I had trouble distinguishing between this and Subverted Trope.
I still do.
The title is also much broader than the trope description.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. From the description, the term seems to describe tricks. Not necessarily funny ones.
Basically a subversion that doesn't necessarily involve a trope. So a supertrope to Subversion?
Check out my fanfiction!Well, the current description of Subverted Trope describes it as "playing bait and switch with a trope". So, yeah.
I think the problem is that Bait-and-Switch is a very broad trope with a lot of sub-tropes. The trick is probably to make sure examples get filed under the correct Sub-Trope, rather than the main page.
For example, the first paragraph seems to be describing a Bait-and-Switch Comment specifically, and so isn't a good illustration of the broader Bait-and-Switch trope.
Incidentally, it's occurred to me in the past that we could use a Bait And Switch Conversation trope to apply to whole conversations, rather than single lines of dialogue. Some of the current examples could be sub-filed under that.

'Crisis or no, nothing should interfere with tea!'Thread has been clocked. Move it or lose it.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Lost it.
The description of Bait-and-Switch specifically states that it's a comedy trope similar to Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking where you set up one thing and do another. The examples are all over the place.
I think the name is the issue and this may need to be disambiguated.
