Going over the examples list, trying to think of something good. Maybe a before and after image with a picture of Superman shrugging off gunfire, then one of the video games with Superman getting his butt kicked by a goon with a crowbar or something?
Or maybe someone kicking butt in the before and then being held captive and helpless in the after?
Of course, I'm still open to other ideas.

Definitely Keep Until Better Image Suggested. His pose and grin all look wimpy to me. This is also a stark contrast to the picture where he's riding Chtulhu.

Uh, which Cthulhu?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo I vote pull. Not only is an image that requires looking at another page bad, this one seems to rely on a wholly arbitrary other page.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMy only problem with the current is its a bit grainy. That in and of itself is not enough for a pull. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
I'm leaning on a weak Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
This is one of those tropes where having two images to compare pretty much is what the trope is, so a prior badass version to go along with it would be an improvement.

Check out my fanfiction! In that case, I actually have a suggestion for a new page image:
EDIT: I might want a new "after" pic, though. I had to reduce the size a lot to get under the 200 KB limit and the goofy grin isn't as apparent anymore.

Looks OK to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDo you have the original for the "Before" image? I wouldn't mind giving this a stab.
Moon◊It was the first good image I found when I did a google search for "badass Aquaman".
Very good.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Egh, yeah, that was really hard to squeeze under 200KB, even with OptiPNG on my side. My end results are pretty much the same as yours, but I included a fireman in the corner to make it more obvious Aquaman's saving somebody, and I redid the contrast/brightness on the "wimp" pic to try and make the smirk a little more visible.

Y'know, technically, the Aquaman pics above aren't an example... The badass version is later than the Superfriends version, and in fact, IIRC, was made in response to the Superfriends version. So it's really Adaptational Badass... sort of.
Fair point...we need something from the Silver Age (if possible) to really make this work.
If it is Adaptational Badass, would it fit better on that page if the images were flipped?
Check out my fanfiction!I was thinking about that, but then I realized that technically, the comic book isn't an adaptation — it's "canon". It's the Superfriends version that's the adaptation. (Does that matter? I'm not 100% sure.)
Official adaptations are canon. Just not necessarily the same canon.
Check out my fanfiction!Rather than "canon" the word should probably be "source."
Even if the comic that image is from was written after the Superfriends, it's still Source, while Superfriends is Adaptation.
Source issues aside, it's still a good image, so I'm in favor.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I would buy that more if comics Aquaman hadn't been made more of a badass in direct response to the Superfriends portrayal. That one fact turns the entire thing on its ear and makes the used pics Not An Example, IMO.
So... um... are there any other ideas?
Here are a few I found while Googling Pre-Crisis Aquaman:
Aquaman overpowering a four-armed mongol thing
I do like the idea of the Super Friends version of Aquaman as the page image, as he's probably the most well known example of the trope. That said, I really don't think this image properly illustrates the trope. It doesn't show an awesome version of Aquaman and also while Aquaman riding his flying fish is certainly silly it's not really "wimpy."
What I'd like is a sort of Before And After Picture that shows an image of some character being badass in their source material, and then one of them being useless and stupid in an adaptation.
Any ideas?
