Just throwing this out there, but a crossover RP with characters being sent to the real world, where they live out mundane lifes with no knowledge of their past lifes, a la Once Upon a Time.

Here's an old game's opening thing I saved a long time ago that I think would be interesting for someone to run. Basically, for those who don't want to read it, there was an orb that shattered into six pieces. The orb kept emotional stability in the region, and each piece represents an emotion which are Rage/Passion/Pleasure/Greed/Misery/Loyalty. Being around a piece too long makes you more like that emotion until you become mentally enslaved by crystal beings that sprouted from the pieces. There's a little safe haven and an organization in the area that has been recruiting people from outside to A) Fight off the crystal beings & their slaves plus B) to eventually reclaim the six pieces. From there, feel free to do whatever you want if you decide to use this.

"For as long as the peoples of the Dayspires Valley have remembered, the Orb of Light has brought them peace and prosperity. Hoving atop Mount Lumin, the tallest peak of the Dayspires Chain that surrounded the Valley, the Orb protected the mental balance of the beings of the Dayspires so that no drive would overpower them. This in turn meant that they would experience a healthy variety of drives and thus live to the fullest extent they possible could, as well as maintain their mental health - incidences of mental illness in the Dayspires was very low at this time. That was until one day when something occurred that not even the most learned minds of the Dayspires Institute of Magic could explain - the Orb of Light fell from the sky and broke on top of Mount Lumin into six pieces - red, orange, yellow, blue, green, and indigo.

The pieces then suddenly vanished, and it did not become clear what happened to them until several months had passed. In the intervening time, though, mental instability became more common, and people were becoming more fixated on one drive. Then, one day, six mysterious temples crystal appeared, guarded by bizarre groups of crystal beings, with each temple coordinating with one of the the colored shards of the Orb of Light. The functions of the crystal temples became clear when one has spent enough time near them - they cause the drive they represent to overpower all others when near them. The Red Shard correlated with rage, the Orange Shard passion, the Yellow Shard pleasure, the Green Shard greed, the Blue Shard misery, and finally the Indigo Shard loyalty. In addition, it appeared as if the temples were pulling at the minds of the inhabitants of the Dayspires to do the same.

Over time, they became more and more mentally unbalanced, and many lesser wills went insane from the mental assault. The region began to devolve and collapse as most societies could not bear the large segment of society suddenly going into insanity. For example, the once mighty kingdom of the humans lost most of its territories except a small area around its namesake capitol, Lux Aeterna - built on the mountain pass allowing entrance to the Valley. The Dayspires Institute of Magic closed and teleportation to it blocked due to insanity causing devastating miscasts while the professors fled as quickly as they could. Communications and trade between the various groups began to fail, and the Dayspires seemed to have entered into - if one would be willing to excuse the pun - a dark age. The future looked bleak, and many tried to leave the Dayspires Valley, but few could manage the dangerous journey.

But there was hope yet! The best of the Dayspires, those who did not resign themselves to pessimism, who never let their wills falter - they joined together and formed the Order of the Reclamation. Together, the Order of the Reclamation promised that they would reclaim each and every Shard of the Orb of Light and bring them together to reform the Orb. Behind them they had an excellent talent pool, their personal resources, and the support of practically every remaining government they could contact. It has been yet two years since their founding, and it seems that at last progress is being made on reclaiming the Orb. But they are in dire need of support, support from the outside, who have not yet been exposed to the effects of the Shards and who are capable of providing useful skills to the Order.

So, sir (or madam), if you would feel the desire to fight on behalf of the Order and the people of the Dayspires, take this map and this passport and journey on."

What Deadbeat said; there was an RP with a very similar theme that ran for a short while back in 2011 or thereabouts.

It is something I'd like to try again sometime though.

And the most important lesson we learned from it was that it is a very bad idea to try and play Panty in anything.[lol]

[up]...Same here, honestly.

Oh lawd, that old thing. My first ever RP that I ran. Beginners luck did not favour me, I can tell you.

I actually think I remember a few of my ideas for future plots with that game. If anyone's interested in commandeering the ol' shipwreck, just hit me up with an e-mail, and I'll send a few plots over for them to control.

Heck, I might even control a bit of it. Not as a GM, probably, though I was hoping to play one of the NPCs I had in mind. Oh, though I could play as a character maybe. Reconnect with my roots a little bit.

If we're raising the shipwreck, I'd probably go with a new character.

Maybe someone from Bionicle or DOTA 2.

Anyway, all the ideas here sound pretty awesome. I like the afterlife idea, and Kkutwar's idea reminds me of Heart of Desire, the second RP I ever tried to GM.

Heck, I could possibly try it again, only this time cutting to the chase faster. I stand by my old plot for it, but an RP was not the right place to use that story. Far too big a prologue.

I'd also be upright in order to participate in this game.

I'd like to throw out another idea of mine: an RP where the player characters start out as children, but there are timeskips in which they grow up. I've always wanted to play in something like that.

I've actually tried making an Urban Fantasy Monster Hunter RP where people are part of what amounts to a magical version of the men in black as they hunt monsters in Western Washington's forests and cities.

Turns out that last thing at night is the worst time to have a creative storm, but this thread just got my neurons firing. Here's a few of the ideas I came up with:

  • A crossover game where the characters had been transformed into completely different characters on arrival.
  • A crossover game where the very point is to play as more than one character, in each player's team of crossover characters.
  • A crossover game where the characters have each been brainwashed or transformed into being the opposite of themselves somehow.
  • A crossover game where the location is divided into different sectors based on a holiday.

So, what do you reckon?

Нет. Not sure why you think that "Discord: The RP" would end well. Since the point of a crossover is to play a character you like, not to intentionally derail them.

(Shrugs while making a nonchalant sound) Seemed like a cool idea at the time.

What does being transformed into an entirely different character entail? Does it mean literally becoming a different fictional character, or more like being turned into an animal?
