

Halo 3: Master Chief wakes up aboard a drifting ship, which is reunited with its front half and lands on a Halo. He fires it, and its pulse builds an enormous space station called the Ark. He leaves his AI in the crashed planetoid on it, where it kills off the infection aboard it and then sends the planetoid back into space. Afterward, the Arbiter saves the Prophet of Truth from having a sword in his chest, and humans and Covenant collect all their spare ammo. They restore the tower shields, leave the space station and turn off the portal to it, then the Covenant use their spaceships to fill up the giant crater left in Africa. At the end, Master Chief turns into a rocket and flies away to the alien holy ship, where it leaves Earth.

Metal Gear Solid: You drive into a military base with a bud, talk to your brother and reconcile your differences, wake up all the personnel you knocked out, and then go for a leisurely swim.

It would be the most heartwarming game ever.

Uplink: You fix the internet, remove the virus that broke said internet, then you give your money to mega-corporations while helping them fix security loopholes, reconstruct corrupt databases and deleted data, and help them remove their employee's criminal records too! In your spare time, you also give absurd amounts of money to strangers with empty bank accounts, and also patch security loopholes in their e-banking system. Such a nice guy! Eventually, you give away your ultra-high-capacity quantum supercomputer (and some more cash) and downgrade all your hardware and software. When you've given away almost every penny, you delete your terminal's hard drive, give away that computer too, then cut connection and quit the internet forever. You exit Steam and regurgitate your potato chips and Mountain Dew in satisfaction.

Dorf Fort: A carefully constructed, intricate fortress full of various deathtraps is slowly disassembled by a bunch of psychotic, manic-depressive, alcohol-vomiting midgets, the last seven of whom eventually leave for the mountainhomes.

Wait, isn't that rather similar to how it goes forwards, too? Well, except for the survivors and the direction of the alcohol flow.

You run an on-foot people delivery service. After leaving your home, you fight some guy in an ice field. This convinces him to come back home with you, after you go through some more places and pick up a battering ram. Next, you head through grim swampland to take a woman back to her home, all the while removing crystal shards from the heart of your floating fortress and disassembling its buildings. Finally, the first man gets dropped off where he needs to go. As the ground disappears beneath your feet, you finally arrive home, throw your hammer on the ground, and take a nap on a cloud in the sky. Bastion

Metal gear rising.

After performing heart surgery on your senator, he reconstructs his robot to go to war on the mole people. you and your robot buddy then slowly revive his cracktag team of assassins, before fixing Raiden's metal gear.

Devil May Cry: A guy in a red trenchcoat flies on a biplane to a remote island to unleash some ungodly ancient evil on the world, restoring its four demonic corporals back into power, and then goes home, kicks his corset clad guest out of his house and repairs his front door, ending the night with a box of pizza.

Mega Man X: A blue robot with elemental abilities builds an evil bald android leader. He then goes on to build 8 destructive animaloid robots while infusing each one with his elemental abilities, at the cost of losing said abilities. The animaloid robots then begin to fix the destruction around the planet.

Pong: The game begins when a pixel flies onto the screen from one side or another. The two lines on each side then hit it around for a while until it eventually disappears in the middle of the screen. One side then loses a point and the ball returns to the screen from the side that did not. Repeat until nobody has any points.

Breakout: a ball flies out from a brick and magically makes other bricks appear in the sky around it while being paddled around the stage. When this is done, it hits the paddle a final time and stops.

Asteroid: a lone brave ship tries its hardest to reassemble destroyed asteroids.

Minecraft: Elaborate structures left since the dawn of time are torn down and the raw resources returned to the earth. Occasionally, craters implode and birth creepers as a by-product.

The Mass Effect trilogy:

The story begins with a story thousands of years ago, where a peaceful and stable galaxy was suddenly torn asunder by an unexplained explosion. Beings called Reapers appeared and began fixing the galaxy, being opposed by Shepard, who may or may not be one of their own transformed into a human. As the benevolent Reapers work to fix everything, sometimes resurrecting entire species, Shepard battles them at every turn and revives a few dead ones himself just they can watch him/her dismantle their goals. Eventually, however, the Reapers are forced to flee while Shepard goes to Earth and has his ship and crew disguised as benevolent members of the anti-terrorist group Cerberus.

The second game opens with Shepard forming a truce with the leader of Cerberus. It's revealed that Reapers are actually members of various galactic races that were transformed against their will. Shepard arrives just as the Reapers use an explosion to build a base to try and restore these species to their true forms. Instead, he kidnaps a number of humans that were assisting the Reapers, enslaves quite a few on his/her ship (with the help of some traitorous Reaper minions), and then starts tying up loose ends by leaving each of his crew members stranded on worlds where they're sure to be killed. Cerberus catches wise and manages to kill Shepard, but misguided members of the Normandy crew salvage his/her remains and trick the Reapers into bringing him/her back to life.

In the third game, Shepard starts executing his/her plan to rid the galaxy of the benevolent Reapers once and for all. S/he revives the Reaper named Sovereign, takes over the Citadel and programs it to remain locked to Reaper signals forever. Then s/he travels to Ilos via a hidden warp and activates Vigil, the last being alive that knew how to restore the Citadel. Sovereign sends one last hope, Saren, to stop Shepard, but Shepard escapes and destroys the base Saren was using to clone the dying krogan race. Saren chases Shepard and manages to save a 50,000 year old creature, clone an extinct race (although they unfortunately go crazy), and send machines to protect the daughter of his friend. After Shepard tries to destroy the one beacon that still proves the benevolent Reapers exist, Saren manages to restore it and give the galaxy some semblance of hope. Sovereign is never seen nor heard from again.

The story ends with Saren and Shepard both returning to space, to parts unknown.

Descent: The Material Defender flies backwards through space searching for asteroid mines. Whenever he gets close to an asteroid, a mine appears in a violent, firey implosion which he goes inside to investigate. Once inside, he deactivates the self-destruct mechanism, deposits people in the mines for imprisonment, creates battle droids out of thin air, and flies back out again to recieve his next assignment.

Canyon Bomber: Planes flying overhead use invisible beams to repair a city, the damage of which manifests as bombs.

Sonic Adventure: Super Sonic resurrects a powerful water monster which puts together a city and joins forces with Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik. Unfortunately, the monster keeps throwing up Chaos Emeralds and grows weaker and weaker as a result. This makes Eggman very depressed and he ends up dismantling the Egg Carrier in his shame. Eventually the water monster is too weak to fight.

Kingdom Hearts: After opening the Door to Darkness with the help of his friend Riku and using the light of Kingdom Hearts to restore Ansem, Sora travels the worlds, restoring the Heartless and unlocking the Keyholes so that they will have free realm. His ultimate goal is devised when he uses the powers of darkness to restore his island, destroyed when the Door was opened, and he goes back to live there with his friends.
