Does Not Illustrate: Grandma What Massive Hotness You Have

This trope is supposed to be about visibly old characters being portrayed as attractive (Fanservice Tropes, Beauty Tropes, other characters finding them attractive etc....). It's not visibly old characters you like just standing there.

We need picture where a character is actually being portrayed as attractive. If we can't find one I suggest removing current one.

I agree with pulling that. I don't even know who we're supposed to be looking at. He looks visibly old and she looks attractive. I don't know how we would illustrate both aspects in one person.

It's a fanart, but this◊ probably illustrates the trope much better.

Hm, I'm not liking this one, mainly because of the subjective nature of the trope anyway and this one just doesn't suggest it even by being somewhat NSFW. We can always try for male characters, I think that's what the current image is trying to convey given it's not Always Female.

I gave the current a in the old thread, but I'd be fine with pulling it, it really doesn't demonstrate the trope well enough to justify keeping it.

Can explain how current image illustrates the trope? Because IMO it doesn't, I already had to move half of the examples to the discussion page, and the last this thing this page needs is stuff that encourages people to add an non-ugly old person they like.

I'm with Pat, this is bad enough to pull. 6.2 is great, though. She's dressed like an older person and obviously isn't young, but the fact she's clearly being checked out by the younger guy helps sell that this isn't just "Well, I think the older lady is hot" as most of the "Hot X" tropes tend to devolve into.

From the page, I'd be okay with Flemeth◊ from Dragon's Age II since she's clearly rocking a Chainmail Bikini and Cleavage Window (aka Fanservice Tropes), despite being visibly old.

I'd also be okay with the second panel of this comic which also hangs a heavy lampshade on it. Honestly I wish the only dialog was the last bubble ("Why are you looking at my thighs? Is it because of how old I look?").

Paul's mother is a good example, though of the ones in 6, only the second shows the trope. It's still hard to see how old she's supposed to be, but I think it's an improvement anyway. It does illustrate the other part of the trope, relative to the current. Which is also probably the more important part.

I got a really good laugh out of the second suggestion...it definitely works better than the current.

I think 6.2 works better than 11, since actually showing that other people showing attraction towards the person in question seem to illustrate better that he/she is really meant to be "attractive", and not just an old person who cannot act their age and insists on wearing skimpy clothing despite the fact that it's meant for people much younger than themselves.

That said, the woman doesn't look much older than the man, not to mention that the image is rather dark, so her oldness is not so apparent

I have some issues with all the suggestions not looking all that old.

How old is "that old"?

6.2 she's a bit shadowed so it's tough to base her age on her face, but her clothing is definitely not that of a young woman. Plus, she's working on a range which is stereotypically "motherly," which combined with the grown men at the table makes it very clear to me that she's older.

11.1 she definitely looks older, but certainly well-cared for.

11.2, the (very) fine lines on the face are hard to make out, but she is white haired and she's hanging a lampshade the size of a yacht on it so I'm not too concerned.

Too much lampshade on how old she is, and not much isn't said about her "hotness" IMO. The last line may implicate that, but I don't think it's really clear

(personally, if I don't know what this trope is about, I'd have thought the line to mean, "Hey, if you're so old, why don't you wear something less revealing?")

Just to reiterate, it doesn't need to be a female.

That's not really any better than the current. Nothing there indicates that she's considered attractive in-universe, so it's essentially "he's a somewhat older woman, she's totally hot."

I have trouble with seeing the "visibly old" part of the trope im pretty much all of the suggestions so far... Personally i'd suggest any "recent" photo of Sophia Loren in a galà dress or something along those lines. http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophia_Loren
